They let you taste (please do be considerate of people behind you so don't take very long). The staff is patient and nice. Little nook is to eat the ice cram available if you like, we often take it away because we didn't live far. I will come again and again if I could. 100/100 for this place. LOVE IT. It's one of those blink-and-you'll-miss-it jobbies. Let me tell you though, it's worth driving round the block for... What's cool about The Gelato Workshop is that they make all the ice cream on site - pretty impressive given the size of the shop - and although they've only been open a short time, they seem pretty keen to throw out some interesting flavours. Think along the lines of bubblegum or candy cane and gingerbread for the festive season. On my first visit, I found it near to impossible to choose, but after several tasters, just couldn't go past gingerbread. It tasted so authentic, as though they had just put a coupley wee gingerbread men in a blender? Maybe they did. Regardless, it was off the hook and v.generous for a single scoop. So much so that I had to lick and drive in order to make it to the park down the road without spilling. Looking forward to heading back and trying more flavours. Keep an eye out on their FB page for deets on new flavours!

They have always opened to the public 8.30-5pm Monday to Friday however they recently decided to open the cafe. The cafe will be open Monday to Saturday, and open late till 9pm Thursday-Saturday, so it will be a nice treat for those who live near the Beach Haven area. It was because of this that I noticed it and I am really glad I did, they have a whole assortment of chocolates, fudge and amazing chocolate gifts. They were very busy in there today getting chocolate ready for Easter, and if you want you can get a big chocolate with your name on it. As well as selling to the public they have a huge number of businesses that they supply to such as hotels, restaurants and shops. Today I had a coffee and biscuit combo that went down very well, and I tried the fudge - vanilla, chocolate and black sambuca - all of them were very good, but I especially enjoyed the black sambuca. I think I will come here often for my chocolate fix.

It's a super cute, quaint little shop in Beach Haven. When I wondered up to it this morning an EXTREMELY friendly lady welcomed me with the warmest of smiles and ushered me inside. She told me all about the store and the things they sold and offered and their hours. She was not pushy about sales or anything just genuinely filling me in on their business. I had a nosy around and loved everything I saw. I could find a gift for every single person I know, they were all wonderful and unique. I bought a three pack of truffles to share with my mom and sister. We nibbled and shared them between us and they were beautiful. It was only $5 for the pack, which I don't think is bad at all for quality chocolate. Extra bonus - they are open for deserts and hot drinks on some nights and there are ice cream scoops sold too. Everything you could want for a sweet tooth! I'll be popping in for desert very soon.

(So the sign mentioned) Perfect opportunity arose a few months back while still pregnant and the need to eat was enormous. Fellow mums can probably associate the love of either savory or sweet, and in my case it was oh so sweet! I must rave of their pancake size portions they are really something, and decorated with such personal touch. I decided that day that I would go for the Kids Pancake which was served with seasonal fruit and a nice surprise. I won't spoil the secret as it was cute and appropriate. Please do try this delight out there Original Dutch Poffertjes which is like a pancake puff, holy moly, really delicious, and can make one go back many times again. This feels like a family owned and happy cafe, with great service.

First of all let me talk about the place, Dutch Delight is a simple tiled floor with tables and the most interesting varied stuff on the wall, from maps, to postcards and figures promoting strange things. There is a children's room filled with toys for the kids too. But really, let's look and what drew you towards this review, yes I know your secret craving, Bacon .. No need to blush, it's my fetish too. This was crispy well cooked bacon, set onto Dutch pancake with icing sugar, special syrup and banana. When longingly asking for more bacon, this dish only gets better. In summary, if you like bacon on your pancakes .. Eat at Dutch Delight, if you don't like Bacon, then you and I have nothing to say to each other.

But I've heard good things about this night market and I'm so glad I decided to give it a go! This is the first night market that I've been to and I actually thought everything I ate was delicious and food was reasonably priced. My favourite was the Korean food stall by the big battery. They sold a large box filled with either rice or noodles (or fried rice for additional $1) and three different meat dishes of your choice for $13. This was such a great deal. I'm glad I had someone to share it with because the portion was huge! Tip: walk around the entire night market (it's not too big) before you buy anything. There are a couple stalls that sell the exact same thing but the portions/pricing are slightly different. I would definitely come back and would recommend it to anyone in Auckland on Sundays :)

Unlike restaurants at the markets you can nibble on this and that while you walk around and shop or you can sit down with your selection of goodies and enjoy the live music. Apart from the food, the night markets have stalls with clothing, phone accessories and bling bling. My favourite purchase to date is chunky beads that were hugely discounted. The night market is a must visit, for a bit of flavour and selection. Don't forget to try the pineapple with the ice-cream!

Being a newly converted Movenpick aficionado, I have tried nearly all the flavours, the mint chocolate and caramelita being my favourites by far, especially having the latter smothered in caramel sauce and nuts! There are hot desserts available too. I have tried many sticky date puddings in my time and I would have to say the one here is by far one of the best I have ever tried. What sets this store apart though is the service, the manager David is always on hand for a smile and a chat and really knows his stuff. When I was last in I saw a little girl drop her ice cream cone outside on the hot concrete, and David quickly scooped her up another one on the house. It is definately staff doing little things like that, that are truly impressive!

I do love Movenpick ice cream and the idea of being able to buy a single serving appeals, as if I bought a tub at the supermarket I would probably eat it all in one go. But I do think $6.50 for a single scoop is a little excessive, considering sauce, cream, nuts etc are all added extras. The little seating area overlooking the park is a nice added bonus though, as is the proximity to the beach.
