I turned in a stray dog that I was going to adopt if her previous owner didn't come forward. Based on her teeth, face, and personality, she appeared to be less than a year old. Unfortunately, I later discovered that she was pregnant, and after having a stillborn puppy in there care , she became understandably depressed and stopped eating. It's well documented that such traumatic experiences can lead to reactivity in dogs THAT YOU CAN WORK PAST . it was clear upon finding her that she had been abused skinny and scard of dogs and people , a concern I explicitly expressed to the Humane Society staff. What infuriated me the most was their decision to euthanize her as she was there for less then 4 weeks without informing us, stating reactivity and aggression not exploring any of the other rehabilitating options THEY HAVE to keep this yung dog alive . This felt not only unprofessional but also unethical, especially given the provisions of the Colorado Animal Rights Act, which emphasizes the humane treatment of animals. This decision is particularly egregious considering that, in the week I cared for her before turning her in, her reactivity stemmed purely from fear, a natural response to her past trauma and current situation and through out all that she loved kids . She was a scared, young animal in need of care, not a death sentence. I am beyond disappointed with the lack of communication and compassion shown in this situation. To add insult to injury, they have been ignoring my phone calls. When I did manage to speak with someone, the woman on the phone was incredibly rude, speaking to me as if I were a child and twisting my words to justify their decision to euthanize a dog whose life could have been saved. They took a life that deserved to live. Animals deserve better, she deserved better. I hope that by sharing this experience, the Humane Society will reflect on their practices and improve upper management because clearly this decision was made out of pure laziness The avoidable loss of this dog's life is a profound failure on their part. I am the way they are in the way. They handled this whole thing. I'm very hatred for the staff that decided to go through with this and not speak up.

Several of the animals have come from homes where they've had unfortunate encounters with other pets or that didn't realize mini pigs can reach 100+ pounds. The facility holds events like trick or treating, open house and story time for kids. They also are active in events in the surrounding communities, such as town festivals and parades. If you get a chance to visit, go! The people that run the rehab are friendly and it is a unique, fun, experience! Chris P's does a lot of great work for this less common four-legged friend.

For a few years, everything was fine (but my mom also checked in regularly on the cats). My only "requirements" were to feed them wet food daily (and dispose of any uneaten wet food before adding new wet food) and make sure they had plenty of clean water, and refill dry food and water as needed. Everything would be set out - food, trash can (to dispose of the empty cans from wet food and any uneaten wet food) paper towels & carpet cleaner (for any messes), etc. My mom generally scooped litter boxes since they were in various places in the house. As I said, prior to our last vacation, all was OK for a service that I knew was more oriented to dogs. This last trip however I was very disappointed. Upon coming home, we discovered that wet food was not disposed of timely and had actually become moldy. This single occurrence has caused this review and as such, I will be finding a new service or person that is oriented to only caring for cats and their needs while we are away.

The company is insured and bonded. I would not be comfortable with some random person who put a couple of flyers up in coffee shops as a way to make extra money. Heather came by to meet the dogs, meet us, and get a key during the initial appointment. Thereafter, she just lets herself in and takes the dogs for a jaunt. My dogs have had - issues - of the intestinal variety and not even that scared her off! Heather administers midday medications as needed and I love getting the reports about how the dogs had a good time during the day. I mean, if I'm at work at least someone's having fun! The dogs are so much calmer when she has come by. This is a really fantastic service.

The animals are all well treated, the staff is friendly and personable. They really care for and take care of their rescues. They take the time to attend to the particular needs of each and help to carefully match the animal with the right home. When you consider the trauma so many have experience in their prior life, this attention to detail and affection goes a long way to helping the rescues adjust to a new home. They also go over questions, answers and needs of the new pet with the adopting families and offer resources to help with training and veterinary care. My standard poodle, Scout, needs a daycare facility so that he can run and socialize with other dogs. Much to my pleasure, I found The Dog Barn not far from Eaton, Colorado, and took Scout there. Scout was very happy to enroll there. The staff is quite welcoming, and the facility is exceptionally clean. I recommend The Dog Barn highly not only for daycare but also for boarding.
