This review is long overdue. I've been a Smooth Synergy customer for about 3 years and it's always been a great treatment and customer experience. I've been with the esthetician Marina from the start. She's attentive, knowledgeable about skin, easy to talk to, caring and never pushes products or extra treatments on me, which makes me open to buying more. Nicole, the owner, is wonderful as well. She will take the time to say "hello" to me if she's around and to check in to make sure that I'm happy. I've done ultherapy, radio frequency micro needling, and several packages of radio frequency facials. And will continue to come even though it's a bit of a trek for me! read more

Michelle is my esthetician and she is very knowledgeable and simply put "just excellent"! As a woman of color with darker skin tone I was very concerned when I scheduled my first appointment. There are clear disparities in dermatology and esthetics regarding knowledge in treating and caring for people with dark skin tones however when I met Michelle she answered all of my questions she understood my concerns and assured me she would only recommend treatments that would work for my skin color. I could really see the results after the first few treatments, the staff is always very friendly and very professional. It's a little pricier than other salons but you really do see the results. The therapist Michel did blame me for not knowing what they are about throughout the treatment and didn't clean the mess after her job was done. She also kept saying in America you have to do it yourself blah blah. Used these languages and the tone to talk to client all the time. This is looong over due just like all my reviews :-P I have been a client at Smooth Synergy for 2.5+ years. I absolutely love this hidden gem in midtown east! I was first referred to SS by my dermatologist when looking for a cosmedical spa for facials. I have had over a dozen facials, face peels, micro sessions and laser hair removal for different areas. I absolutely 100% trust their products, techniques and that I will have a great experience every time I go. My appointments are usually in the evening after a long stressful day at work and there is something soothing and calming about being there. I have referred a few friends and they have been very happy as well. The front desk girls, Nancy and Arielle are always welcoming and super accomodating with scheduling. Michelle, my esthetician is the BEST EVER. I have always had issues with skin breakouts and after going to her for a while on a consistent basis (every 4-6 weeks for facial) my skin is glowing. I also use their products at home (face wash, glyco pads, moisturizer) and do believe they have helped maintain my beautiful skin. Nicole, the owner is always pleasant and is genuinely interested in client concerns. I really do love the Smooth Syngery family and feel so lucky to have found them. read more

I just went to see Dr. Liakeas last week for some PRP work. I was a bit hesitant when I walked up as the outside of the building is nondescript and near some construction, however the office is beautiful. It is a whole entire floor, and it looks EXACTLY like the photos on their webpage. Everything is pristine and it looks and feels like an upscale medical spa. The office is both a medical office and a medical spa as Dr George is an internist. Whose physician's office is this nice??? Dr George is very nice and has a fantastic bedside manner. The day that I went in was super packed as everyone was trying to see him before he left town for a few days. I did wait a bit longer than anticipated, but Nancy, who I believe is his assistant, kept me well informed and up to date on wait times. It cannot be said enough times how nice the staff is. When I did see the Dr, I was the next in line of many, but he never made me feel rushed. He took his time explaining and going through the procedure and was very attentive to my level of comfort. I even got to speak with 2 ladies who'd had the same treatment I was getting (they were regulars) and they had flown in from out of state for the Dr's services. It helped put my mind at ease given this was my first experience with PRP. I liked it so much and had such good results I am going back for another procedure. I don't see any current reviews, but my visit happened 2 Friday's ago and I'm very pleased. I expect I'll be just as happy with the spa services on this upcoming appt. read more

A dear friend of mine purchased a Group-On voucher for a 60Min Swedish Massage and gave it to me as a gift. The session started with a long exercise of picking the oil scent. Even after I said I liked Lavender, there was an insistence on having me smell all the available scents! Once we had that determined, the masseuse proceeded to put on a pair of latex rubber gloves stating that she is allergic to the scent that I picked! I have never experienced a rubber glove massage! When the oil starts to draw thin on the skin, the gloves are really awful! read more

