From the moment we got off the train we could not have been happier! The entire staff is amazing! The experience is incredible! We enjoyed a morning of zipping, stopped for a provided delicious sweet treat and water, then continued zipping until the gourmet lunch! Then we zipped until the end of the day and had to climb aboard the train to return home. The guides made sure we all understood the safety aspects and how to do each line. What a fun day. Started with a 40 mins train ride open cart into the zip line location. The train is slow and right next to the cliff with view of the mountain and the San Juan river right below. There are 27 zip lines from easier ones to higher and faster ones. Including the last one of 1400ft long going through the forest and over the over. The zip lines are build in an eco tree hugging way so there's no penetration into the tree. So there's no damage to the tree but still can hold a huge amount of weight. The zip line is very safe. You see are range from young kids to 70+ elder. In the end everyone is competing their tricks. The staffs are super friendly and make the experience very memorable. read more

Awesome from start to finish and worth every penny! I highly recommend this to people of all ages. I originally booked in late May but had to cancel because I hurt my hand. They assured me I could reschedule any time or transfer it to someone. And I received a follow up call/email asking about my hand. From the time I arrived at Rockwood Station throughout the whole day, each staff member was great. Each was professional, put me at ease, informative, polite, and fun. The surroundings are beautiful and even more so if you go during the fall foliage. Aspen Alley is stunning, and was my favorite. Also, the chef catered to everyone's needs and was very attentive. The food was very good. And I appreciated a modified version of the veggie option. Would be willing to go again if friends visit and are up for it. Just do it. Feeling welcome by all the staff continually from start to finish was exceptional. If I was a boss I'd employ them all. It was my first time to zip line and at no time did I feel unsafe or unsupervised. The course took you through the beautiful forests and over the river. I loved that you didn't have to wear a helmet or worry about braking and the freedom to do some silly tricks and have a laugh at each other. Lunch was included at a lovely spot by the river, inspired by Lord of The Rings apparently. Again the staff made sure we were well fed and served beyond expectation. The food had a bit more sugar in everything than I'd have liked but probably suitable for the American diet in general. A good selection and tasty. We were given our own stainless steel water bottles to use and as a keepsake. I'll be using it for a long time with such great memories attached. During the day the staff also shared on the local ecology. Their knowledge on the plants, trees and animals was informative. I actually learnt a few things Our time was finished off with the largest zip line with the best views. A great Experience and a day with delightful people who made extraordinary efforts to accommodate you in such a personal way. I wish all the staff the best in their futures. Don't think of this as just a zip line tour and compare against other zip line courses that you may have been on that were a couple of hours long. This is much more of a destination experience. Some of you will hesitate due to the price. So to answer your question, "yes", it really is well worth it: - It's a very unique experience, in a secluded area of the San Juan National Forest, with 27 zip lines, several of which span the Animas river. - The whole experience lasts the better part of a day (5.5 hours), counting the train ride in and out. - The staff is truly exceptional: Smart, funny, polite, gracious, informative, enthusiastic, and safe. - Lunch (included) is excellent, made from scratch by their on-site chefs and kitchen staff. I have never been so pleased to give 5 stars. This company is phenomenal. We were told that although the day trip is expensive, it would be worth it because it is such an experience. This could not be more true. The first contact I had with the staff was, "You must be Amanda, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" From then on it seemed every single staff member wished me a happy birthday, making my day seem so special. The train ride was beautiful. We were able to stand on the balcony, which other carts not with the Soaring company are unable to do. Ziplining was an unforgettable experience. I was T-E-R-R-I-F-I-E-D at the first line. But the staff made me feel safe. Also they ease you into each run, starting off with the short, slower ones first. There is an ecologist who accompanies you through the day, teaching about the wilderness and giving tons of interesting stories and facts. Lunch was amazing! A chef prepares a meal of your choosing, along with freshly made drinks and snacks. I was there with my family at the beginning of August. We were there celebrating my mother's 60th birthday. I had to write to say what an amazing experience we all had. From my 67 year old father to my 4 year old nephew - we all absolutely LOVED it! The atmosphere, the service, the food, the entire experience was just wonderful! Oh my God, the food....amazing! We are all vegetarian, and it was great to see they weren't just providing us with your typical box lunch of PB&J. I've even been to a place where they had a ham and cheese sandwich, and I was asked to just remove the ham! They actually had a selection for us to choose from! The hummus and the pineapple sandwiches were both