I had a girls trip to miami recently for a spring break getaway. First time any of us had ever been to miami and this was the highlight of our trip! Highly recommend the sunset cruise so you can still enjoy the weather and some daylight. It was so much fun the boat is huge and so nice, staff was very professional and helpful. You'll see breathtaking views, great tour of celebrity houses in star island, good drink selection and small bites, and the miami skyline is gorgeous at night. This was such a great deal bought it on livingsocial and would definitely do again, highly recommend! Thanks again! read more

Stay away from this company. Booked a sail. They asked for my contact number. Night of sail we showed up but no one was there. I called multiple times that day. No response. They didn't get back to me for 5 days. Ruined a night of our vacation. Worst customer service ever. read more

I bought 2 tickets from Groupon and he sent me a broken link, no response on the email I sent. I called 3 times and talked to John who tried to make me look stupid like I don't know how to open the reservation link. He said I can text him my info and he will take care of it... still nothing, no response on text. Very Irresponsible! It is sad how people like this run a business and scam people. read more

This has been the best boat cruise I have been on yet. The sunset cruise was absolutely amazing. Cesar was a wonderful first mate very funny and had great stories and information on what we were seeing. I recommend this company to anyone looking for a good time. read more

Great time, a must while in the miami area. Ceaser and crew made it real fun. great tour of star island.

Tour was unreal. The staff new every single question we asked. Super friendly. Felt like you were on the boat with all friends as opposed to just staff. Benny the bartender legit would walk around serving drinks so you didn't have to get up if you didn't want to 10/10. Best part of the trip. read more

I purchased sunset tickets online for a date and it was nothing short of an amazing time, the crew was especially nice I wasn't expecting the tour to be so beautiful, i have never seen millionaires houses from that perspective before, I was in awe. Watching the sunset while laying down on the nets was so romantic making it perfect for our 1 year anniversary my girlfriend loved it. read more

Bought tickets for the groove cruise departing on 6/10. Ubered from south beach and upon arrival no boat was to be found. Upon calling 5x with no answer I finally received a call back stating an email was sent earlier in the day stating it was cancelled. Check my email and found no such cancellation notice. The representative informed me he was issuing a refund which I have yet to receive and actually had the nerve to laugh and say "hey man, at least your in a nice area downtown." Seriously?? *Update* - After speaking with John over the phone he apologized for the confusion and has since issued a full refund and included the fare for my uber rides back and forth. Thanks for making this right John!! read more

I just did this cruise for the first time today. There is nothing not to like about this cruise. Great staff, awesome entertainment, unlimited wine and snacks (cheese, crackers, hummus, vegetables .....), you just cannot ask for more. All served with so much enthusiasm. We had such a great time and did not think twice to tip the crew handsomely. I will certainly do this again. Genny read more

Was tricky to find, they should put some signs up so you know where to go and where the boat leaves from. Once we got on the boat the service was great, the crew was so nice and accommodating. Beautiful sunset, plenty of food and drinks and a relaxing, fun trip. Would definitely do again! read more

Correction sir, in order to be considered your customer, I would have had to use your services. Therefore, not possible for me to be your "worst customer" if I was never your customer in the first place. Thanks for your concern and respect during this family crisis. I hope your actual customers see the way you responded and steer clear. I'll be sure to spread the word as well. Peace to you. read more

Loved the sail. Great hospitality from the crew. They seemed to be very knowledgeable about the tour. Great snacks and drinks included in the sail. I highly recommend this sail if you are visiting Miami. read more

We were referred by the concierge at the Viceroy Hotel, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. These guys were easy to communicate back and forth with by text message. When we were looking for the address / directions, as we were taking a cab, the guys called and offered to speak with the cab driver directly, which we appreciated. They're actually quite easy to find on Brickell Key, by the well known Rusty Pellican. We enjoyed a great tour over an hour-plus, and enjoyed excellent instruction as to how to operate the jet ski. Stephen was a great guide. We'd go back and use this service again. Very nice folks. read more

