Took my 2.5 year old daughter in for her first haircut. She was calm and comfortable in the salon. Nemo was playing on multiple tv's and she was busy with a lollipop. Rosa cut her hair and did a great job. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of cut at a kids salon. My daughter has pretty long and curly hair and even after wash it looks great. Love this place I live far from them but I rather make the drive all the way from Logan square to Lombard, cause the 2 snippet close to me that's on Clybourn and southport aren't as flexible with their time as this place. The times I've gone to clybourn they always give buts and excuses. One time at the one in Clybourn i had gotten there a couple to just about an hour to closing time, and was told that they were only gonna be able to take 2 outta my 3 boys because it was almost gonna be closing time, although at the end they ended up taking them all 3, and finish way before closing time. Not with this location at Yorktown mall, I always get a yes for an answer, great service in the front desk, and I like how Ana cut my kids hair, 5 stars to this location! read more

I took my son to Snippet's for his very first haircut and had a wonderful experience. Kyria cut his hair and did a fantastic job! I have no idea how she could give such a good haircut on a moving target! She was very patient with him, but also with 2 parents who had different opinions on how his hair should be cut! Horrible place to take your child. I took my son because I wanted to try out a new place, BIG mistake. The stylist had a very shaky hand and left my son with patches in his hair.I'd also like to add that after this visit I have had to use product in my 3 year old son's hair ( something I've never felt the need to do) in order to cover up the patchiness from the butchered haircut. I don't recommend this place to anyone! If you want to take your child to a good place, I'd take them to kidsnips at the oakbrook mall. It might be 2 dollars more, but the staff and the work they do is much better!!! read more

My wife and I had a great experience taking our 14 month old to get his first haircut. We did it on a Saturday so the place was busy, but the stylist and the receptionist were speedy and professional. I saw them deal with a difficult child, a cooperative child, and one who was right in the middle (my kid). They did it all with a smile. They had a lot to distract the little ones like video games, toys, movies, a pretty impressive coral reef design, and barber chairs made to look like cabs and trains. I was super impressed. We would certainly take our child here again. read more

Took my two year old daughter here for a haicut today. We called ahead and found that there wasn't a wait and were told to head right over. When we got there the wait was only one or two minutes at the most, not bad at all. My daughter is generally a very nervous toddler, but when we arrived she was very excited about all the toys and the colorful environment. The stylist (Theresa) was super friendly and seemed to genuinely like kids. Theresa let my daughter pick which chair to sit in (car, train, or on my lap). She ended up on my lap with a lollipop in each hand and happily watched Elmo on TV while Theresa cut her hair. The cut only took a few minutes and turned out very cute. Afterwards my daughter's hands were sticky from lollipops and Theresa found us some baby wipes to wipe her hands. She also had a lint roller nearby for me to get the hair off my pants. Theresa was extremely friendly and helpful and went out of her way to be super nice to my daughter. I hope to request her again next time. read more

Don't waste your money. I spent $50 on two haircuts for my boys (who are both under the age of 10) and was out in less than 15 minutes for both. They both have longer hair that requires scissor cutting, so it usually takes 20-30 minutes each. The cost was supposed to include a cut, shampoo and style. Our girl only seemed to care about getting them out the door and didn't do the shampoo or style. That's expensive for 15 minutes of service. Such a waste! read more

I took my son here for his first hair cut. I was originally planning on taking him to Kid Snips in Naperville because that's where his sister had her first cut. But I was in the area I thought we would try this place out. I was a walk in appointment. The salon was not busy at all and there was only one stylist and one receptionist with no other kids or parents in sight. Our stylist wasn't super friendly. We didn't even know her name until the receptionist handed us the locks of my sons hair at the end of the session. Unfortunately the stylist made no effort to talk to me or ask anything about my son. Not even to make conversation. Here are the positives though! It's a convenient location. It seems pretty clean. I was able to walk right in and my son was seated within a few seconds. Our stylist got right to work. She was efficient (big plus when working with kids) and she was very quick. His haircut did look great. She did everything I asked her to. If this review was based on hair cut alone I would give it a much higher rating. Sometimes it's not just about the hair cut. Here are the cons: Even though her hair cut was great, I had no connection with her. She didn't ask for his name the entire time. I felt like the lack of compassion made it feel like my son was just another way to put money in her account. Essentially he is. But what this stylist didn't realize is that because she didn't even introduce herself, I had no way of knowing who she was and therefore would not be able to book a follow up appointment. I would have because I appreciate a great stylist and a little boy needs constant hair cuts. I much preferred the experience I had at kids snips in Naperville. The hair cuts are pretty similarly priced and the first hair cut kids get a balloon, a certificate that has a clear pouch so you can see their hair and their picture is taken and attached to the certificate. The wait is longer but the stylists are sweeter. This place just gives a little card with an envelope to hold his locks. With all that being said, this is an okay salon but it didn't work out for me. Maybe other people will appreciate this sort of place. read more

