    Authentic hand-built historic log house.

We are here in May 2021. What pandemic? This is definitely a quiet retreat far from bustling civilization! We visited Nooksack Falls and drove as far as possible, and intend to come back in August to visit Artists Point. Apparently one needs snowshoes to visit at this time of year. Skiing is closed for the season, so not much traffic and we enjoyed the views along the way. This resort is independent -- not part of a chain. We booked through RCI. We enjoyed the (very clean) indoor pool and spa, but - four flights of stairs to descend two stories get there!!! Nice locker room with showers. The second pool was closed. Table pool and table tennis are available for teens or anyone else. Outdoor equipment is available for bocce, pickleball, etc. The 3 story authentic historical log house is open to guests with a key. It has its own wifi and opportunities for card games, etc. The unit is homey (not "up to date" but clean and well equipped). One-person kitchen with jennair stove. Love the fireplace that turns on if it gets too cold. It has a thermostat. The best part of the resort is the Nooksack River and the trail. Did not mind the cleaning fee. That seems to be standard these days. In each unit: Direct TV, free long distance phone calls (cell phones don't work), and weak WIFI. Four stars because this place is just short of perfect.

Lots of Stella Jays, right outside your window.

The timeshare/resort: It had a beautiful view of the river. My kids loved the hiking trail, the riverfront beaches/rocks, and the pools. One of the pools is very dated, and has no chairs to sit and supervise your kids if you don't want to swim. My kids didn't mind how dated it was, they just wanted to swim. So both polls worked out great for us. The downside, yes, the decor is dated, but I had a real problem with the cleanliness. The down blankets on the beds are not dry cleaned after each stay. Ours blankets had, what looked to be, drool marks on them and the lamps in the unit were caked in dust. There were pine needles and dirt in and around our beds. Overall, it just felt dirty. Luckily we brought extra sleeping bags and decided to sleep on top of the blankets/beds. If you can look past the decor and deal with the dirt and grime, it's well worth it. Mt. Baker Snoqualmie National Forest: We checked in with the local Ranger Station who gave us a list of easy, kid friendly hikes. In the 4 days we stayed we saw salmon spawning, hiked an old growth forest with trees over 1000 years old, went to Nooksack Falls, hiked Artist's Point, Bagley Lakes trails, took stellar pictures of Mt. Shucksan, caught a glimpse of Mt. Baker and created amazing memories for our kids.

    Beautiful!

Stay away from this host…read more I just had a terribly bad experience with them and I really cannot possibly recommend them to anyone. A month and a half ago a family member passed away, so I had to cancel the reservation I had with Luxury Getaways. Trying to get a full refund from them was quite the adventure. In fact I have not gotten a full refund yet but I want to use this review as an opportunity to describe the poor judgement and lack of compassion these people showed along the way. Due to Luxury Getaways' cancellation policy they were only forced to refund me 50% of the original amount. The host however committed to refunding the remaining 50% if the cabin was fully re-booked. As it turns out there are quite a few important factors that the host didn't mention: 1) There were some "Airbnb service fees" that she was not planning to refund at all. These are quite a bit of money, around $300. 2) In reality, for situations like mine there is a special cancellation policy from Airbnb that lets you get a full refund, but it only works within 14 days of the cancellation date. How convenient it was to leave this out, right? During my interactions with Luxury Getaways they were extremely unresponsive. Both I and my girlfriend texted them all the time but we would get silence from them, constantly. This was very frustrating because I was just acting in good faith but I'd just get silence as a response. I can't find words to describe how frustrating this was, specially in a situation like mine. Just come clean to me: if you want to not refund me the remaining 50%, just tell me and I'll leave you alone, but don't play this game in a situation like mine. Finally after a few weeks the host confirmed that they'd be doing the refund, but then a week passed and the refund was nowhere to be seen! I ended up filing a refund claim on the Airbnb website and they didn't even reply within the time they are supposed to. I could finally contact their office and only then they responded to the refund claim. Funnily enough only then the host brought up the fact that there were these "Airbnb fees" that they would not be able to refund. Note that originally the host hadn't mentioned that. Only now I was learning about those fees. After this I opened another claim to get direct help from the Airbnb team. I have to say that The Airbnb team has been super helpful but even here Luxury Getaways had to show their true colors. As it turns out Airbnb support told me that they'd have to get an approval from Luxury Getaways to do a full refund, but of course Luxury Getaways rejected the request. Even after not mentioning the services fees at all, and even after not mentioning the fact that there was an Airbnb policy exception I could've used to get a full refund. Really, Luxury Getaways? I am extremely disappointed in this host and I cannot possibly recommend them to anyone.

