I am very grateful to Dr. Thiede for providing surgical dental care for my father. My father suffered a stroke and is permanently disabled, with significant mobility and communication limitations. Multiple dental offices were unable to treat him due to the need for medical clearance and hospital-based care. After several weeks of unsuccessful coordination, my father developed a fever and was admitted through the emergency department, where we met Dr. Thiede. Dr. Thiede evaluated my father in the hospital and proceeded with the removal of all infected teeth. My father was admitted on a Friday evening, seen by Dr. Thiede on Saturday morning, and the procedure was appropriately scheduled and completed on Sunday. Dr. Thiede was thorough, patient, and took the time to answer all questions, which was greatly appreciated given the complexity of my father's medical condition. The office and hospital staff were also professional, kind, and accommodating. During a follow-up visit, our wheelchair transport service canceled at the last minute, and my father had not been eating for several days post-discharge. Despite scheduling constraints, the staff accommodated his appointment without hesitation and without making us feel at fault. As a result of the care provided, my father is recovering well and has been able to resume eating. Going to the dentist is never top of my list. Had fractured molar, infected and getting painful. Dr. Thiede and staff made a very uncomfortable situation, comfortable. The office staff-many have been there over 10 years, were very professional and friendly. I took a few days after my oral surgery to gather my thoughts before writing this review about my experience with Dr. Thiede--and honestly, I'm so glad I did, because now I can truly express how grateful I am. First things first: I'm not easy to please. I've had some pretty severe dental trauma in my past, so walking into SoCal was nerve-wracking to say the least. But the moment Dr. Thiede administered the local anesthesia, I knew I was in excellent hands. I was bracing myself for something intense--maybe a jab to the jaw or pressure on the bone--but... I felt nothing. Not even a pinch. It was so gentle and smooth that I kept thinking, "Wait, that's it?" Throughout the whole procedure, Dr. Thiede checked on me constantly. There were even a few moments where I caught myself giggling--partly from nerves, but mostly because I couldn't believe how easy he made it. Every time he moved to a different area, I'd say, "That's it?" and he'd smile and say yes, complimenting me on being a great patient. But let's be real--he's just an exceptional surgeon who made it easy to be a good patient. I have zero complaints, and my healing process has been incredibly smooth. I genuinely thank God for leading me to Dr. Thiede. One more thing I really appreciate: SoCal is a gorgeous, prestigious clinic. A lot of the clients there looked like they stepped out of a luxury magazine--but the environment was completely welcoming and inclusive. I was referred to Dr. Theide by my dentist to check out a growth on the side of a molar on the gum. The receptionist tells you upfront what the consultation fee would be, so I wasn't surprised. Dr. Theide was very nice, didn't pressure me and gave me some options. Told me how the recovery will be and gave me some time to think about what I wanted to do. I decided to have the biopsy done sooner than later and when the day came, I was scared out of my mind. He put me at ease and the biopsy surprisingly did not hurt at all, not even the injection! A pain med was called into my pharmacy, and I only took one pill! The "hole" healed within 2 weeks just in time for my follow-up appointment. The office staff was pretty nice every time I called--Rafael and the receptionist. There was ample parking. I definitely will go back to Dr. Theide if I ever need an oral surgeon. Husband was in the hospital for an infection in his heart. The infection was caused by a bad tooth. The hospital had Dr. Theide come in to do the oral surgery for the tooth before they did the heart surgery. Dr Theide was very rude and very short with my husband and my daughter. They decided to postpone the operation so they sent my husband home and said to call Dr. Theide's office to make the appointment for the tooth pulling. Spoke to 2 different people in the office and both were very rude. I was told because he was on medicare they won't take him. Not sure why when the hospital called him in. Medicare pays when it has to do with a heart valve replacement. They refused. Now I have to find another oral surgeon who is not familiar with what has been going on with my husband. Dr. Theide had been called from the beginning and had been consulted with all the other doctors. read more

Very disappointing experience, especially after I was referred to them by a close relative. Long story short, I have tried multiple times (I believe it's either 5 or 6 times to date) to get my crown fitted appropriately for my new implant, since food keeps getting stuck every time I chew on the right side of my mouth. My Lake Forest dentist states that if this isn't corrected, it will lead to major issues like gum disease. Today, after driving over there after work, I waited for over a half hour as I listened to him talk to a prospective client next to me (apparently a bigger priority than me since they already have my monies) after having to basically beg the front office to have Dr. Thiede see me this afternoon. This is because they only see new, prospective clients in the afternoon. I guess I am supposed to take off another day of work to hope and pray that Thiede gets it right after several opportunities to do so. Moreover, the office manager and their other front office staff are extremely rude when I call to try and get this issue resolved time and time again, since I can't keep taking days off of work to see him in the AM. I will either be getting my monies back from them so I can go find/pay for a new oral surgeon or I will be taking this to small claims court. So, this is a bit of a weird review since I didn't exactly have any treatment here yet, but that's actually the point, I needed to come here after my dentist and endodontist referral. I walked in thinking I might need to extract 2 molars, and Dr Thiede said that given the careful analysis of my xrays, we could certainly push that off. It's been nerly a year, and indeed he was right. So if you're afraid that this is one of those places where they'll push treatements on you that you don't need, I can put your mind at ease. Due to wearing adult braces however, one of those molars are flarring off again, and I might end up needing to get it extracted + implant, it's just a really old root canal starting to show it's age, so I'll probably end up scheduling my treatment with them soon, knowing I wont get upsold on anything. read more

