I walked in on a Saturday to zero customers and at 4-5 female employees. They all saw me come in and looked away or down. I recently started visiting Smoothie King several times a week. It didn't take long to find my favorite flavor. The Pineapple Surf with yogurt added is wonderful! My daughter is trying them all. She's liked everything except Pumpkin Delight. I had to agree. It seems that it takes the staff a little while to come out of their shell. They're always helpful but once you visit a few times they never fail to say "Hello Nancy" as soon as I get through the doors. They remember my drinks and my daughter's allergies. Menu is uber large - messily displayed - but you'll definitely find something to drink or you can create your own. I enjoyed a vanilla protein powder almond milk shake with bananas and peanut butter. They offer Super Sized options too so be careful as those can be easily over the 1,000 calorie mark. Store is a jumbled mess but you can pick up various protein products and I was delighted to see the vegan lemon poppyseed cookie line I used to eat in California. Overall, totally fine and I'd return if looking for a smoothie or products, if it were on my way that day. Not a destination place though. Good business model for them. Hadn't been here before and enjoyed my first stop in, but definitely won't be back after my second visit. The menu is not at all user friendly and substitutions cannot be made without an extra charge. I have a banana allergy and was told I could have something else added instead and that I could get strawberry flavored protein instead of vanilla. However, after I was rung up for $10, it was explained that both of these substitutions were a dollar a piece. The staff were really great and apologetic, but it's not their fault. I would like to say me and my husband bee going to smoothie king this particular location for years never had anything bad to say. Love the smoothies and the customers service never been an problem. Every year at least for the last three yearsChristmas time I purchase gift certificates for stocking stuffers. I actually called to make sure they was doing them this year and was told yes. First it was clear upon arriving that Mary had an attitude but understood some can't leave personal home and be professional at work. I asked about the gift certificate she proceeded to tell me she worked their 2 years and never was gift certificates. I purchased for the last three. I don't like debating or arguing it's very unprofessional. I asked what was her name she said what's your name I told her mine and she told me hers with the same nasty attitude. Please ask your associate she to do the golden rule in the bible treat people how u would like to be treated. They have so many combinations and will mix them up for you if you want a twist. I have been to many Smoothie Kings from CA to FL and have always had great service and even patience when I want just about everything they have into one smoothie. Yes it is is expensive, yes it is good fresh fruit and proteins and yes it is always worth the money. The only problem I made is buying a large for my little body and it took me like two days to finish it up but tasted just as good the next day. Staff here was super polite and as I said patient, when these places are super busy with a long line I try to step aside and let others ahead because I do not get to Smoothie King often enough that I will wait for others who know what they want. Smoothie King 2708 SW College Road Ocala, FL 34474 Yesterday I stopped there on the way from Fleming Island to Punta Gorda. I was traveling with my daughter, and we were excited about the stop as every Smoothie King near us, both at our home in Fleming Island and our vacation home in Punta Gorda, has closed and we had six or seven partially filled punch cards we had collected over the years that we wanted to finally redeem. All together, there were 26 punches, so we planned to get two small smoothies. Instead, as we were ordering, the owner/manager came over and abruptly cancelled our order, saying he wouldn't honor my cards even though he still participated in the loyalty program. When I asked why, he said that many of the punches were made simultaneously, such as all the punches on a partially filled card. When I explained that I was the father of three children and we often stopped for Smoothie Kings together or with friends and would get several at once, he accused me to my face, in front of my daughter, of using forged or somehow unethically obtained punch cards. What an outrage! I'm a physician and senior Naval officer. I don't need to use bogus rewards cards to get a smoothie! I left there livid and will never set foot in that location again. read more