We stayed for almost 3 weeks in 2 of their properties and spent around $10,000 with them. A few examples: One house had pet hair/smell everywhere, broken furniture, a previous guest's hair all over the shower (gross) and just general lack of upkeep. The second property had some sort of gas leak coming from the oven, which made it unusable. They touted it as a gourmet kitchen, but it wasn't useable and they never came to fix it once we asked. Disappointed.

I've been trying to come up with one word to describe the area and I can't! It's peaceful, relaxing, beautiful, amazing, lovely, just everything you would want to experience on a week-end get-a-way. I would suggest staying a week! We went exploring on Saturday, our first stop was the small town of Glacier just 4 miles up the road. We stopped at the little Grocery store, to pick up a few supplies. They have espresso!! If you order it before you shop they bring it to you while you shop. Also, ice cream on the cone. There's an adorable 2nd hand store, they sell homemade soaps and candles as well. I Love this town! Leaving Glacier we headed toward Nooksack falls just 7 miles further up the road. Breathe taking view. I watched the Deer Hunters movie a few weeks ago, and I knew that the Nooksack falls were featured in the hunting scene of the movie. Did Meryl Streep and Robert DeNiro walk the same path as we did??? Probably not, but it's still absolutely worth the stop, it's beautifully dangerous. Back on the one way road to Mt, Baker Highway, then 14 miles to Artist Point, located at the very end of Mount Baker Highway. I felt a little intimidated on the road to artist Point, it's only about 3 miles long and with the switchbacks it's crazy exciting and lovely winding up more than 5000 feet above sea level as you arrive at the top. Yes, it boasts 360-degree views of Mount Shuksan and Mount Baker. All of this, just 22 miles from the Sasquatch Mountain Hideaway cabin. We climbed a short distance to an open area, and had lunch in the snow, on a beautiful August afternoon. What do you do when you didn't bring a sled? Well you use your coat and you go Coatesbogganing! We returned to the cabin, and started the grill. We had Grilled salmon, salad, baked potato and white wine, all out on the balcony. A very pleasant non-exhausting day. This mountain hideaway features a gourmet kitchen, private bedrooms; lovely bathrooms, leather sofas big screen TV's and choice of movies, or bring your own. If you wish they have big foot slippers to wear around the cabin, and much more. This cabin is perfectly located for enjoying every season for any reason, I love our beautiful Great Northwest. The Sasquatch Mountain Hideaway makes it easy.

Most tenants stay in their campers and never come out. If they do, they're friendly enough, just realize that this friendliness isn't genuine. We were friendly to everyone there. Planned on growing food for the community and guests and having cookouts together. We started hundreds of plants to get it going, then the resident drunk decided to abuse us and take apart our garden as he pleased, so we decided to move on, as his violent outbursts made us feel unsafe. Such a beautiful place to live and stay, cloaked in sadness and darkness, as the old men who live there, are bitter and unhappy with their lives. It feels heavy and tragic seeing the elderly men, stuck in small campers, as they have limited options. It clearly states in the rules for the park, belligerent drunks will be evicted, that is false. They will be allowed to stay, until they drive out all the good people. My advice, keep to yourself, don't allow yourself to be sucked in and it will be a pleasant place to stay, short term. We were there a year and a half. Just enough time for the true colors to be shown. We would never even visit Glacier again, after our experience.
