I'm grateful that I can find so many Asian snacks, foods, and little treats that I love. One of my favorite things is the convenience of being able to buy something you love, microwave it right there, and then just chill and enjoy your food in their huge dining area. Sometimes it's the simple things like that that make me happy. I love where I live. For months, people have been telling me about their dried aku, and I kept saying "soon, soon." Well, soon finally happened, and I have nobody to blame but myself for waiting this long. Now, before I go any further -- yes, I forgot to take photos. I know. I know. But here's the thing: the moment that dried aku hit the table, all my food blogger instincts went completely out the window. It was just me and that fish, and nothing else mattered. The dried aku was everything the hype promised -- deeply savory, with that concentrated, almost smoky flavor you only get when something is made with real patience and skill. The kind of dish that makes you close your eyes after the first bite. Absolutely ono. No notes. Next time -- and there will be a next time, probably very soon -- I'm going in for the laulau. We ordered one of their family packs, which was listed as serving 4-8 people. We had a party of 6 and there was still so much food left over! Everything was flavorful, satisfying, and definitely felt like a great value for a family-style meal. We went on a Friday evening and were also treated to live music, which made the night even more enjoyable. This left me emotional, frustrated, and breaking down to him as I was so excited to see his reaction of it all. Cancelling on guests with only an hour's notice is extremely unprofessional. I spoke with Evelyn and even as she kept apologizing and offering for me to speak to a manager, I had no time in the moment as our friends and I were left scrambling to find somewhere else for a nice birthday dinner. Super disappointing and no offer from the business in trying to make things right except to "reschedule". Simply offering a voucher for another night would have been a nice gesture to help amend the cancellation, but no, nothing. In all my years of event planning and large dinner events, never have I experienced this type of behavior from an establishment. People BEWARE! This restaurant WILL last minute cancel your reservation if the opportunity presents itself. No respect or common decency. Take your family, friends, and money elsewhere.

When we entered, one employee was wiping down the refrigerator doors while another was seated behind the counter. Unfortunately, we weren't greeted or acknowledged when we walked in. We browsed the store, which had a good selection of Filipino products, and I decided to purchase the onion and chive SkyFlakes crackers along with two banana lumpia. The male employee rang up the crackers and then spoke to the female employee in another language regarding the lumpia. I assumed everything was included in one transaction, but when I walked over to her, I realized I needed to pay separately. When she began putting both lumpia together in foil, I politely asked if they could be wrapped separately. Her reaction made me feel as though my request was an inconvenience. Overall, the transaction itself was fine, but the customer service could be more welcoming. A simple greeting and clearer communication would make a big difference. I also think that when discussing a customer's order, communicating in a language the customer understands would help avoid confusion and make the interaction feel more inclusive.

Great flavors with a crunchy texture. The joong or zong zhi was mochi rice with pork and preserved egg. If you were looking for home style sticky rice, you got it here with a bit of a light sauce. The preserved egg brings back memories of Popo's kitchen/ your childhood. We tried Taiwan tofu pudding for dessert. You should order it even if you order nothing else. Perfect for two. Silky tofu in a slightly sweet sauce with shaved ice, boba and peanuts combine for a perfect dessert. Not heavy and just sweet enough to tempt a non-dessert person.