Arrived at location prior to 8:45pm boarding time. Saw a small group assembled and inquired if they are going on groove cruise. There was no representative or sign indicating groove cruise. No sign of boat at 9pm. Another person contacted them then advised we will leave at 9:15pm. We departed around 9:40pm. Hors d'oeuvres were stale and not appetizing. Drinks were satisfactory. Music was off and on and terrible. Please invest in a good music system and a microphone for the guide. Can't say it was that great but cannot recommend. read more

Absolutely incredible!!!! I'm speechless as to how beautiful the views were and how great the service was. I am bringing everyone I know on this cruise. It's absolutely breathtaking and so so so worth the price. Highly highly recommend! read more

Cruised with several friends on June 11, 2015. Wonderful sunset cruise with experienced, caring crew on clean comfortable catamaran ! Narrated tour of the mansions, great telephone service to discuss access and seating for disabled person (thank you, David!), nice spread of several cheeses, cold crisp grapes, veggies, pita chips, hummus, all kinds of ice cold beverages. Crew members cheerfully attended to disabled person throughout the cruise, and carefully assisted his entry and exit. Can't wait to recommend this to our Couchsurfers next week! read more

It was a great time. The boat sailed on time, played good music, and was a good tour of Miami. The staff were very accommodating and helpful. I would recommend to bring a sweater if you are going at night but overall a great experience!! read more

We took a sunset charter this past week with a group of 20 co workers. This cruise is amazing. What a beautiful cruise around downtown Miami. The views were amazing. The staff was incredible and very attentive. The entire experience was so wonderful, we will be booking again. I cannot say enough great things about the service we received from Gordon who helped us book the trip, Macco the first mate and the captain. I highly recommend this charter for everyone! read more

We booked the sunset cruise but what it really was a booze cruise on a catamaran. They left the dock 30 minutes late and stayed out over an hour longer than they were supposed to. I had dinner reservations that I had to move once and then eventually cancel because they didn't make it back even at the later time they promised. The "cruise" itself was fine and the first mate and bartender were nice, but they had no awareness or consideration for time. This cruise is for you if you want to be stuck on a catamaran with completely drunk people for over 3 hours. read more

My girls and I did the Groupon Sunset Tour for my bachelorette getaway last weekend. Let me say, of the 4 days we were there, this was one of the top events/experiences of the entire trip! At first, we were skeptical about the boat itself, but once we got seated and started moving, I fell in love with the view, and the water, and the people on the boat were so friendly! How can you say no to unlimited beer and wine?! On the boat were mates James, Ferris, along with the captain and Dorie Ann who was our bartender. They were so sweet and friendly and made our cruise worth every second! The tour lasted about 2.5-3 hours and we got to see the sunset which was breathtaking. We also learned about some of the humongous mansions on Star Island - so informative and cool! I would highly recommend them to anyone who wants to do a nice sunset tour in Miami! Thank you!!! read more

I bought a groupon for the sunset cruise in February, to use on a visit to Miami. The weather ended up being too cold, so we gave the groupon to family that live in Miami. They just went last night and wrote me first thing this morning to rave about how much they enjoyed it. "It was really beautiful. We sat up front around and in the webbing over the water between the boat points. The water was choppy, but the boat is very stable. A romantic atmosphere as the sun set in the 2nd half of the ride. Miami downtown is very lit up and colorful at night. We had a small tour of the millionaire's homes and some history toward the end of the trip. There was wine, beer, sodas, snacks." read more

The day started out great, we anchored and enjoyed the sandbar. The main reason I wanted to go was to use the jet skis which we paid extra just to wait forever to even have a 5 min ride. We never ended up getting that chance because it started to rain and thunder. We headed back after only about an hour out on the water. There was FAR too many people on the trip because we got drenched on our way back (it looked like they were just trying to cram as much people and money into one day)! They promised that the owner would do "something" for us since our day was ruined. It has been several months now and have not even gotten a response after several calls and emails! There are much better companies to use down in Miami then this! If you need recommendations let me know but do not use PlayTime, overpriced and not worth the Time! read more

My husband and I took the Sunset Cruise on Sunday 3/3. We were suppose to be on the Great White boat but were moved to the Mariah due to a 'private' party. The Mariah is not nearly as nice so that was disappointment number one. Second - we were supposed to take off at 5:45 but there was a group of people (celebrating a birthday) who were over a half hour late. Thus we took the cruise in the dark and could hardly see the 'million $ homes'. Beautiful evening skyline but seriously - make everyone cruise in the dark!! Lastly the drinks and appetizers were directly from Kirkland - mind you I don't mind Costco food but you would think that they could make this a little bit more special. read more