Rashelle is great for little boys' haircuts, but their receptionist is horrible. She's either always stoned or the laziest person in the metro region. I've called several times & had her basically refuse to take an appointment, and twice when she's actually taken an appointment, i've showed up at the correct time, only to discover they've just started with another walk-in client, so i've had to wait 40 minutes anyways. but not to worry, she did give me a $2 discount for my troubles each time...great, glad to know you think my time is worth so little! we now go to the super cuts down the street, not for the better haircut, but for the reduction in my own blood pressure. read more

My 3 yo loved her haircut. She went from long, golden locks to a graduated bob...and had a fab time. Graduated could have been more angled, but the bob looks amazing on her....really happy with the service and cut. read more

Took my 2.5yo daughter's in for a haircut, twice. The first time I told the stylist to not take off too much (my bad), she listened and my little one came out looking ok. Took her back a few days later to get a bit more of the damaged ends trimmed... That was a problem visit, 2 INCHES OF HAIR ON THE FLOOR LATER, she looks like a boy with crooked feathers cut in her hair. I had to tell the stylist to stop cutting because so much hair was on the floor. BE CAREFUL careful before you just take the next available stylist. This is going to take months to grow out. read more

My 18 month old son has gotten 3 haircuts here with 3 different stylists. Each time, they have done an excellent job. They are kind, patient, and listen to what I want. The price point is slightly high, but my son is always distracted by the cool car he sits in and has never fussed while getting his haircut. Worth it! read more

My son has been coming to this Yorktown Snippets since he was 1 he is now 10 years old. The staff is always wonderful. When you call to make an appointment they are always very polite on the phone and I always get a reminder call the day before the appointment. All the ladies that work at Snippets always greet me and my son with a smile. Kyria has been cutting his hair forever and does a wonderful job. I always walk away satisfied. The manager Julie greets you with a smile and if there is a wait she will take your cell # and call you when its your time. This saves me time , I really appreciate this extra incentive. My daughter is now ten, and thinks Snippets is for babies, but too bad - we will continue to go there until my darling daughter can no longer fit in the chair. She was so wonderful and was really disappointed to hear about our recent experience. It is clear that she really cares about her buisness and customers. We took my 3 year old in for her first haircut last night. Ana was AWESOME!!!! She was excellent with our daughter and so incredibly sweet. Since Frozen was playing, my daughter basically sat there in a little girl zombie trance staring at Elsa. I actually had a nice time talking with Ana while she cut my daughters hair....which, by the way, looks GREAT! She listened to my panicked "dont cut too much!!!" request and gave my daughter a great experience. She even put a little braid in her hair and did a blow dry flip on the ends, adorable! We tried to go for my daughters first haircut... W were told it would be an hour wait, maybe sooner. Come back an hour later and wait around for 10 minutes to finally ask how much longer. Only to find out it's going to be another 20 minutes. Not having any faith that the time would be accurate we had to leave to find somewhere else! read more

We've been to Snippets five times. Their prices are expensive but not out of line compared to other children's hair salons. I'm giving it one star because of their customer service. We were 10 minutes late to our appointment and upon arrival told that they had taken walk-ins because they didn't know if we were coming, and "next time give us a courtesy call". After waiting an additional 20 minutes without being seen we left, only to be told to re-schedule. Why make an appointment if it will be given away after 10 minutes? Horrible treatment for customers, particularly a business where children are customers. I've never felt so offended. read more

I'm willing to ignore how overpriced their haircuts are. And I'm willing to ignore the cramped space and lack of chairs for waiting customers. I give this business a 1 star because of its horrendous customer service. We were told we would have to wait 30 minutes for my son to get his haircut and they would give us a call which was fine. However after wandering around the mall for over an hour we decided to check in to see our place on this list. We were told we were next. After waiting another 10 minutes, we see a chair open up believing my son would finally get his haircut. Nope. A girl, from out of nowhere, takes his seat. So we waited another 15 minutes. The chair opens up again. Once again the barber/stylist takes a set of twins that were up her space and takes them instead. Who knows? Were they relatives or did she allow them to cut in line? I'll never know as we were never acknowledged after we checked in. The business seriously needs to be more up front about their wait times and at least acknowledge their waiting customers. And they should know they need more than 2 stylists during back to school week. Ridiculous!! You'll have better luck at great clips or floyd's read more

