Wow just wow. I give Joe, Tony and team an 11 out of 10 for making our piano move so easy and stress free. We ran into a problem with our "move to" location and they gave us a few days to find a place to move it instead of leaving us high and dry. They kept it on the truck and brought it back a few days later. Who does that anymore?!!! Outstanding customer service and just a great group to work with. My daughter asked me to help her get estimates and set up getting a piano moved to her new house. Smooth Moves was, hands down, the best option of the 5 estimates I received. Their rates were reasonable. I had 1 online estimate for almost $500, and a verbal phone estimate for about $400. The owner was very professional and friendly. His experience was evident. The original owner of the piane reported to me that they were in/out of her condo in record time and raved about what a great job they did. The entryway into my daughter's new home is very tight and awkward yet they were able to navigate it cleanly without any glitches. I used to be a compulsive, "Hey! That's free so I need it," type of person and Craigslist was my preferred vice at that time. One day in particular I was feeding my freebie addiction and I came across a yard sale with free things and discounted treasures that a hoarder like myself could never live without. I went to the yardsale, and any good hoarder knows that the next best thing to free is cheap. Especially when it's something that you must have, but can also use. I walked into this old barn at a church in Millville, OH and found something that made my little heart go pitter patter. It was a baby grand piano. Now, I've never played the piano in my life, but I'm a dreamer and my mind portrayed a grand scheme of me learning to play and composing masterpieces so beautiful Beethoven would cry! Even though he was deaf he'd magically hear my playing from his grave and would be proud as my fingers mastered those ivories. Ok, so I'm also delusional, but I still know a good deal when I find one. I ran my fingers over those keys and came across the gritty piece of box tape with a price crudely written with a sharpie. "$50" Wait.. is that missing a 0? No, it was not and I became the proud owner of a baby grand piano that day. I walked out of there to my Chevy Cavalier and realized.... I had no way to get this bargain home. How could I make Beethoven proud from a dusty barn? I told the yard sale guy I'd figure it out in the next day and would be back to pick up my treasure. I searched piano movers and came across this company. I gave them a call & they still made my bargain a deal that couldn't be beat. They moved my piano from Millville to Mt. Healthy. Not only did they move it that far, they had two sets of steps to carry that bad boy up. The treated my piano as if it were a baby and she was put back together with love. They couldn't believe I got such a great deal and even told me some things I could do to make the piano better. These guys were great in every way! I wish I had another piano just so I could do business with them again. If you are ever in a bind to move one, or just have one and need someone to tell you what it's worth these are your guys. In some cases they can refurbish your piano or even buy it from you if you don't know what to do with it. I know this isn't a huge business that people look for, but I would give these guys ten stars if it were possible. read more

My grandmother left an antique upright in her house after passing, which was a treasured family heirloom that was used and maintained every day for the past 100 years or so. After we gave up on moving it ourselves (for obvious reasons!), on a Sunday afternoon I first phoned another piano mover (by luck of the alphabetical draw) and left a message. My second call was to Smooth Moves, and Joe answered the phone. I've been in the service industry a long time, and I have to say that I can tell when someone has a genuine grasp on the concept of how to do business and how to present yourself and your company: Joe nailed it. It was absolutely clear that he was knowledgeable, courteous, has done this a million times, and understood how to treat every single customer as if it's your only customer. It's something that I try to do in my own company, and it is extremely rewarding to do business with someone who "gets it." I called out of the blue on a Sunday, they scheduled the move for the following Tuesday, worked their gravity-defying magic and did a fantastic job. The reason I'm writing this review is that frankly, the service that Smooth Moves provided is not something that can't be done by other companies. Hire some guys, pack up heavy fragile object, put on truck, deliver heavy fragile object. As with any specialized service, if they're in business they have to perform; if a plumber couldn't plumb, you wouldn't pay them, and they'd go bankrupt. Moving my particular heavy object and getting it across town in one piece, while they did it and performed the task perfectly, is not terribly impressive. What matters in this scenario - to me - is their professionalism and customer service. No BS, no one trying to sell ridiculous upgrades (finish protectors or insurance or rustproofing etc). They understood from the minute they picked up the phone, how to make me trust them with my business, and trust them with my irreplaceable piano; at every step along the way, they came through. Does anyone actually buy a piano anymore? I'm pretty sure everyone is just using an old piano they got for free from their neighbor or friend of a friend. If you find yourself the new owner of an old piano, please do NOT try to move it yourself. The older pianos seem to have been made of iron and will smash you if given half a chance. I had at least 6 college kids (me included at the time) trying to move my antique upright. Several almost died in the struggle to try to get it out of the basement. Once we gave in and went back to the truck, I realized how foolish I was to think that we would be able to get it, not just up the stairs, but then lift it 3 feet STRAIGHT UP onto the tailgate of the truck. Stupid college kids! Smooth Moves has the right tools and a ton of experience to get the job done quickly and professionally. As a college student I moved several times, and Smooth Moves was there each and every time. After the second move in two years, they started to give me a discount, because they could see I was going to be a frequent customer. We saw each other so often that they still remember me to this day, and I haven't moved in 6 years! I've given them several challenges over the years, but they've never said "no" and will always do everything they can to make it work. I love those guys, and you will NOT be disappointed. Oh, and if you STILL aren't convinced, maybe this will convince you. University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music uses them to move their pianos. If they can trust them, then so can you! read more

Very reasonable rates! They were on time and did a great job. My roommate and I had cumbersome couch we wanted to throw away. We are both small women so we weren't sure we could do it. The owner offered to have his guys take it out for us free of charge while they were there getting the piano. Nice local company to work with. read more

Emailed to get a quote, which was just about what I had anticipated spending. I set up an appointment through email, but when the day came, the guy I was emailing had forgotten to add it to the calendar. He was extremely apologetic and gave me a discount. He also got his team to complete my move right away. The movers were efficient and polite. In the end, I would go with them again, but I would probably also confirm my appointment with them a day or two before the scheduled date. read more

My wife met them at the old house and had them follow her to the new one. My wife is a small woman and English is her second language, but she assured me the movers were polite, accommodating, friendly, and fast.
