I am writing this review in regards to Mr. Ortega who works out of the Savannah, Georgia office. I am a Disabled Veteran, and had been thoroughly disappointed in the service in which I was receiving (before Mr. Ortega assisted me). I had been hung up on, told to call back (only to wait for 45 minutes or so),and was told that I would receive instructions on how to access my account online. This went on for 2 1/2 months!! Unenthusiastically, I tried again, and this time I reached Mr. Ortega. First, he went step by step in an attempt to ensure there was nothing we could do to allow me online access, (and to avoid the long delays I had already been involved in). When this failed, he carefully detailed what I needed to do to gain access again. When this attempt didn't work, he tried another method. All the while I realized that Mr. Ortega was trying 110% to assist me, which was different from every other experience I had up until this point. I told him that if this didn't work, I just appreciated all the effort he had put into assisting me. Not to be outdone, Mr. Ortega suggested what I could do as a last attempt and it worked!! Mr. Ortega, if you are reading this, my family and I would like to thank you. To Mr. Ortega's employer's, please take a moment to acknowledge the outstanding assistance provided by Mr. Ortega. Amazing facility with streamlined customer service. Opens at 9 but opens the doors at 830. When I arrived at 9 the waiting room was full and I was shocked to be seen and completed my address change within 30 minutes! The security guard is most pleasant and helpful and explains the check in process, as well as greeting and holding the door . Very pleasant gentleman . After reading the reviews here, I arrived about 15 minutes early. There was a short line at the check-in terminal, and there were people seated in the waiting area. The line started getting big, so the security guard came over and helped people click-through the questions on the computer to get everyone situated faster. Just before 9, he made an announcement of how this all works, which was tremendously helpful and calmed my fears of not knowing where to go. He guaranteed we'd all be seen by 9:30 at the latest. Amazing! I only sat there for maybe 5 or 6 minutes until my ticket was called. They were FAST. The lady who helped me was sweet, kind, and an absolute pleasure. I also was dreading the dead-eyed uncaring government worker, but she indeed was the exact opposite. She got my issue handled quickly and without incident, and answered my questions easily. The customer service at the SSA has been stellar. I've visited twice in the last 30 days and both representatives were professional and knowledgeable. The wait time was less than 10 minutes. I've visited during lunch time and prior to closing and my visit was less than 1 hour. read more

I was able to get my social security card updated quickly and easily. The clerk I was extremely helpful, professional and kind both times.

I wanted to be at the office first thing when they open at 9 AM. I was 5 minutes late and expected a long wait. I got my check in ticket in 1 minute, and about 3 minutes later, my number was called. Fifteen minutes later I was done! Yes, I had a fairly simply matter to handle, but I honestly did not expect to be taken care of so quickly. Not only was everything fast, but the lady helping me was extremely courteous. Often times you meet people at administrative offices (such as DMV, SSA, or other government organizations) who do not look like they want to be there and definitely do not want to talk more than necessary. Went online to just register for Part A only, upon turning 65. Did not want Part B at this time because still full-time employee and have a group health plan, free. Got a letter from SS that I will be getting a card and being billed each month for Part B. Call them an said they could not help me. Ask to talk to someone else and he refuse to let me. Told me to terminate my application from local office and have them mail me a termination letter. Total runaround. It was their mistake and now refusing to help me. read more

My first visit to the Social Security office with no directions on how to file for a name change on a Social Security card. I had to knock on the window to get someone's attention because I've called throughout the week with at least 15+ minute wait time on the phone with no answer. Finally a nice security guard comes out and asked what I needed help with. When I told him I needed to make a name change he said fill out the application - I'll need your marriage license and your drivers license. I told him I had everything in my hand to include the application already filled out. He was shocked and said OK great I will take your marriage license and drivers license to the back to make a copy. He came back out with my copies for me to put them into the envelope to Drop into the drop box. Who would've thought, long and behold The name I requested for my Social Security card Was not the name Displayed. After waiting three weeks for a Social Security card that comes in incorrect is an absolute pain in the ass. I have multiple things I need which Requires my new name on my social security Card now I get to wait another three weeks in hopes that they will get it correct this time. I read more

I applied online for my SS on May 17th 2019 just prior to reaching my 70th Birthday, July 15th. I received an acknowledgment email saying I would have contact from SS within 30 days, if there were any problems with my application, also supplying a telephone number to call if I had any queries. I never received any communication since. I made several attempts to contact the number supplied, only to be told this number was no longer in service, and giving me another number to contact. I finally got to leave a voicemail at this new number, which promised a callback regarding my query within 48 hours. This never happened, even though I left two such voicemails. In desperation I went to my local SS Office in Savannah in September and was most fortunate to meet Miss Fortenberry to discuss my situation. She was professional, diligent and dedicated to helping me. Her attention and efforts to resolve my situation in my opinion, were over and above the call of her daily routine duties, for which I am extremely grateful.
