The vertical gain is over 400 ft, stunning views and best suited for mountain goats. A definite MUST DO early in the morning and a great way to start the day. We arrived in Monterossa, tired, hungry, stinky and yet proud we had seen the breath taking views of the coast. We were meandering through town when a torrential downpour hit the streets. We quickly dove into the closest restaurant to escape the rain, dry off and get lunch. We had landed at Fast Bar. No research, no planning, just the first open restaurant with indoor seating! Fast Bar is an eclectic Germanish, bikers style bar with loud music and simple sandwiches and soups. Little did we know the sandwich combo hit the spot with great tastes and a safe refuge. It was a perfect spot to shelter from the rain. We ordered a fabulous Caesar salad that was nicely dressed and the Incubus sandwich on flatbread. The sandwich had ham, olive spread and mozzarella. The dishes were not fancy, but perfect for the situation. Fast Bar in Monterossa is simple, great value and has sandwiches with very good taste. It has a German punk biker bar feel, but it works and the staff is hustling to provide friendly and warm service with a smile. They are well worth the try.

The appetizers were just average and didn't really impress us, but my anchovy pasta was surprisingly delicious and definitely the highlight of the meal for me. The cocktails were also really nice and paired perfectly with the setting. Overall, I'd come back for the beautiful atmosphere, incredible views, cocktails and a romantic night out. I went to Bar Centrale twice during my stay in Riomaggiore. Last night (10/21/2024) during my…read moresecond visit there the owner's brother in law, who I had never met before (Fiorenzo, picture included), asked to join me at my table because I was traveling alone. He was very drunk, but the beginning of the conversation was friendly. He listed off the multiple restaurants his family owned in the village. About 10 minutes into the conversation he started attempting to feed me and hug me, making vulgar comments to me and offering me sex, so I told him he was making me uncomfortable. He became angry and left. I attempted to pay inside and the waiter told me the bill had already been taken care of. At this point Fiorenzo returned and started shouting at me that he never said anything inappropriate to me, he does not want me or need me for sex. A tourist couple who had seen and heard the entire exchange offered to walk me back to my room, which was not in the central part of town. We realized Fiorenzo was following us. He began yelling that I had to come back and pay, he does not appreciate me telling people bad things about him because he is a good man. I began crying out of fear and was in a complete panic. The tourist couple ran Fiorenzo off. I returned to the restaurant offering to pay again. I explained the circumstance to the owner and employees, asking them to please help me. They simply stared at me while I cried, then allowed Fiorenzo to hover over me and whisper into my ear, "you won this time, but there is something deeply sick inside of you that we must fix." I ran from him and finally the owner states he will take care of it, then calls a family member. I was able to make it to my room safely while the tourists made sure he did not follow me again. Within an hour I could see Fiorenzo from my balcony, circling the area he had last followed me to. Clearly the owner and family took care of nothing. I wish I had called police, but now I can at least share this warning with other visitors of the Cinque Terre. Do not engage with this man in the picture, and if you choose to visit Bar Centrale or the adjoining restaurants, be aware of the management you're supporting. Many other reviews have mentioned issues with the owner. I've even found reviews stating the owner ignored women reporting that a waiter groped them. Locals in town were able to identify Fiorenzo for me and provide a picture, and they did not seem surprised by his actions. The experience that occurred at Bar Centrale last night was extremely scary and I believe it would have become dangerous if these tourists had not stepped in to help. The owner simply watched and allowed it all to happen.
