We went to Soaring Eagle for our honeymoon this summer (2024). It was an amazing trip--both Courtney and Libby were great with communication and easy to work with. We stayed in the newest cabin, Cabin 12, which had lovely finishes and an oversized jack-and-jill bathroom and in-unit laundry. Kitchen came with more supplies than we even expected and was perfect for our cooking needs. Each cabin comes with an outdoor grill as well. Beds were comfortable and we loved the fireplace. This was an excellent home base for our Alaska adventure. The driving up there is beautiful, minimal traffic. There is not a whole lot in the immediate surrounding towns to Ninilchik but the views at Soaring Eagle are absolutely breathtaking. Waking up to mountains and ocean in one view just can't be beat. read more

Very difficult review. The person who I worked with to get information and make the reservation was fantastic. Completely knowledgeable and competent. I felt really good about my choice at first. The first hint that something might go wrong was when I was told to check in with one person before I left my home, but was told to check in with another person when I landed. Didn't think it was a big deal at first, maybe just a mistake. In any event, the check-in process went fine. The second hint that something was off was when I looked at our itinerary for the week. There was an awful lot of "TBD" items on the itinerary. Over half the trip had no information on the meeting places for the fishing trip each day. The accommodations are fine. Nothing fancy, just a decent fishing cabin with an amazing view. The town is great, nice and quiet and an easy drive to two big towns. No complaints at all with the accommodations. The main issue with the trip was the fishing trips themselves. Only one went off without a hitch, one with minor annoyances, and four were disasters. They mainly used one fishing charter company and they were terrible. They have this horrible scheduling and communication computer system that relies on cell phones to communicate the final details of your trip. You can imagine how well that works in Alaska. So why did I pick these guys? I liked the fly out fishing trip, the included fish processing, and the included rental car. The fly out trip was incredible. One of the best days of my life and I will never forget it. The rental car was great. Renting cars in Alaska is pricey and they make the process very smooth. There are plenty of fish processing places in the area and these guys were just not very good. You can hopefully find better. You can give these guys a try, but I'd advise that you ask them not to use Ninilchik Charters for your fishing trips. I probably won't use them again. read more

Five members of our family stayed at Soaring Eagle the last week of July and first few days of August 2023. Courtney is wonderful. She helped us find the best excursions and helped us navigate the entire trip. We were met by their representative when we checked in. We were given detailed agendas for the week. We have one bad weather day during our stay that was certainly not their fault. We had so much fun that we are booked for June and July 2024. My guys caught 175 pounds of fish and they processed that for us ready to fly back home. Our cabin was awesome. It had everything we needed. If you check cruises and other companies the price for everything you get is cost effective for Alaska. Oh and I might add, I had a thousand questions and she answered them all courteously and professionally. read more
