Stopped into Smoothie King today and ordered the Power Punch Plus (with a whey protein boost, because obviously I'm training for the Olympics... or at least trying to make it through the week). It was delicious--light, refreshing, and kept me full for hours. The real gold medalist though, was the woman working behind the counter. She greeted me with a big smile and was just plain delightful. Now here's where I come in... I managed to spill part of my smoothie right there on the counter (graceful, I know). I tried to clean it up, but she insisted she had it covered--still smiling the whole time. Then, to top it off, she actually replaced the smoothie I'd spilled. Who does that anymore?! The prices are bad considering a small is 20 ounces, you get a lot for what you pay for. I got one of the coffee smoothies, it was mixed with bananas and other things. The owner is great and very kind, but his employees are very unprofessional. A bunch of kids who will finish their conversation with eachother before helping you, cursing and talking about the other customer that just left before you. The guy with the tattoos on his arm that usually opens the store is never on time and complains when people come in at opening time. If you open at 7, you should be ready to help customers at 7. He's complained out loud or continued cleaning as I've waited. People have work to get to, maybe that's why they're there at opening? Smoothie King already opens half an hour later than Jamba Juice down the street. Smoothies are usually made good, but the service could be better. I come to this location on a regular due to it being close to my gym, but was met with horrible customer service today from Stephen. He first charged me for a drink and then tells me afterwards that one of the main ingredients (dates) was all out and offered to sub it for stevia or turbinado. I declined as not only are dates used as a natural sweetener, but also for texture, and simply adding stevia or turbinado will not make it taste the same. However, the drink was already made without the missing ingredient so instead of asking for a refund and dumping the product, I decided to tried to sub it for an alternative like cocoa/cinnamon. The drink was initially made too thick in which he tried to add water, but I told him not to as it will make it taste bad (which I experienced the hard way, previously). He said he "had to," but I told him no you don't, and to add another form of liquid like milk or almond milk to make it less thick, in which he stated he had to "charge me." "Charge me" when you made the drink too clumpy and thick? He then continued to do so with an attitude, talking under his breath and after the product was made, I requested a larger cup to a 32oz instead of a 20oz, because the quantity was larger than a 20oz. He then said he had to "charge me" for a larger cup and stated he can only pour it in a 20oz cup, and dump the rest. Of course I argued his remark stating I paid additional for add ons, so why would I have to pay for a larger cup? He said, because they would be "losing money" by giving me a larger cup. How? I already paid additional for add ons! And add ons = larger volume, thus larger cup, right? Common sense, but apparently not to him. He then poured it in a 32 oz cup and it filled all the way to the top (actually spilling over). And I stated, "you see, it's more than a 20 oz like I predicted," but he said it didn't matter if it's more than 20 oz, it's their "policy" to dump the rest. This led to a more heated argument as this was the most absurd thing I've ever heard, especially when I paid for the add ons. I then said I don't why he made this smoothie such a huge fuss, first over the drink being too thick and requesting to add another form of liquid besides water, then asking for a larger cup when it clearly filled over 32 oz, in which another one of his co-workers got involved trying to deescalate the issue. It didn't help, instead Stephen tried to talk over both of us, in which I stated I wasn't even "talking to him" and he responded, "well, I'm talking to you!" His co-worker didn't help by stating this was their "policy" and he continued to provoke me from behind her, and before things escalated even worse, I intelligently walked out of the establishment. However, this experience will not be forgotten as I will be reporting this incident to corporate and not returning to this store ever again. This place needs to be more consistent. I went here the other day with my sister and her friends. We ordered our usual drink that usually had an additional peanut butter and blueberries. When we looked at it, it looked too pink. We tried it and it had no peanut butter taste at all. I asked the girl if they added blueberries and peanut butter and she gave me a look and said yes. It clearly did not have blueberries and peanut butter. We were in a hurry so we just took what they made. I went again the next day to order the same thing and the girl made it perfectly. Today was my first and last visit to smoothie king. I've never been in one before. As I was ordering the two boys working there were so engulfed in their conversation and didn't really explain you can add things to the smoothie etc. which is fine. That's to be expected when you leave kids in a store to work it with no adult supervision. Well the boy making the smoothie was so into himself and letting everyone know he was the best recommendation for that place because he just got promoted to shift lead. I asked if I could exchange it for my regular prefer and the gentleman told me " it has greek yogurt and it's tart this time I'll do it but normally I wouldn't" he never made eye contact with me after that.