After countless attempts at making a reservation, we were able to work out a day that my girlfriend and I could fit into our busy schedules. On the night of the cruise we were left with nothing but disappointment... The boat didn't show up at the time we were told, but better yet there was no communication to let us know that there would be a delay. This was supposed to be my anniversary present to my girlfriend however we were unable to attend the excursion... I asked to be given a full refund for the waste of money I have given to this business and still have yet to hear a response. I would like everyone to know about the level of service and lack of class this organization provides. Would've left half a star if i could. Distasteful. Disrespectful. Unsatisfied. read more

We did the 10am-2pm ride. It was the perfect Sunday. Kayaking, snorkeling, paddleboarding, beer, wine, fun crew, good music, beautiful weather. We'll be doing this again no doubt. read more

Absolutely loved the jet ski tour ! They took a few days to respond to my messages about booking a reservation but once they did contact me they were really helpful and accommodating. Beautiful!! read more

I have not even gotten to Miami yet, I live in Houston and I will be coming to Miami at the end of the month and Mr. John Oaks has been so accommodating for me and my family. We are having a group of 25 to go on this cruise for a celebration. If his customer service has been this great just over the phone I know that it will be a amazing excursion for us. So excited to get there!! Thanks again John read more

The sunset cruise was a perfect choice for our company social event. We were a group of roughly 35 people which was the perfect size for the "Great White". Coordinating the event with John was a seamless experience. He was very accommodating and easy to work with. Furthermore, we requested a "Mediterranean buffet" and the restaurant he ordered from was fantastic! He handled all logistics and the food/drink was all set up upon arrival. Aboard the boat, the staff were extremely hospitable and responsive to requests. The actual cruise was fantastic - spanning Biscayne Bay with incredible views of the Miami skyline, multi-million dollar homes and other notable attractions. After we got back to the marina, I took a survey of the group, and the unanimous consensus was the experience was "perfect". I would highly recommend Play Time Watersports and in particular - the sunset cruise! read more

if i could give zero stars i would! cancelled our excursion at 8pm the night before did not give 20-24 hours notice! i was planning to go with friends for my birthday and he called and cancelled with them but not me (my friends had to tell me that he cancelled and i called him) due to "maybe being late for our excursion"!!! i think he overbooked and last minute had to remove some people! was told i would get a refund and never did had to file a claim with my bank! do not book! take your money elsewhere!!! update: leave a negative and truthful review and you will receive an angry phone call from john accusing you of lying! john, learn from your reviews and do better. do not get mad and call clients about their truthful reviews! he certainly leaves a bitter taste in your mouth. once again, do not book! read more

Purchased a Groupon for the Sunset Cruise. Very easy to book. Received a response back in less than 24 hours with instructions on how to book with a voucher. Bring $2.50 per person for taxes not covered by Groupon. Very nice cruise, we really enjoyed ourselves. Please note that in correspondence it does say docking is at 6 but it was actually 630pm which they advised us was incorrect and thanked us for making them aware so they could change it (we were there at 545pm and they were wondering why) and we arrived back at 9. Crew was fantastic-friendly and informative. Great selection of beer, red and white wine, soda and water. Snacks were hummus, pita chips, grapes, cheese, triscuts, carrots and celery and they were always replenished. Great narrative tour of Star Island and of the Miami Skyline. Definitely recommend this tour. This is casual dress, no need to dress up. read more

WARNING!! this company allows overbooking of their cruises. so even if you have a confirmation number you can end up standing on the dock while the boat takes off. This happened to me and two friends. Also the departure was delayed for over an hour and we received no notice. We found out when we arrived at the stated time. We killed time around the location only to be denied boarding later because of overbooking. In total 3+ hours wasted. read more

