First off Snider Veterinary is very expensive. I don't mind paying and I've been taking my dogs here for at least 15 yrs. I called there because my dog sprained her leg and they could not manage to get her in for a look. They are charging tons of money, and when you actually need them for something other than a scheduled heart worm check up, they won't see you. I was told to take my dog to an emergency clinic. I will be finding myself another Vet, obviously they have too many customers. This is not the first bad experwince I've had, since Dr Snider Sr has retired and the children took over, service has gone way down. I would mortgage my house for my dogs if I had to, but not for crappy service. read more

Our dog has been a patient here for over a year now. She's been in for routine check ups, senior bloodwork, a mass removal, and more. We've seen a couple different vets, but usually it is Dr. Emma who takes care of her. Everyone that works here is professional and kind. I feel that they truly care and give me the best advice. Then he refused to approve a prescription for my cat until I deleted the bad review. So, I did. My kitty died last year, so I am finally able to post Dr. Snider's much deserved bad review without fear of reprisal. Dr. Snider is a condescending jerk with a superiority complex. He made thoughtless mistakes that cost me money & led to a lack of medical care for my cat. I felt so intimidated & frustrated that I didn't know what to do & ended up not doing enough, unfortunately. If there are more good reviews than bad here it's partly because Dr. Snider bullies people to change or delete their reviews just like he did with me. Last time bringing my dog in I was yelled at for how she was behaving and me personally working with animals for years I would never speak to a client in such a way. Fast forward I'm checking my dogs vaccine records and they wrote the wrong dates down so my dog has now been unvaccinated for lepto for almost a year without me knowing. Dr Snider and Dr Hamilton have treated my dog for 10 years. Both Vets and their entire staff treat my girl as if she was their own. When she needed surgery that could not be performed at their office I was referred to OVC, and all her records were immediately sent to that office. When I call for a medication refills it is usually ready that day (unless I call late). The few times she needed emergency care, they saw her immediately, even during covid. This is just a wonderful practice and should be a model for others to follow. read more

