GRAPHIC IMAGE WARNING!!! I'm writing this review to warn others about my extremely upsetting experience with SNAP Neuter Scooter. I brought my cat to them to be spayed, trusting that she would receive safe and professional care. Unfortunately, what happened afterward has been traumatic and heartbreaking. Within a short time after her surgery, I noticed her incision didn't look right -- it began opening up and appeared red and irritated. When I got home from work one day, I realized the wound had opened completely from the inside out. I immediately rushed her to an emergency veterinary hospital, where she had to be taken into emergency surgery. The emergency vet confirmed that SNAP Neuter Scooter had not properly closed the internal layers of her incision, which caused the wound to separate and become severely infected. They also discovered that the green tattoo was applied directly over her surgical wound, which should never have been done. The infection had spread so deeply that the emergency vet had to widen and reopen the incision, clean out the infection, and re-suture the internal and external layers properly. This situation caused my cat significant pain and put her life at risk -- not to mention the emotional stress and expensive emergency bills I had to pay to fix a surgery that was done incorrectly. I understand that complications can happen, but this was not a normal complication. This was the result of poor surgical technique and lack of proper closure. A low-cost service should still meet basic veterinary standards of care, and what happened to my cat was unacceptable. I strongly urge other pet owners to think twice before using this service. What I went through was terrifying, and no pet or pet parent should have to experience this. I did try to go back to the clinic to see what action can be taken and i feel as though they refused to take any accountability. They offered for me to bring my cat back to do a full check up on Tuesday but she's been through so much stress and pain already, that I feel more comfortable following up with her normal vet instead. They refused to take anymore accountability then a "full check up" on Tuesday... I am very upset and so heartbroken my poor baby had to go through this. I am soooo grateful for SNAP's assistance with my baby girl! Her incision site is so small, it honestly looks laparoscopic! She probably could have used a little more time coming off of anesthesia before I picked her up... she struggled walking to the car.... getting in... and was quite out of it coming home... They are very kind, helpful and considerate. Your pet will be checked for fleas, worms, dental issues,ear problems, skin issues and more. They will treat at no or very little cost to you, and provide follow up services if needed. You can get a free nail clipping and Rabies shot if needed at your appointment! The dates for treatment in your area can be found on their website, as well as the application for an appointment. To preface, I'm an over protective cat mom and we brought our 7 month old cat to be spayed with SNAP. I was so nervous, but the appointment, check in and pick up process was really easy, streamlined, timely, and they provide all the information you need. The spay is such a fair price. Most importantly, the vet did an amazing job, I've never seen a cleaner or smaller incision and stitch on a spay before. Our cat healed up so quick and so well, there was no incision bleeding or infection. She did have pain for a couple days, but that's typical for the procedure. I do wish they had the option to purchase additional pain meds, but at the same time my cat was only in more severe pain for 1 day. When I adopted my second dog, Malcolm, he was still intact at 3 years old. Not sure how he escaped neutering, having been in the shelter several different times, but I had to sign a form promising to show proof of neutering within two months after adoption. I almost fainted when I got $600 estimates from two different vets. That's a lot of money to me. The second vet suggested I look at SNAP and they were much more reasonably priced at $225 for my income range. (It's lower for people with less income.) I admit I looked for tons of reviews and opinions before signing Malcolm up. They had some bad reviews due to staff issues before COVID many years ago, but that appears to have been resolved in more recent years. I was told the reason it's cheaper is because they don't do some of the precautionary measures a vet does, such as blood tests to make sure the organs can handle the anesthesia, having an IV line in in case something goes wrong, and having dedicated vet techs to look after the dog when they wake up from surgery. Malcolm is a pretty normal dog and we had solved his residual medical issues from the shelter in the first month I had him, so aside from being slightly underweight, I figured he could probably handle not having the extras. Fortunately I was correct and everything went very smoothly the day of his surgery. I was more than happy to have him back home quickly, especially because of his poor shelter experience. I didn't want him to think I had abandoned him. When we showed up that day the paperwork was easy and the staff was helpful with my nervous questions. He was only there for four hours before he was back home with a cone. It did take all day for the anesthesia to wear off but that was best so he didn't bother the incision. The incision was so well done I couldn't even really tell where it was. As long as you follow their instructions and keep the cone on for at least 10 days, everything should go just fine. I think because they do so many in a day they have it down to a science, and I know boys are much easier than girls, but they did a really great job for a much lower price than any regular vet. Malcolm was back to his normal self within 24 hours and everything healed up within the first two weeks without issue. Again, I feel that *as long as your dog does not have special needs,* this is a great option. If your dog has never had a blood panel done, I do recommend doing that before surgery at your regular vet, just to make sure they can handle the anesthesia. Even paying for that, SNAP was still cheaper than the vet hospital estimates I received. read more