I found a Groupon promising "4 hours of motorized equipment rental" for $100. I sent an email to make sure I understood the deal right and I was told via email that the Groupon allows me to ride a waverunner without having to pay any hidden fees. Upon arriving I realized this was a complete lie. We arrived at the location where we stayed for the entirety of the four hours , and I was told that all the waverunners were unavailable and all they had available was a small plastic dingy with a 25cc engine which I later found out had been throttle down to only allow speeds up to 8-10 knots. Besides the deceit revolving the waverunner the trip was accompanied by an air of melancholy. I realized it wasn't just me having a miserable time. Everyone seemed to be sitting around waiting for those 4 grueling hours grind by. On top of everything, the snorkeling gear was clearly cheap and used up, the food consisted of crackers and cheese with some grapes, and the sandbar we were taking to was riddled with old beer cans and sea urchins.. The only positive comment I could possibly salvage from that "once in a life time experience" is the boats crew. The captain, first-mate, and bartender were helpful and seemed to be working with what they had been given by the owner of the boat. I'm not one to complain or give bad reviews but that experience definitely deserves everything I wrote. IN SUMMARY: STEER CLEAR! read more

This review is specific to the 2 hour sunset sail. While the sunset sail redeemed itself quite a bit, there are many opportunities to improve the overall customer experience. When we booked the trip, we did it over the phone and almost zero details were provided as to what was required to board and we found that the web site was out dated. The web site stated two hour cruise that included champagne, but it actually turned out to be open bar. When we arrived, they wanted to see a printed ticket (which we did not have) and the lady was not familiar with the way we had paid over the phone. They also asked you to be for the the taxes in cash (luckily we had cash, but no one told us about this beforehand). They told us to be at the dock by 6 pm sharp and that the boat would leave at 6:30 - no excuses. We did not board till 6:30 and were late so we got rained on instead of having missed it by leaving on time. Why tell us to be their early if you are not going to honor it. The lady also did not have a list of people who paid so she had to check every single ticket or receipt (very inefficient and time consuming). We took the great white and had a good time minus the girls who got on late and made a scene the whole time just boozing. The boat also had an issue with the engine and had to stop, but one of the deck hands was fantastic and got us going. I hope my tip went directly to him rather than the rest of the crew. Bottom line - the experience could be improved dramatically, but we managed to have a good time anyway. read more

Awesome, awesome, awesome!! Booked a sunset cruise for several of our friends with 'John' at Play Time, who could not be more cordial or helpful. Their location is priceless, both on land and when you embark on the sea!! Food and service were fantastic! Very professionally run! Our friends remarked that they felt "in good hands and well taken care of!" Not to mention, a perfect sunset with nice night views Miami's rockin' coastline and neighboring areas!! Husband and I are Floridians for the last 10 years and it took that long to find this GEM on the Ocean!! The best in sea-going entertainment!! It's Play Time! Book it now, Danno! read more

I've been on this catamaran a few times already. Each time I have some guests coming to Miami we invite them for the sunset cruise and we always have great time. My friends love it! all of them, those with kids and seniors too. It is a great fun and a nice tour to see a bit of Miami, especially during the summer months when the sunset is a bit later. The staff is super nice. I highly recommend to everyone who likes boats, fun and want to see a bit of Miami! read more

I give a 4 star not 5 bc of customer service you get before the journey starts. You can't reserve online and when you call it says to email. I explained I will be on vacation for a short period of time and need to know ASAP if I have a reservation bc if not I'll have to plan something else. Took days to get back to me with available dates and days later to say it's confirmed. On groupon it doesn't mention taxes but the email from them mention it but not how much just that it has to be cash. It wasn't much just 2.50 a person. Is not dinner so eat before or after ... It's cheese and crackers and veggies and hummus and wine and beer. So the price it's well worth it. It was super relaxing. Bring a sweater. Once you get past the wait time and processing problems you'll have a nice time aboard. read more

Went on the evening cruise the other night and it was absolutely awesome! I really enjoyed it.. Staff was great. Those little cakes are so damn good.. My two biggest gripes are John . He is pretty much impossible to get a hold of. It's like he goes out of his way to make sure you don't get am answer or call back. Secondly, theres no signage, so we had no clue we were even in the right place. read more

Day of the cruise was great. Staff was very informative, polite, and funny. Went on a tour around star island. Music on the catamaran was great. You hang out and the staff comes around refilling your drinks and making sure you have everything you need so it was very relaxing. I enjoyed the excursion very much. I definitely recommend it.