Oh gosh, I just cannot say enough about this absolutely wonderful veterinary office. I have several dogs, all of which mean the world to me. Through a friend of mine, I received a referral to Snider Veterinary services several years ago. I am continually amazed at the compassion, the knowledge of the wonderful doctors. I honestly can't think of anything negative to say at all. All of these veterinarians have taken such wonderful care of my dogs. They've done all that they could possibly do even though at times, I have had to say goodbye to one of my babies.. I have also had a wonderful experience with members of the office staff. One of which, Jackie, always takes the time to listen to me and tries to allay my fears even when I'm in a panic! Joe, the office manager will do his absolute best to get my dog in when I feel it's an emergency. The other office staff members are wonderful as well! The vet techs are wonderful! At first I would of given Snider Vet a very high score but now I wouldn't give it a one.They had taken care of our babies (Pom Pom since they were born.Then after going to a grooming place called BARK ABOUT my 3 girls got sick with what Dr Snider called Kennel for Cough.Two of my babies got better but my momma got worse so Dr sent us to a hospital in Oakland (which ended up being a mistake) On February 12021 Dr sent us a letter of dismissal .We had no idea why. We brought our baby home and had to send her to God because she was suffering so much, maybe if Dr had paid more attention to her,treated her with kindness maybe we wouldn't have had to put her down in our our home. We were looking for a new vet for our 7 year old dog. We made an appointment, obtained all of our dogs medical records and arrived for the appointment, only to then be informed that they were not allowing owners to accompany their dogs into the appointment. We explained again that this was our very first visit and because we had zero history with this vet we asked to be able to enter with our dog. We were told that they were not open to any owners in the office. They may have great doctors, but there was no chance we were letting our dog be examined, by people we have never met, had no idea to their procedures, or even how they handled animals. We started coming here because of a sick rabbit (after all, how many vets are there that service rabbits?) and have continued to go here with our cats (from kittens to old age, as a matter of fact.) The office is a no-frills one: you won't find a deluxe doggie spa or massage services, but you will find knowledgeable vets, confident assistants, and affordable prices. They don't try to push any unneeded procedures or medications-- just a simple, straight "here are your options" conversation. Updated: 1/19/2017 I stand by my 5-star review of what I consider to be the best vet in the metro area. Dr. Snider (the OG) is still the man, but my review needs to give some props to the amazing Office Staff (and Joe), Dr. Hamilton and Dr. Drew. In October, my sweet Chihuahua became sick. Between emergency vet visits and drop ins - I probably racked up $2K in vet bills. There were days when I was leaving messages on the answering service of the office at 5am, telling them I'd be waiting in the parking lot when they opened. Each time I walked in, every member of the staff I engaged with was warm, compassionate and welcoming. These women CARE. Diablo was in and out of the vet a bit. His last week sadly, he had to spend overnight at the office. My sincere thanks and gratitude to Joe, a vet tech who clearly went above and beyond to make sure my best friend had his favorite blanket and gremlin toy. Dr. Drew is Dr. Snider's son - and man, can you tell! Dr. Drew, much like his Dad, is easy to talk to, straight forward and fun. I mean that in the sense you can tell he loves his job and making animals feel better. During what was arguable the most difficult 3 weeks of my life, Dr. Drew took all of the time to answer my questions, and reassure me that we would do everything we could to make my sweet Diablo better. Dr. Hamilton is the most compassionate vet I have ever met. The week I had to say good bye to my dog was the most difficult of this single girl/no kids life. After a month of exhaustive treatments, it was time for a 'decision'. Dr. Hamilton did not offer empty platitudes or hollow apologies; she stood by our sides and gave us all the time we needed as we agonized over our decision. In the end, I asked her, "If it was your dog, what would you do?" She confirmed it was time. This simple, direct reply gave me the confidence I needed as a doggy mom to do what was right and best for my fur child. For that I am eternally grateful. You could see in her eyes, the pain she felt as an animal lover that day. She had to put down 3 other dogs that same morning. I couldn't imagine ever going anywhere else for my animals. In a world where so many people have lost the ability to be empathetic or compassionate, a place like Snider Veterinary is truly a diamond in the rough. Do yourself and your best friend a favor, and a schedule an appointment. *************************************************************** A diamond in the rough. Dr. Snider's office reminds me of the doctor's offices you see on tv -- you know, back when people cared. First, the prices. Everything is affordable, and if you call and ask, you'll get a straight answer. They will tell you up front how much office visits, prescriptions, etc. are. If your animal requires a follow-up appointment, you typically aren't charged for that, it's part of the original office fee (which is about $30). They also offer PAYMENT OPTIONS. During our tricky recession, when I was starting my career, I made ducats. The $200 teeth cleaning for my high maintenance Chi required weeks of saving up for. Dr. Snider's office, was willing to work with me on the payments. They're philosophy was that it was more important that animals receive care, and they wouldn't want to see one go without, because their parents fell on hard times. I asked them if they get burned a lot because of it, and the billing woman told me, "well we hope that those that can't pay now, will when they can". The care my dog has received has been wonderful. He has serious skin and allergy issues and Dr. Snider and the other vets who see him, work with me at trying to resolve. When D had some moles on his body, I was told we should have a biopsy done. I asked if we should biopsy them all and was told, "No, that's really just excessive to your pocket book. We'll do the one -- and go from there if necessary." Again, being honest about what the animal needs! Overall, this place is great. It's a bit of a drive for me now -- but well worth it. read more

I absolutely love Snider Veterinary Services!! Booking an appointment is chaotic as they are always booked for at least a week out (don't really know if that is a good or bad thing; good for business; bad for a pup that needs to see his favorite Vet!). They are personable, reasonably priced (compared to what I am accustomed to paying) and very very NICE! We have only visited twice but those two times were enough to convince me that they are the right "doctor" for my son, Duke. Not only are they amazing during visits, but post-visit they call and check up on you as well. Carol (or is it Cindy?) has called me every week to check on my dog's progress; until of course she heard that he was 90% back to himself! The one week waits to see the Vet is okay in my book (unless of course it is an emergency) and I will continue visiting this establishment. read more

I've been taking my dog to Snider Vet for almost 9 years. The first thing you'll notice is cleanliness. The second thing is the employees. They all genuinely care about your pet. Dr. Snider is the best. My dog actually gets excited when we go there. He may be one of the only dogs that loves going to the vet. I've also met with Dr. Hamilton a couple of times and she's just as wonderful. Again, they are just a very caring staff. Litterally the worst I don't even know where to begin me and my boyfriend just moved to the area and we're looking for a new vet I took both of our dogs in to get established and the initial appointment went great I had asked for heart worm medication for both of our dogs because they both need it and a medication for an ear infection for one of our dogs and we needed a prescription for one of our dogs that has epilepsy they only thing we got was the prescription I then called again a week later and asked for the heart worm medication still not receiving it. Then I went back again only to receive medication for one dog. Then a few weeks after that we needed a refill on our prescription so we called and left a voicemail and so did my boyfriend then the next day then they next day then it was Christmas Eve and they were closed and still hadn't filled it. Our dog is severely epileptic so having his prescription is top priority. I ended up calling the old vet that they were supposed to send the records to but simply never did and thank god they were understanding enough to give us some medication for him to last for a few days. Finally once they opened up again I had to call again and they eventually filled it that day after some very heated discussion. I asked for the other things needed yet again and still did not receive it. I'm a pretty understanding person and I don't mind the wait times or the prices or anything like that and even if the prescription wasn't such a necessity i wouldn't have been as compelled to come and give a review. But it's the lack of effort to just attempt to do anything or their job at all if I could give this vet negative stars I would because quite frank it's the worst vet I've even been too. read more

