I was extremely anxious because it was my first surgery and my first time being put under general anesthesia. However, they took the time to reassure me, explain everything clearly, and make sure I felt comfortable before the procedure began. Their calm and supportive attitude truly made a difference. They checked in with me, answered all of my questions patiently, and never made me feel rushed. The procedure itself went smoothly, and before I knew it, I was waking up feeling relieved. One especially kind dental assistant(I think her name was Valeria?) even helped me into a wheelchair afterward and personally brought me out to my dad's car, making sure I was safe and comfortable the whole time. That small act of care meant so much to me. I'm so grateful for how caring and professional everyone was. From the moment I walked into Honest Oral Surgeon, the staff made me feel at ease. They were professional, friendly, and very patient. After taking my X-rays, they carefully explained everything to me and answered all my questions. I also watched a pre-procedure instruction video, which helped me understand what to expect. When I met Dr. Kim, he was professional, clear, and straightforward. He explained my treatment options concisely and also pointed out potential risks related to my other teeth. After discussing everything together, we decided to take a conservative approach -- remove the wisdom teeth first and monitor the other teeth to see if they could recover over time. I really appreciated being involved in the decision-making process. The surgery itself was excellent. It was my first time receiving anesthesia and having teeth extracted, and I can honestly say I felt absolutely no discomfort. Dr. Kim removed both wisdom teeth efficiently and skillfully. (Yes, I could hear the drill and some hammering sounds -- which was a little funny -- but I felt zero pain.) After the procedure, I followed the instructions carefully, took the prescribed medication, and applied ice as recommended. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for their front office coordination. I recently tried to replace a cracked retainer (top and bottom) that I've worn consistently since my corrective jaw surgery. What should have been a straightforward process turned into a frustrating and confusing situation due to repeated miscommunication. I was initially told to wait until I could provide dental insurance before scheduling, which delayed my visit unnecessarily--only to find out later that the office didn't even request that information when I came in. Then, despite clearly explaining multiple times that I needed a full top and bottom retainer, I was told one was ready for pickup. After driving 40 minutes, I was given another night guard--the same one I already have and did not need. Dr. Hoover personally acknowledged the mistake and confirmed that the correct retainer would be made and mailed to me. I paid what I was told was the full amount for the proper retainer. However, I then received a call from Dawn-Marie stating I owed an additional $155, contradicting everything I had previously been told by both her and the front desk staff. During that call, Dawn-Marie was dismissive, spoke over me, and laughed at me multiple times while I was trying to explain the situation. At one point, she questioned why I didn't go through my orthodontist and laughed when I explained my confusion. This was unprofessional and disrespectful. Overall, the lack of communication between the coordinator, staff, and doctors has been extremely frustrating. I'm still waiting for a resolution while concerned about my teeth shifting due to not having the correct retainer. The were drilling my molars to replace the metal filling and I told them they were shocking my face every time they touched it with the drill which was pretty painful, they literally asked me if I can just tolerate it rather than numbing me more. SMH I had a root canal with them done which got infected immediately. Not only that but they shaved my actual molar to almost non existent and kept making my gums bleed due to plying out their "temp" tooth. They are contracted with a dentist next door which helps with infected root canals. It makes me wonder if they purposely didn't care for me to send me that way. I've never had such an incompetent dental office. There's a reason why they are only open 2 days of the week now. If I could I would sue the sh** out of this place.

I was able to make an appointment with Dr. Yu a few days later he took the time out of his busy schedule to survey the tooth and told me that it was a concussion and to let it heal. I came back a couple weeks later and got some x-rays and thankfully it healed about a month later. I'd appreciate his care and great bedside manner, even my anxiety. I recently came back for a check up and cleaning and I have to admit I got the best cleaning from Cindy. She started with asking me about any concerns I had and I mentioned enamel erosion. Well what I thought was enamel erosion was a lot of tartar on the surface of my teeth and she was able to really scale through all my tartar as well as clean the stains on the bottom of my teeth and make my teeth polished, clean and shiny like a new set of teeth! Also love the front desk staff! They are always so kind and organized. I actually was able to come in earlier due to a cancellation because they had made a note of it late last year!

Went to OC Smiles on Friday 3/13/26 for a loose implant because my dentist is closed on Fridays…read more Helena was great and the only good thing i will have to say about my experience. I didn't need a diagnosis, since I told the dentist that my implant was loose. He decided to take a ct scan, charge me for it and charge me for his false "diagnosis." $290 later.. he told me I need a New crown and wanted me to pay $2900 to return for 2 more visits to "fix" it. I Declined his outrageous treatment plan, knowing my implant was just loose. I waited until Monday with no problems and went to my dentist Dr. John Vartanian (Newport Beach) who did the implant for me. He tightened the screw and I was out of there in 10 minutes for free. I believe SoCal Smiles owes me $290 back for their unnecessary scan and incorrect diagnosis. They were trying to sell me something I didn't need and I'm quite upset about how this was handled when I brought it to their attention. I would go elsewhere and not trust this place with your time or money.
