What a fabulous location for a fabulous hotel. I cannot praise this hotel highly enough! Attended the wedding of my sister and her new husband there on Friday last...and despite the weather being pretty awful, the hotel staff made absolutely sure that all the wedding guests felt warm and cosy and were looked after to perfection. There was a huge blazing fire in the main foyer just as
the wedding guests arrived, warm scones were served immediately with melting butter and jam, hot tea and coffee as well as a selection of drinks and of course lovely bubbly was in ample supply. The covered in area at the front of the hotel was made available for photographs (due to the inclement weather). Checking in to our rooms took very little time with 3 staff doing this job at the main reception. The rooms were gloriously luxurious and extra large with amazing views out over the estuary/bay. From what we could tell most rooms (even for 2 guests) had a king and a single bed. The bedrooms on the second floor where we were located were extremely quiet and located away from any noise in the main bar or function areas. The meal served at the wedding of over 200 guests was simply delicious, without a fault, and for this large number, was served in a highly efficient manner with more than ample waiting staff. Breakfast the next morning was equally delicious with the usual "full Irish" but also plenty of fresh fruit, juices, yoghurts, breads and pastries etc., and best of all served up to 11.00 am - badly needed after a long night of excess and dancing!
Would love to return to this gorgeous hotel in the future, but next time for much longer and during the summer with hopefully better weather, in order to appreciate the surrounding area and the tranquility of the hotel. read more