My dogs were patients of Dr. Snider's for 15 years. Dr. Snider (the elder) was always wonderful with our dogs and gave them top notch care. Prices were reasonable too. I didn't care for Dr. Hamilton, so I always asked not to see her. The staff was always great. I had to have 2 of my dogs put to sleep there and they were very kind and gave me all the time I needed to say goodbye. I would still be going there if I didn't move away. read more

I will be finding another vet after our experience this afternoon (June 25, 2016). My dog has been going to this vet for 8 years, but I am now finished here. Every appointment we have for a yearly exam I have to wait between 30-45 minutes after my appointment time to be seen by the vet. So, I am consistently there over an hour for a 10-15 minute exam. That is just unacceptable. Today was the end of it for me. Last year (2015) I got my dog the 3-year rabies vaccine and when my husband came home today he told me that they gave our dog ANOTHER 3 year vaccine and charged us $25 for it. (Hubby didn't know I'd gotten it last year; he thought I did the 1 year.) The vet didn't check our chart to see that we didn't need it! My dog was even wearing his rabies tag that indicated the renew date on his collar! There's many other vets in our area; I'll be trying someone else next year. read more

my dog contracted a eye infection from another dog he walks with and I called and told them that. they insisted on an appointment if I came in that day it was $70 for the office visit and if I came in the next day it was $50 for the office visit! Which is ridiculous! I chose to come in the next day and explained to the girl I wasn't working. When I got there they ask you to weigh your dog on their scale. my dog is 5 and he has always weighed between 11 and 12 lbs. the last time he was there they weren't letting you come in and they weighed him at 16lbs, so when I weighed him this time it was 12 and the receptionist was rude and didn't believe me. so when I got in a room and the vet came in she said the receptionist wrote a note to re weigh him and this scale was 11lbs. So I didn't get a sorry or a kind word. The vet said she had to do a $20 dollar test to see if his eye is scratched, I told her the story and she wouldn't give him the medication unless I did the test. My girlfriends vet did not make her do this test. So I said ok. His eye was not SCRATCHED and the test took 20 second. so I get to the counter and the girl tells me $107 dollars the same one who was rude to me when I got there. I asked her why it was so much and she said the test was $29 and the prescription was $28 plus the office visit I told her the vet said the test was $20 and she just repeated her self louder like that was supposed to make me uncomfortable or understand better! I told her I was expecting to pay 20 more and she just rolled her eyes at me! My girlfriends vet only charged her $15 for the medication! I think in these times people shouldn't try and take advantage of you! I feel like I paid $45 too much! Also was treated very rude by the girl with the black hat at the front desk! read more

I have been taking my dogs here since 2004; first our basset hound, Maggie, and then our MinPin, Taz. Maggie was prone to fatty cysts, and Dr. Hamilton and Dr. Snider always took excellent care of her and would give me the most cost effective options than would ensure the best for my girl. Taz is diabetic; Dr. Snider worked with me for months to get his blood sugar under control and the correct dosage of insulin. I am proud to say five years later, Taz is still doing great and pretty darn healthy. We lost our Magpie in January of 2016. We got to the office late in the day, and when we made our decision to let her go, the entire office staff was incredibly supportive, and when we walked out of the exam room into the lobby, everyone in the office was at the front desk to say goodbye and offer sympathies, even though it was past time to close. My children and I will never forget that. We now have two more hound dogs that we rescued, and they will now be part of the Snider family as well read more

Just want to say we have had our pets 2 dogs taking them to snider ber for the past 16yrs just love dr Hamilton and dr snider last yr I called because I felt my little shituz mister I was in desire need of an emergency visit the receptionist was extremely rude and could not see my mister I then felt he needed to be seen so I called around until I could get him in as emergency visit well I did that day mister was diagnosed with kidney and heart failure which we had to put him him down the filling week how devastated that was still miss him every day so snider did not fulfill the emergency situation with our mister . I was new to this office yesterday, I have a Holland Hop (bunny) and it is not easy to find a vet let alone a vet compassionate vet who will treat a bunny without out sedation. This was a great experience all of the staff were very welcoming and kind. Dr. Snider is amazing. This is now our new vet and I will be telling all my friends and family to go here. Last month my dog had an allergic reaction to an insect bite and they stayed open (the office was closing for the day when I called) until I got there so he could be seen and treated.
