The preservation of downtown and adding the beautiful artistic touches of murals, art and landscaping that added to the charm. The huge remake of Sims Park changed the way you visit downtown. You want to take the kids to the playground even more, walk the circle around the pond- they just completed mirrored boardwalk/piers on either side of the pond and it looks amazing- or walk along the riverbank! New Port Richey holds numerous events downtown throughout the year- Bikefest drives in great revenue, Chasco Fiesta is fun for everyone, I loved the seafood festival every year too! They have worked to clean up the area downtown and create a safe and fun environment. Several places to eat and drink, including a newer brewery right in middle of downtown! There is also much more history here than many realize- a destination spot for famous actors and actresses in the 40's. Oh- and the mayor is great! He is invested in the city and has made amazing strides in the community.

So if you were a hollywood starlet... you probably hung out along the coastal waters and beaches of New Port Richey. You have stilt houses here. Fish camps. There is the famous Hacienda Hotel, which has been recently renovated and is now a very popular choice for a hotel. There is this guy named Thomas Meighan and golf legend Gene Sarazen... its a really sleepy place with an undercurrent of excitement. I actually see young people. Its not all seniors. People are finding it to be a cheaper alternative to live versus other areas in Florida. HURRICANES Hurricanes have hit this area HARD. VERY HARD. At first you don't see the damages ... but then... when you wander around a bit... you start to open your eyes.. and you see more... many areas still need recovery and renovation. Many homes were destroyed. The destroyed remains are not visible...just what is left...maybe a blank space or an unfinished piece of construction. There was Helene (2024), Milton (2024), Hurricane Easy, Hurricane Gladys, Hurricane Elena, Hurricane Jeanne, Debby, Hurricane Hermine, Hurricane Irma, Eta, Elsa, Hurricane Idalia... I was looking at places to buy, real estate.... its a goldmine here... lots and lots of fantastic opportunities.. Its a gold rush for investors. If I had a good construction team of workers (that I trusted), I would consider renovating some of these places here. Of course... insurance is another issue... haven't figured that out yet. But if you have a stomach for getting hit with hurricanes every few years over here in the gulf coast area... than this would be a good fit. The prices for homes and condos are at rock bottom prices... scoop them up while you can !

I hate doing a report on a police station, but I needed a police report…read more I am new to the Paco county area & fortunately I haven't had any problems with the the law, but someone caused me a whole bunch of a mess. Unlike Tpa, when you walk in there are officers there at the building working, not so in NPR. They literally have to call a patrolman in from working the streets to deal with you. Personally it made me feel like I might be depriving someone of needed assistance, but I was also in need. Everone was personable & friendly to deal with. I filled out my necessary reports & returned them & will wait to see what happens. New Port Richey is a small town, so I really can't compare it to Tampa. Overall, I guess the process is the same, so the location doesn't matter, just the outcome. What's a girl to do? I know it's odd, but cops are my friends.

for months, i had a problem with the suncoastnew.com company dropping off unwanted advertising in…read moremy driveway. i'm 81 and a viet era vet and hve trouble bending over trying to pick up the advertising rolls of newspaper. i made many calls to suncoast and they agreed tostop fropping off and take my name off their list and clean up the mess of papers they made for months. they never did and kept doing the dropff as usual.. it wasn't until i contacted the pasco county sheriff's office and a deputy sheriff calling them, did they stop and clean up the mess they left. if it weren't for the sherriff's office i would be still suffering. it is hard for me to bend over because of skeletal/muscle problems and i live alone. the sheriff's office in every state i've been in appear to be the most competent and trained in dealing with problems. pasco county sheriff's is one of the finest in our country,