Be careful with this Oral Surgeon office. Came in for an initial meeting with Doctor Thiede for an extraction and implant. He seemed very knowledgeable and experienced. When the nurse Terry came in afterwards to talk about fees, she proceeded to tell me the cost was $140 for the consultation. There was no mention of a cost or charge up front, so I questioned it and basically got "it is what it is". So I reluctantly paid their fee and got out. Please be careful about this office. They are not up front about their costs. I'm relieved that I did not continue with them. read more

A tale of two aspects for Sons wisdom teeth extractions Visit in June 2023. Son started having issues at tale end of school year with pain with his wisdom teeth and we had to attend to my fathers ashes release ceremony immediately after via plane and 7 days later attend the Junior National Championships for Vball. Had a tight window of 5 days thay we would be back home i between long flights - called 8 offices and this office was 1 of 2 that was able to accommodate our tight window before his tournament on such late notice. His reviews on Yelp were outstanding. Dental care was top notch 4.5 stars but with one inconvenience. Dr Thiede had great personality and office manner. All the forms were electronic but I remember he was upset because all of the forms that he reviewed in our pre-op meeting with us were not completed as they should have been. He had a ear piece and mic on and was complaining to his office staff to be more attentive and not waste his time. Post surgery- No issues with dry rot, busted suture, or anything else. Good take-home aftercare kit! - only issue from Dental Care perspective is that the pain meds that were supposedly confirmed to be e-submitted into the pharmacy were not by the time I got there, 30 mins after. I asked my pharmacy who even showed me their recent orders and that no order had been sent in their system from his office. I called the dentist office and they said they would "re-send" it...I had pharmacy even speak to the doctor office to confirm that nothing had been received since now they were wasting my time and wanted to confirm they had the right pharmacy info ...finally came through after 15-20 mins. The Office staff- 2 stars... The office's ability to workout the insurance aspect - far from ideal. I had dual dental coverage... they supposedly confirmed that I would have no payment based on my dual coverage.... Which I know can change based on how they submit charges and what the insurance companies say. However, they never called me or left me a voicemail to indicate a payment was due. First notification I got was a letter from bill collection agency for $50 charge plus 5$ fee. I called the doc office and said this is the first notification I have received. Should I not have received a phone call with a voicemail??? So I paid over the phone and asked that a receipt be sent...and that I should not be charged the 5$ fee. I provided the email address. However nothing was sent. And of course what i do see on my billing statement - the 55$ total. FSA provider wants receipt but can't provide it since they won't send it as of Nov 2023. Find out that an single courtesy bill was delivered to my neighbors house who were traveling for 3 months...back around late Aug... just got it today from them. Still awaiting a receipt. Very inconvenient and annoying. read more

My 9 yr old daughter was having a very difficult time as she was having alot of anxiety so that made the experience traumatic for her. They probably don't deal with alot children here. Last week, I scheduled an appointment to get my child's wisdom teeth removed. Everything went smoothly at first until your finance representative, Terry, entered the private room and displayed a standoffish attitude. There was no use of a name or a formal greeting; not even a simple hello. I experienced discomfort right away. She didn't even ask my name before she started talking about billing and how much we "owe" for this meeting as soon as she sat down. To quickly set the scene, I was not informed via phone call regarding a bill for the meeting that day. That is comparable to asking someone to inflate your tires when they become flat, only to have them hand you a bill detailing how much you must pay for the air. Why wasn't it brought up earlier? Furthermore, I thought everything would be covered because your service providers appeared to operate with my dental, but when I talked about it in person, it turned out that wasn't the case? Unbelievable. Terry was not at all helpful. She chose to have a negative attitude rather than engaging in a reasonable discussion of this from my perspective to resolve this issue. She continued to dispute with me despite the fact that my record even said that billing was not discussed on the phone call prior to my visit. She said "it's just Terry" and stood there giving me a snide look when I asked her for her last name. Even when I requested for the name of her supervisor, she flatly refused. Then she replied "this place isn't for you" as she opened the door motioning us to "leave." I waited for Dr. Naman J. Desai, who had previously assisted me in any questions I had regarding the wisdom teeth extraction, and we had a lengthy discussion about this. With Terry's "cut to the chase" mentality and lack of any explanation, he claimed to have had the same problem. Her attitude has obviously been an issue for more than just me because he has also said that he "wanted to step out of the conversation" when she would act in this manner. Billing is something that no one wants to "cut to the chase" on. Not with how much the cost of everything right now is. Why THIS costs THIS and why THAT costs THAT must be explained in great detail. Do not rush billing. I was told by Dr. Naman J. Desai that he understood my situation and that we wouldn't be charged for the meeting that day. As soon as I came home, I discovered that they instead attempted to charge my insurance carrier. I didn't just have a negative encounter with Terry there; you guys even lied to me! Very rude and unprofessional. I will not be a paying "customer" to this establishment when you treat your customers this way. Ridiculous. Please don't come here, whoever is considering it. Move your business somewhere else. read more