delicious! As well as the chilled berry soup, and the homemade ice cream sandwiches. I personally broke my diet for that one, and it was well worth it! :) During one of our breaks we were given some delicious cranberry bars. Everything that could improve the adventure has been thought of and implemented (think: umbrellas stashed for a walk back to the train; strawberries in the ice cold water). My family and I view this place/experience as the "we need not go zip-lining anywhere else in the world as the value cannot top Soaring." Worth every dime. Best day ever!!!!!!!! I don't think I have enough amazing words to describe this day. Starting with the train trip to the tree top adventure which is so fun! Perfect for families. You can bring all your stuff you carry around lol, backpacks, snacks, etc..... they sell snacks on the train too but have no problem with you carrying your own. You ride 2 hours and then arrive at the zipline. The staff greets you, you fill out some paperwork, choose your lunch menu ( chef is amazing, and super personable and shares recipes) then get fitted for your harnass and it's fun time. For those of you (including myself) who are not a fan of heights but so love adventure have no fear!!! They say it takes about 4-5 zip lines until you feel comfortable and they are so right. I was hugging those trees then suddenly lost all fear of heights and just couldn't get enough. The staff is absolutely amazing. Safety first always combined with genuine , friendly, funny rangers. It's obvious the employees love their jobs and each other. The length of the zip lines changes and you get to cross the river 10 times! There is a switchback line and a line where you race someone. Wear a collar shirt so the harnass doesn't rub, wear sunscreen and bug spray. They supply bug spray at many of the platforms because unfortunately the mosquitoes this time of year are bad in the Forrest. You get a snack and water break. Don't want to spoil the surprise but even that was fantastic! You zipline some more, stop for a fantastic 4 course meal in the trees and back to the fun. The staff is the most efficient I've seen anywhere including how they handled lunch. They have a gift shop with great t shirts etc... the train picks you up at 3:34 and back to Durango you go. The train has open air and outdoor platforms if you want some amazing pics or a comfy first class car for a nap on the way back. Plan this into your trip. We will be back! We had the most amazing time! My family of four (7 and 9 year old) had such an incredible day and made memories of a lifetime. We were hesitant to spend the money on this trip but am so happy we did- it was worth every penny and then some. All of the staff were beyond exceptional but Britt made our two girls feel so comfortable- so much so that they ditched us at lunch to eat with her- they absolutely loved her and haven't stopped talking about her since the trip a few days ago! The food was also delicious- with many food restrictions of my own, they customized everything for me with zero hesitations. Came to Soaring as a surprise on the train trip from Durango. I was expecting a train ride and not really mentally prepared to come zip-lining. If you've never been zip-lining before, you'll be in good hands with the staff. They are professional and upbeat. Safety is a top priority. There is also a lot of ecology education that is discussed in between individual lines. Pretty much all of the staff remembers your name (which is impressive considering how many people are in the groups). The lunch is great and quite filling. Also, a lot to choose from. This was an absolute blast. My husband and I came to Durango just for this. The private car train ride up was a great prelude to the awesome day ahead of us. When we arrived, the entire staff greeted us with a warm welcome. It was just us. The feeling of seclusion and priority is really evident. My husband called it the "Jurassic Park of zip line tours". The lunch provided was 5 star dining quality and the area where you eat is so much fun. We both loved how the entire staff got to know your name and used it, making it a very personal experience. It was just an absolute blast. If I had one minor complaint, it would be that they were short one of the pre-lunch snacks so we had to split the last one. But, it was delicious and they more than made up for it with giving us the recipe! The train ride back was a nice change of pace and the way the 5+ staff operates between the trees with you, there is never much of a wait as your party advances through the course. We loved it. There are few things you can do that are as cool as this. The train ride in their super comfortable separate car was infinitely better than the school bus seats the regular D&SNGRR riders get. Overall the service and hospitality was first rate, the entire staff was well versed in their tasks, and everyone appears to love their job. They were also very adept at remembering everyone's name. I've had my share of adventures and I can say this is right up there with the best of them. If standing on a platform in a swaying tree 100 feet above the ground and flying through the forest and over the river 27 times, with the final 1400 foot ride lasting a minute at 30+ mph, is your thing then this is hard to beat. Most times you're 2-5 stories up, others you're just a few feet off the ground or water. Never boring. You can fly upside down or spin and bounce on most runs, whatever suits you. Lunch on the platform overlooking the river was as pleasing aesthetically as it was delicious. Simple but excellent meal, followed by the best soaring of the day. What a blast! Worth the price.
