THIS BUSINESS IS MONEY HUNGRY AND HAS NO REGARDS TO THE ACTUAL WELL BEING OF ANIMALS. DO NOT TAKE YOUR AGGRESSIVE DOG TO THIS PROGRAM, THIS BUSINES IS NOT EQUIPPED TO WORK WITH WORKING BREED DOGS OR AGGRESSIVE DOGS. I truly feel I need to warn any potential consumer with an aggressive or working breed, that Sit Means Sit should never train their dog. I took my aggressive dog to this training program for a board and train and I explained that my dog has reactivity issues and had recently bit someone. Sarah ensured me that they had work with these types of dogs before and that this program would help us to walk him on a leash. The program mentality is that the e-collar was a tap on the shoulder and that the dog had to make the decision to do the command. After talking with several dog behavioral experts, with a working dog with aggressive tendencies, they need to be trained with the mentality that the owner is in charge and making the decisions, for the dog to follow lead. Additionally, when I started taking him to group classes, Canyon would lunge at all the participants. I asked Sarah multiple times to have 1:1 sessions and she continued to make me go to highly stressful group sessions. For the amount of money I paid, that shouldn't have been the response. I have since realized that they no longer do group trainings as they found them ineffective. As such the training program did not work for Canyon, and I am extremely disappointed because I invested a lot of money. I am going to have to pay for new training, and have asked for a refund to help pay for the training to get my dog the help he deserves, otherwise he would need to be put down. The owner refused my request, even though the program didn't work. Which goes to show you that they are driven by money and not the well being of the dog.

I should have asked for my money back. She often rushed through things. She didn't have an awareness of how to teach human adults, by saying something , show something, say it again in a different way, show it again slowly. She said it once, showed it quickly then expected us to do it. She would show something, then have us go do it while she talked with her friends she brought in. She didn't pay attention to her students. She only offered help when I was struggling if I asked for her help, she didn't notice when people were struggling. She was stern and not approachable. She said she had lots of experience training. Perhaps that was true but she needs to work on people skills to be a group dog trainer. This intro class was designed to rush us through a program of a bunch of different things every time so that maybe we felt we learned a lot and got our moneys worth, rather than make sure we had important things down really well. The instructor said that after we finished the class we could come in for open play. I called and left a message about this twice but no one called me back. The place was freezing cold in the winter and smelly. I've heard other people like this place, but I won't go back. I also read the review about a woman abusing a dog here and people being rude. Big fat NO.

I am looking forward to coming back there for more classes.

They are available by text and phone in between the Friday training sessions with the dog owners & their dogs. They truly care about you understanding the training and although you work in small groups they work with each dog / & their owner separately as necessary. We are only 2 weeks into the training which last for 15 sessions but are excited to register our 2nd dog as soon as our Jaxon wraps up his training. Their fees are more expensive than other dog training classes but it's 100% worth it as it's training that will serve our dog and our family for a lifetime! Bella is a very sweet and loving dog but she barked aggressively when anyone came near our door, let alone knock/ring bell. Any change made her nervous and jumpy. A visit to the vet would cause anxious behavior for a week after each appointment. Other dogs made her nervous even though we had socialized her from a very young age. When walking she would stiffen whenever another dog or children were near by us. We have always exercised Bella a lot and that helped but never eliminated these issues. Then I read about the Fort Collins Dog Wizard online. I was just hoping to improve her quality of life a little... I never imagine or dreamed of the results we would get. Cullen did a house visit to assess Bella. He sat at our house talking calmly to me about Bella and her personality the entire time he ignored Bella. After the first ten minutes, she was begging for his attention but he still let her have her space. I couldn't believe the calming presence he brought and he hit all her scary buttons (a man with a hat). After talking to me, he said he thought they could absolutely help her. We sent her to them for three weeks and she worked primarily with Maddy. We visited Bella a week into the training, we got our first training session, and we were already amazed. When we picked her up at the end of the three weeks, we received more training and very clear and strict instructions on how to continue the work. Maddy visited us at our home in the coming weeks to assess Bella and help answer any questions we had on techniques or progress. Once you've been through the program there are graduate classes that you and your dog can attend for free every Saturday as well as a Facebook group for graduates to share/ask questions and you can always contact Cullen, Jess, or Maddy. Six months ago we had a dog that freaked out if a car door closed outside our house, UPS truck drove by, or anyone came to our house. Last week on Halloween our doorbell rang and door was knocked on all night and not one peep from Bella. She sat quietly on her place and enjoyed her evening. We have dinner parties with lots of loud laughing and moving about and she calmly lays on her bed until we let her come off and then she enjoys the attention from our friends. Her quality of life is so much better and now everyone can see her sweet and loving personality instead of a barking, scared dog. My only regret was not finding the Dog Wizard sooner. When we adopt our next dog, they will be the first phone call I make after adoption.