I have taken my daughter who has Autism to many different Doctors and Dentist but I cant tell you if you want to be cared for by the most awesome people who will go to great lengths for you and your child this is the place for you. Since my child takes medication and will be hard to handle this Doctor was kind and willing to do what was necessary to care for her so she would have a great experience getting her wisdom teeth taken out ( if there is a good experience...lol) AND for that I will be grateful for this Office. But its not just the Doctors but ALL of the staff as they moved around and smiled as she (high on happy gas) told me she did good and gave me her instructions for the day. As we left and went home the Dr called to check on her and we all know that is also a plus. But for a Mom of a Autistic Child it means more when we sometimes are left alone to care for our kids without a thought. She is now recovered and doing well like that day never happened other than laughs and giggles Thank you so much for what your did and how you treated her she will always remember you all. Very disappointed with the manager of this place!!! She sent me to collections I never got any notice that my insurance didn't pay $150 not even a letter or a call neither voice messages!!!! Would never ever returning to to this place!!!! Spoke to Stephanie the office manager she was very rude and disrespectful plus she was not professional at all and did not have an explanation on why they sent me to collections she lied saying she left voice messages in which I never received. They don't care. She told me she had she my number on file but I never got any calls regarding what my insurance did not pay for yet instead they quickly sent me to collections. This place does not even deserve one star, never going back here again. Lesson learned. People here don't know how to handle finances. I Won't recommend this place! read more

Dr. Thiede performed my wisdom tooth extraction in 2017. I'm coming back here 5 years later to note that the parasthesia he caused in my jaw has never gone away. I went back for several follow-ups after the operation, worried because the numbness in the right side of my face, lower jaw, and mouth lining was not subsiding. He continued to brush it off and tell me over and over again that it would go away and to come back for another follow up in a few weeks. To this day, I have no sensation in about 25% of my face because of something that happened during the operation, which they refused to specify, explain, or take responsibility for. ALSO- I'm petrified of needles and it took the nurse EIGHT tries to get the IV in correctly. Eventually I started to panic and another doctor ran into the room and jabbed it into the top of my hand. I had massive bruising about 8 inches up and down the inside of my right arm for weeks. I'm not usually one to write reviews, but I hope this office has better practices in place since my experience there. read more

Thiede removed my wisdom teeth years ago but I never forgot the number of things he botched, nor the shocking way they were botched. Brought me in to watch a video on wisdom teeth removal, then asked my parents if they were ready to start right then. What good oral surgeon has a gaping hole in his schedule like that?! Didn't explain the IV so I hyperventilated and they had to gas me. I woke up crying and he brusquely barked "If you don't stop crying, I won't bring your parents in." Bumped the nerve in my jaw/cheek during surgery and was numb on that entire side of my face for months afterward. Oh and the kicker: I developed an infection the following week. Danielle answered the phone and place me on hold so that someone else can help me to make an appointment- unfortunately I got directed to another lady who was extremely rude. She had no customer service skills - no greetings, but only aggressive tone. She asked me which dentist recommended them, I answered, and an aggressive response of "who!!?" Was what I got. (At this point I am already feeling not wanting to book an appointment with them- so I said, "never mind"). But she continued to ask, how do you spell it!? (Again, aggressively), while I was spelling the dentist's name..... she just hung-up!!! Ok- I'm never going there for sure. Terry provided me all the information I required (to consider making an informed decision) promptly and over the telephone, my initial consultation (with Dr. Thiede was as comprehensive as it was comforting), and, most importantly, the care and excellence I received during my surgical procedure was outstanding! I was referred to Dr Theide for having a couple if teeth pulled and implants to replace them. I was very pleased with the honesty and service provided. Everything was just as he said it would be. The place is completely up to date. Blood pressure check took 5 seconds, xrays were all done in one shot. Local anesthesia (my choice) was quick and effecient. Getting teeth pulled is NOT a fun experience, but having an oral surgeon who genuinely cared about making it a less traumatic experience was appreciated. Thumbs up to Dr Theide and his staff.
