They are a bit more expensive that Greggs but the quality is far better and worth paying for especially for the bread and rolls. They also have a small cafe at the back of the shop. Canalside Farm actually wasn't what I expected, but it was still good. We went to both the Cafe and…read morethe Farm shop just before Christmas because of three reasons; 1) We'd heard good things 2) We needed to buy my Uncle some cheese for Christmas 3) I love farm shops In the cafe, I had the eggs Benedict, which was gorgeous, just the right amount of hollandaise, enough pepper to cut through the richness, all in all a good show. The most impressive looking thing on our table was the burger, a big plate loaded with chips and salad, however it wasn't a gorgeous thick patty like we expected, "like a van burger, but better" was the comment. Not all of the chips were finished, but the rest was eaten. Cakes looked nice, but we didn't have any. The farm shop is small, but well stocked. There were still quite a lot of branded goods, and quite a few things that you can get in your average decent supermarket. I do think it's just personal preference that I like my farm shops plastic free and crammed into a room in a country house with an honesty box, and I know that's not the right model for most. There was a good range of veg, cheeses, meats, and a little booze corner. I'd say it's worth a visit.

I can't Bear-lieve I haven't reviewed my hometowns coffee saving grace yet?…read more This coffee shop is exactly what Uttoxeter needed and they've got all elements for a 3rd wave coffee shop, spot on. A lovely space that is perfect for anybody. From the Mummy with a pram that needs a caffeine fix from sleepless nights, to Great-Grandmas that need a break from their charity shop shopping... and all those in between. A good selection of seating areas to suit people who want to get some work done, or instead catch up with friends. The coffees are all well made and it's so refreshing to taste their guest beans that change regularly. I can also vouch for the food here. The brunch menu is served until mid afternoon and I can HIGHLY recommend the pancakes! But the food ranges from bagels to egg bennies to avo toast to toasties to bagels to sandwiches to salads. All great quality and reasonably priced. They have also opened a new place in Derby which just shows how well they're doing. Bear Coffee truly makes living in Uttoxeter, that little bit more "bear"able.

This little bakery was jammed with all kinds of bread, pastries and cookies. I selected a sticky bun type of thing with raisins and currants as well as a chocolate chip cookie. Both were fantastic. If I could have eaten more, I would have ordered 1 of everything. It all looked very good. The service is excellent, with a bunch of ladies exuding classic English charm. Very pleasant and helpful.

Everything is made fresh every day, and every lunch time there is a queue out of the door. Service is pretty fast as it's over the high, goody-filled counter, but it's always polite. The BLT sandwiches are salty and full of awesome, the fresh cream cakes are hard to resist, and the custard slices are cut far more neatly than mine at home. I'm not particularly fond of the chocolate numbers myself, if I'm tempted, I go for the rhubarb and cherry slices (super moist), and things like the Belgian buns are pretty snazzy too. A couple of things worth noting are- They have a slicing machine- so if there's any loaves you want, but are only capable of cutting diagonal doorsteps at home, they can deal with it. If you want a hot sausage or bacon sandwich for example, you're possibly going to have a little wait as they like to cook things fresh. If you ring in advance, you can avoid standing in the corner by the fridge of drinks for a short while.