I cannot recommend Beth, Wayne, and Canine Companion Consulting enough…read more We rescued two dogs at once (not something I'd recommend): Shifty, a stray who was adopted and then returned to the shelter for his so-called "high prey drive" (he turned out to be under two years old, not four), and Cera, a four-month-old preventably deaf and blind double merle. At the time, we already had a calm pack of three older dogs, so we thought we were ready. We weren't. Shifty was a whirlwind of anxiety, trauma, and FOMO despite our best efforts with food, routine, and enrichment -- and we had no idea how to communicate with a deaf and blind puppy. Let alone two puppies. We interviewed many trainers -- and I've worked with others in different states -- but Beth and Wayne are better than all of them combined. Truly. They are not only phenomenal trainers but also compassionate, brilliant, and kind humans. From the very first tearful phone call, they met us exactly where we were and gave us hope when surrendering felt like our only option (even though we were against it). They trained us as much as they trained Shifty, and the difference was immediate. Their one-on-one sessions gave us tools to navigate Shifty's trauma, and their puppy school helped us properly socialize him. They even taught us how to communicate with Cera and build commands for her despite her being both deaf and blind. Their facility is gorgeous and expansive -- the first time we visited, Shifty tore around the entire perimeter of the yard in pure joy. We realized then he needed a bigger yard, and their support even helped us navigate moving to Hawaii with five dogs on a plane. They even checked in afterward to make sure it went smoothly, long after our training sessions were finished. Who does that? Only trainers who genuinely care. They also have a huge room when the weather stinks and a cute little store with helpful products. We love using our flirt pole from them! Beth and Wayne go above and beyond. They're honest, compassionate, and endlessly patient. If we still lived in Colorado, we'd invite them over for dinner or board games -- that's how much we adore them. And if we ever need a trainer again, we'd happily work with them virtually over trying to find someone local. They're just that good. Today, as I write this, Shifty is calmly stretched out behind me, paws crossed, at peace -- something that felt impossible a year ago. Our whole family is thriving because of Beth and Wayne. No words will ever fully do them justice, but here's my best attempt: THANK YOU, BETH AND WAYNE. You changed our lives.

I wish I could go back and choose differently…read more We enrolled our rescue dog in the board and train program in 2024. He came from the shelter with clear signs of separation anxiety, hypervigilance, and what looked like the emotional scars of past abuse. We truly wanted to help him adjust and feel safe, so we trusted this program to set him on the right path. But looking back, I regret it. My first red flag came during a visit when I noticed a bite wound on his foreleg. I was told he'd been placed in a pen with one of the trainer's personal dogs--who attacked him. My dog had always been social and dog-friendly, so this felt like an avoidable situation. She was treating the wound, but I left feeling uneasy. Then came the Fourth of July. I got a message saying we could pick him up early--a full week early--because she was heading out of town. She said someone would be there to feed him, but he wouldn't be training anymore. That alone was disappointing, but we figured if he was "ready," we'd make the most of it. When we picked him up, he was only responding to commands about 75% of the time. I assumed he was just overstimulated from seeing us again. But over the next few days, things got worse. Despite carefully following the training notes we were given, our dog regressed significantly. He became more anxious, more reactive, and less responsive than before the program. Now, over a year later, he still reliably responds only to "sit"--which I taught him. "Lay down" works about half the time. Every other command? Gone. Later, when I shared my experience with others in the community, I learned I wasn't alone. Two separate people knew exactly which dog had bitten mine before I even said the name. One had a similar experience with that same dog; the other knew someone who had. That told me everything I needed to know. We paid $2,500, and in the end, my dog came home more anxious and less trusting of other dogs. I wish I could say otherwise, but I wouldn't recommend this program. On paper, it looks great. In practice, the local community seems to know better. I only wish I'd asked around before enrolling. Please do your research, and trust your gut.
