Travelling through Nestor Falls and needed to refuel so we stopped in at Monique's. The place has…read morethe rustic log cabin appearance down pat, with friendly staff and a straightforward menu that offers the traditionals with a couple of nice specials. We had the nachos (nicely piled with toppings), the poutine (with cheese curds and nice gravy) some burgers (good size) and the chicken special (the best dish of the bunch, grilled with a home made sweet and sour sauce and served on rice - really good). The prices are reasonable, the food arrives without a long wait, and there is a good selection of desserts. Hard to go wrong here, a pretty good place to get some decent food.

During the time of coronavirus, The Cornerstone is offering dine-in and takeout service. Patio…read moreavailable at the back. I started my meal with The Cornerstone Salad (mixed greens, strawberries, red onions, feta, candied pecans, signature strawberry balsamic vinaigrette). I was blown away by this salad. The greens were fresh, the strawberries were ripe, sweet and plentiful, the candied pecans were crunchy, and the signature strawberry balsamic vinaigrette brought all the flavors together perfectly. It was a lovely light and refreshing salad. For my main I ordered the Chicken Bacon Mushroom Carbonara (fettuccine, roasted chicken breast, applewood smoked bacon, sauteed creminis, garlic Back Oven sourdough). This dish was so rich and decadent - a heart attack on a plate - but delicious! The flavor of the sauteed creminis was enhanced by the creamy sauce, and the smoked bacon added a nice overall touch. Service was OK; I did takeout and it took much longer for the food to be ready than originally promised, but the wait was worth it. I also absolutely loved how all the takeout packaging was eco-friendly, no plastic at all! Street parking available. TLDR; good food, eco-friendly takeout packaging, highly recommended

This place reminded me why I should trust Yelp reviews more than Google ones…read more The positive - food was quick and the view is absolutely amazing, great outdoor patio right on the water. Portion sizes were large. The bad - service seemed disinterested, wasn't greeted by anyone upon entering, despite a bartender at the bar, a gentleman (manager maybe?) setting a table, and a waitress bringing food past me. Once finally seated Service again seemed disinterested, taking a rather long time to greet me and bring a menu/take my order though the establishment was not busy at all. But worst of all was the tasteless meal. I got the walleye (aka pickerel) and though the presentation looked nice the fish had no taste. I don't usually need Tartar sauce but this one would have benefited from some, had it been included. I don't ever add salt to my food but this needed seasoning, of almost any type. Similarly the rice was bland and mushy and the asparagus was oily, also with no taste. Very disappointed. Also disappointing was the lack of any local beer options.
