I searched high and low for different vendors that fit the fusion that we wanted, but couldn't find anything that fit just right (or that didn't break the bank). Then I somehow stumbled across Rebel Catering on Google. They had a wide variety of packages for food varying from Asian, to bbq, to Mexican. They didn't have a ton of reviews, and it seemed like they mostly did corporate events, but I gave them a call. I'll be honest, I was a bit apprehensive of how incredibly chill Rahul is at first (because I was already stressed out), but when I told him about our vision, he immediately checked with his chefs and created an incredible menu for us. My mom and mother in law's primary request was copycats of the other restaurant's corn fritters, and he even delivered on that. I'll attach a picture of the menu, but our minds were blown at the quality and freshness of the food. Buffet style brisket is HARD and he and his team crushed it. I even had friends with allergies and he accommodated them without question. The most popular part of the night though was the shaved ice. Part of Rebel Catering is their shaved ice package with alcoholic shaved ice (TABC bartender included). They had custom flavors to match our Asian fusion theme, and even brought their truck in to serve our guests! They also created a custom flavor named after our cat and created a sign with a cute cartoon of him. They also had tons of other drinks including sodas, jelly drinks, boba drinks, and energy drinks. We had wanted to stay away from the typical meals you find at weddings, and gravitated toward comfort food incorporated with upscale dining. After speaking to her about the types of restaurants and foods we like, she set up a tasting for us and our parents with what we had come up with. She hit the nail on the head with every morsel! There was a selection of appetizers, main dishes and sides to choose from, as well as a refreshing non-alcoholic watermelon juice drink. Everything was phenomenal! We ended up choosing a tuna tartare, open-faced duck taco, and goat cheese tartlet for our cocktail reception appetizers--all super yummy! We also had a mac and cheese station, with truffles as an option to add, which we thoroughly enjoyed! There were also two specialty drinks we came up with last minute (one "girl" drink--a white wine peach sangria, and one "boy" drink--a vodka martini infused with jalapeño and cucumber)--those went fast! The sit-down reception started off with a salad consisting of butter lettuce, blue cheese, candied walnuts and green apple with a lemon basil vinaigrette--sooooo good. We decided to do family style dining for our guests to choose whichever dishes they like and the amount they wanted. For the main dishes, there was an amazing beef tenderloin (really on par with some great steakhouses) with French compound butter & crispy fried onions and a succulent halibut with Italian salsa verde, quinoa and sautéed kale. We also experienced resistance to having the flatware and glasses on guest tables as planned, and I had to step away from my guests to manage trash removal all while needing to vacate the venue by 10 PM. On a positive note, the food itself was tasty and many guests enjoyed it. I share this feedback to help future clients know that clear execution of timelines and agreed-upon service is critical, especially for milestone events.

I submitted a request on Monday, Jon told me that they were booked but could arrange a drop off and asked for a good time to speak on the phone. We spoke on Tuesday, and although he could not offer what he originally mentioned (appetizers, buffet etc), I was thankful and more than happy to accept the grazing table option. He stated that he would send me an estimate Wednesday. I received an estimate on Wednesday at 10:20 pm, which I accepted. This morning (Thursday), Jon replied that he would confirm everything with his chef and send me an invoice later. At 8:20 pm this evening, I got an email saying that Food Addiction would not be able to accommodate my event. I completely understand the last minute nature of my request but this company should've either turned me down immediately, or at least communicated this earlier in the day (phone call would've been nice). All of the other businesses Jon suggested were already closed for the day. In our communications, Jon tells me that I'm the very first person that their company has cancelled on. With only 3 reviews, I find that very hard to believe. I recommend considering an established local company with better business practices and communication for your event and avoiding Food Addiction at all costs.