I used a Living Social deal for a signature facial so I'm not sure if the fact that I was getting a discounted service made a difference in my experience. I used a groupon to get a massage at Smooth Synergy, and was not impressed with the experience. The clerk at the front desk gave me three pages of forms to fill out, and the masseuse didn't even look at them because she walked into the waiting room and said: "Who's here to get a massage?" Obviously didn't know my name. She never told me hers either. The room was freezing cold, but soon warmed up with a space heater. It was tinier than the Asian massage rooms and only hooks for your clothes. She had me smell different oils, with no explanation as to why we were doing this. Then my allergies kicked in. I said "Don't you have lavendar?" "No, people keep asking for it, I guess I should tell them to buy some." She picked up on my sniffles and suggested something with no fragrance. She said smelling the oils is to see what your body needs at this time. Well she should have told me that or asked in advance if I had allergies. The massage itself was good. This woman (a tall African-American) clearly had a technique and knowledge of the body. Afterward, she didn't bring me a cup of water like they do after most massages I've gotten other places, just pointed the way out. I went to the rest room before leaving and saw pee specimens sitting on the counter. Gross. This place is also a doctor's office for skin treatments. I stood at the check out counter and waited. I asked "Do I owe any additional money?" She said no. "Would you like to make another appointment? "No thank you," and I hopped on the elevator, never to return. read more

Several friends of mine are patients of Dr. George Liakeas, and I was gifted a facial at Smooth Synergy and LOVED it! Knowing My friends' standards & Dr Liakeas renowned reputation- I was rather excited to visit Smooth Synergy. Upon arriving the staff was welcoming and courteous, attending to Me quickly and efficiently. There was a lot of construction going on outside during My visit and the aesthetician worked very diligently to accommodate My personal comfort level. She adjusted the lighting, fragrance of the room and the sound to My liking- so that the 'hustle and bustle' of the big apple didn't interfere with the treatment I was receiving. The aesthetician took her time with Me making sure I understood the procedure and products she was using. I REALLY appreciated the fact that her GENUINE concern was the health and current condition of My skin and not trying to 'up sell' Me on over priced products. As a avid spa goer, not only is the 'up sell' tacky- it completely ruins the relaxation and spa experience. When I had questions about various treatments and procedures that the aesthetician was not qualified to answer, she humbly brought in Dr George to explain. I appreciated that.... a LOT. Smooth Synergy wasn't what I expected as a spa experience. It was more. I LOVE the fact there is a medical office there. The staff feels very sincere in mindset of 'total healing' rather than "putting a band aid over it" theory. Having access to a Dr of that caliber is important to Me. The staff was beyond friendly, even when they had a swamped waiting room of customers. All in all it was a great experience. One of the best facials I've gotten. My skin was glowing and radiant for 2 weeks after. Truly a lovely gift. I'll definitely return! read more

I'm not sure if I'm an easier grader than others or I just got lucky at Smooth Synergy. I think it was ok. I was there with a coupon. They have morning hours on Saturday which is always a huge plus. Agreed that the choosing of the scents was a bit too much. The room is definitely excessively small. I would suggest either putting up some hangers or getting one of those plastic boxes for under the table or somewhere obvious to the side. The current method is not ideal. They do use towels and not paper like some of the truly cheap places out there. The bed is comfy and the lighting is perfect, even at 11am in the morning. The room itself is quite clean and relaxing if you are not claustrophobic. The three stars is because I do think my technician (who did no use gloves) was quite expert. Unlike others, I did not have to tell her there was as problem with primarily my back. She seemed to know to focus in on the parts that were a problem. She was quite strong, though not quite as strong as the guy in Chinatown who I go to in extreme cases. Overall, I came out very relaxed. Given the range of massages in the city, this puts them right in the middle, hence 3 stars. read more

This spa has some of the best services in the NYC area possible and let me not forget to mention the several products that I have been using currently and just couldn't live without. The products are by Nicole Contos. The light and oil free moisturizer is just fabulous, refining cleanser, C-stem 7 solutions serum but my favorite is the Mineral Sheer Tint with SPF 20. I introduced the Sheer Tint to my girlfriends and they are hooked. My husband uses several products on a daily basis also and loves them and finds that his acne has improved greatly since using them plus getting spa treatments done like facials and peels. The staff is so friendly and you get treated like family here. You will never be sorry so please come on in and try one of these fantastic treatments for the first time. You will be so happy you did.