Oh SNAP! You guys are awesome. We spent timeless hours searching for affordable neutering options for our 7 month old puppy, Kobe. We received numerous quotes that were way above our budget ($250-$400). I researched SNAP and submitted an application online and was contacted the very next day to schedule Kobe's neutering appointment for just $77! I was floored, absolutely ecstatic. The first available appointment was about a month out, which was understandable because it is an actual "mobile neuter/spay center" with limited space. Communication was great! They kept us posted on our pup's appointment and sent us reminders and additional check information etc. The operation itself seemed to go quite well. Just had my Malinois spayed at the neuter scooter in Escondido and had a GREAT experience. We had originally tried to get in as a standby, but when all the scheduled pups showed up we weren't able to. I was then scheduled for a guarantee appointment later in the month. The next day they called me because someone had cancelled their appointment and were able to get us in the next day. All staff were very pleasant and helpful throughout the entire step of the process, and very kind to my pup. She is dog reactive and was understandably a little stressed, but the staff assisted me every step of the way. We had our rabbit Pookie spayed at the Neuter Scooter on Sunday August 4th. They had it parked next to the San Diego House Rabbit Society so it was a familiar location. Our appointment was at 7 AM. They had sent us a confirmation by email. We got there 10 minutes early but they were organized and ready to go. We filled out the paperwork and they checked in the rabbit and set the pick up time for Noon. At noon we got there and they went over the post operative care information and answered all our questions. We also opted to pay $10 extra dollars to have a microchip in case she gets lost, we can hopefully be reunited. Our rabbit was ready right at noon. This is the second day after the surgery and she seems to be recuperating very well. Pet care is very expensive, but this organization makes neutering and spaying very reasonable for people who want to be responsible pet owners but cannot afford the outrageous prices to have their pet fixed at the vets. I was very grateful for this organization. I think the state of CA and the city of San Diego should be actively subsidizing this Organization. Our shelters are bursting at the seams and I was quoted over $600 to get this done at other veterinary clinics. Rabbits are tricky animals to operate on and if your vet is not familiar with them even the wrong anesthesia can kill them. I would have scraped the money together somehow because this is very important for the care of my rabbit, but I don't know how many people with families could have funds for this in these tough economic times. I had been trying to get an appointment for a couple months so I know they need more buses and more vets. They know what their doing and I was relieved she was in safe hands. There's a huge demand. So so happy with SNAP! My intact dog and my new roommates intact dog were starting to get aggressive with each other and the humane society could fit them in until 2 month out. My friend gave me there number and they were able to fit both of them in within a week. The whole process was so quick and only took one morning. The pups came home with a cone, medication, rabies shot, licensing, and a nail trim. Where I live in Ramona, I inherited four feral cats, then at the end of March somebody dropped a pregnant calico off in front of my home. We were so impressed with our neutering experience with our cat Pepper. It was so nice and smooth, everyone was professional, friendly and easy to work with. We followed the directions exactly as they requested and had no problems. We put him in a carrier we got on Amazon that is recommended for cats to be carried onto the plane (Alaska airlines) and put under the seat in front of you. It worked out perfect. Being a male cat they don't require or suggest one of those horrible cone things either and he didn't end of bothering his stitches so it wasn't needed. Our cat was a bit out of it for about 2 hours after he came home. After we were home for 4 hours he had 1/2 his normal meal. They give them pain time release pain medicine that lasted 72 hours so he never was in pain. His incision looks perfect, they didn't even have to shave him. I think they even trimmed his claws. I can not say enough good things about how pleased we were with the whole thing and for such a fair and reasonable price compared to the $500+ our vet would have charged. Great service, very professional, very caring! Registration was pretty fast and clear. Received a call following date and was offered 2 closest days and locations available. Couple weeks before this procedure I took my puppy for a regular check up and thick/flee medication at local vetco and Dr advised me my puppy still has 2 baby teeths next to permanent teeths and they need to be extracted in 2 weeks if they don't come out naturally. I meant to ask at Snap project if there is a chance that could be done at the same time but completely forgot. When I returned to pickup my puppy noticed there were blood marks on my puppy's cone and nurse confirmed baby teeth were extracted during the main procedure. It only tells you that they do care about animals and did that without asking. And no additional charges were added! Very grateful and very happy. It has been 5 days, everything healing nicely and my puppy getting back to normal. 5 more days to go with cone which she hates but got to be done. My boyfriend and I took our 6 month old pug for her spay yesterday. He went to work and on my way to pick up our Mishka, I got in a car accident.