We recently took our children to Snippet's based on a friend's recommendation. We've been to other children's salons in the area but this is closer to our new home so we wanted to check it out. Our son's haircut looks fine but people keep asking us if our daughter cut her own hair. She was crying when we left the salon because she thinks she looks like a boy and she's right. The stylist knew we were upset so she tried to explain herself. Basically she chose to disregard my instructions and cut my daughter's hair in a way that she felt would be helpful to her. The nerve of her! I feel that should have been our decision as parents but I kept my cool and left without another word. Obviously we will never return to Snippet's. I gave them one star because my son's hair looked ok. read more

I don't remember the ladies name (she has long dark hair), my son is usually crying and I'm preoccupied with him, but she is so fast and does an awesome job. I will never go back here. I called ahead (last night) to ask if anyone knows how to cut african american hair. I have a four year old son. They told me yes, if I could get in immediately before the stylist left. We rushed to get there. I said I like the length of my son's hair, I just want it cleaned up on the sides and back, but to keep the length on top, just give it a trim. I said I like the afro look (but the sides and back were growing faster than the top). We've been growing his hair out. She butchered him. Curls gone. I said to myself, oh well, we will just do some lines up front and make it a nice, cool short haircut. So as she is finishing I say, ok, could you just do some nice lines around the hairline? She said, oh, we don't do that, I don't have the razors for that. ? ? Why did you tell me you cut african american hair? I could have done what she did at home and saved $20. I'm so sad; it'll take 8 months to grow back what she cut. read more

Beware of disrespectful customer service and hours that do not match the mall's. We walked in just a little after 7 PM to get my 2-yr-old's haircut. He has been there before and we had minimal complaints. To my disappointment, the lady behind the counter ignored us the whole time we were there! My husband had to say something to make her look up from her tablet. Then, before he could get two words in, the woman excitedly greeted another customer who walked in at that very moment. Before I knew it, they were having a conversation as if we were not even in the room. There's simple logic here: first come, first serve. She could have at least told us the place was closed (despite the completely open door, lights turned on, and no obvious sign at the entrance saying so) before going on into some long drawn-out discussion with another rude person. It was not until that customer was finally leaving that she even made eye contact with us. She failed to offer us an appointment for another day. I feel as though my time was wasted and that I was disrespected. I was so irritated with her that I signed up for a Yelp account just to write this. I am strongly considering taking my business elsewhere. read more

I walked in to Snippets today for a complimetary bang trim for my daughter. I was told 15 minutes, which was more than reasonable since I did walk in on a busy Saturday morning... But after returning in 15 minutes only to pace around the entrance of the store for AN HOUR, I asked the receptionist/manager to remove my name from the list and I would never be returning. I watched as 10 other clients were taken before me. Really?? Couldn't squeeze in a two-minute bang trim?? And the manager's response was, "Well, did you come back?" Not only had I been back the entire time, but they told me they would call my cell when a stylist was available. Clearly they did not properly handle the situation, and there was not even an "I'm sorry" offered to me. So I walked around the corner to a department store salon, walked right in, got a free bang trim in less than 5 minutes from a very friendly and gentle stylist, and finally a very cranky toddler got the hair out of her eyes and was headed home for a nap. It is too bad, because I think the sylists there are pretty good, but I refuse to deal with a person so poorly trained in customer service. read more

Wow..I am very disappointed that the manager at this Snippets location got such a bad review recently. I have been a loyal customer of this location for over five years and not once have I felt that the manager was rude, lazy nor unprofessional! If you want fast service...make an appointment. If you are new to the salon..a word of advise...call ahead. Do not expect any location to be at your disposal just because. This is a very popular place and you should plan ahead.. In the event that you need to be a walk in..you need to wait. You are given an approximate waiting time. It is not the managers fault or the stylist's fault if it takes a longer time to cut a child's hair (maybe the child was not having a good day - if you know what I mean). All in all, the ladies at this location are wonderful from the Manager to the stylist. My kids look forward to their hair appointment every time. read more
