The best part of the trip was how we had the boat exclusively to ourselves! I didn't know it'd be a private tour until the day I came. So, the boat was just a total of 3 people (captain included). The water temperature was great and the clarity was decent. We even saw two dolphins! You meetup at Whiskey Joe's at the marina and you can start your excursion immediately. I liked that you didn't need to wait around much. I was able to see some cool looking fish, a bottom feeder and a crab. You get 2 hours for the snorkeling and you're not required to wear any life vests (in fact, we weren't offered any and I didn't see any). The water is super shallow so it didn't seem dangerous at all. The water is also salty and easy to float in. The boat was nearby the main snorkeling area. The bad: The area for snorkeling was pretty small. It was an artificial reef where the fish were but outside of that area there is just seagrass and there's no living things to observe. The website says snorkeling starts at $75/pp and up but that's misleading b/c that's only the price if you have 8+ people. When I came to the marina, the worker who had me sign paperwork said that "$25/hour tip is required" when I got an email saying 15% tip is optional. My husband clarified and he said "yes, it's required" but later retracted his statement after I clarified that it was strange to give tip upfront before we even went on the excursion. However, I did already give 15% tip upfront on 50% of the value and then Zelled an additional $25 tip to the captain himself afterward. The cost for snorkeling ended up being $407 for 2 people (pricey). The interesting: The captain swam with us to lead us to the reef and then swam back and was mostly on his phone.

I was told a marathon was impacting traffic, but as a traveler who planned ahead and arrived on time, this is something the company should have anticipated and communicated more clearly. I also spent about $80 in Uber fees just getting to the meeting location, which added to the frustration. To their credit, the guide later connected me with the first food stop and arranged for tacos and issued a full refund, which I appreciated. However, the bigger disappointment was the lost opportunity--I could have booked a drag show or another tour during that time instead of waiting. Customer service tried to make things right after the fact, but better planning, proactive communication, and respect for guests' time would have made a big difference.

Ten minutes later, that bus stopped right in front of Miami Tours to pick up more passengers. The EXACT SAME STAFF MEMBER who told us their tour was cancelled and that there were no other options boarded our new bus to escort the group. When I confronted him, he pretended he didn't know us. The Aftermath: Zero Accountability: I have sent multiple refund requests through their website--ignored. Abysmal Service: I called their office four times. Every single time, the representative hung up the phone on me before I could even finish explaining the issue. Better Value Elsewhere: The competitor a block away is not only $15 cheaper, but their schedule (10:20-20:50) is far superior to Miami Tours' restrictive 09:30-17:00 window. We went with the cheaper deal on Groupon. The duck boat was parked in front of a park. We got there early so there was no line. The boat was really clean and new looking. There was the captain and the narrator, both were dressed like pirates since the theme of this boat was a pirate ship. They were both friendly and informative; the narrator did a great job with hosting and telling jokes; keeping us awake. They drove us around town and pointed out different buildings and landmarks. The coolest part was when we drove from land into water! It made a big splash but we didn't get wet. We cruised by mansions and other boats.
