I talked to the owner and he told me he would help me move literally 2 streets over. He told me that he would be arriving multiple times and then he never showed up and failed to tell me he wasn't going to show up. My family and I moved almost everything and all we needed him to move was a bed frame, queen sized mattress, and a futon. It wouldn't have taken more than 30 minutes to do yet he completely ghosted me after telling me he would be arriving all day. read more

My family has used Steve three times this summer to move for us. He and his crew are all honest and personable hard workers. They treated us and our belongings with utmost respect. He has great ideas about packing and storage. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is that they lack a bit on punctuality. I will hire them again should the need arise. read more

We needed to move our daughter's furniture from storage to her 3rd floor apartment in Blacksburg and Smooth Moves gave us a very reasonable quote and did a great job with h the move! Being a big weekend for back to school moves they were delayed a little but kept in touch and then despite the very warm temperatures, were quick and efficient getting things done. My daughter used this company, she is too nice to leave a review. Quoted time for arrival was supposed to be 10-11 a.m., they didn't not arrive until 6 p.m. One woman and one man to move furniture and boxes from a two bedroom apartment in Radford to a storage facility in Blacksburg. Needless to say it was close to midnight when everything was done, already found another moving company to have her belongs moved in July. Hopefully it's a professional moving company as advertised, not some me and my buddy last minute help me please moving company. Smooth Moves helped my mother move several pieces of heavy furniture, took away the furniture she wanted to get rid of, and picked up and delivered a bookshelf she purchased from a store in Christiansburg. The people who came (I believe the women's name was Heather?) were prompt, conscientious (they were careful not to scuff any walls or furniture) and all around very pleasant. My mom was extremely happy with the work they did and plans to use their services again in the future. read more

Beware!!!!! We are waiting now since 2 days that they will show up for a long distance move to Florida. Yesterday after 3 hours waiting and trying to call and text him, we received a text message (no phone call!), that he had the day BEFORE an accident with his towing truck and he is waiting for his insurance to call back. He will be in touch soon. 6!!! hours later in the eving after a lot off trys to reach him, we got a text, the insurance is not cooperating and he will be in touch in the morning. That was the last time we ever hear from him. Sitting here shortly before Christmas with our life in boxes and have to figure out how to get to Florida! Don't be fooled!!! No "business ethic." These people don't even own their own moving vehicle! Their name conjurs an old Exlax commercial, which is fitting, because I equate this company to the diarrhea it is!!! It all seemed legit in talking days prior. We talked, i listed items, sent pictures gave dates and times. He agreed. Moving day came. Over 2 hours late. Ignores my texts. Then gave another time and was late for that. Sat down and smoked every 5 minutes. Played on phone. New apartment has 6pm deadline to move in, as discussed. They did not care. Left after midnight!!! Left in the middle of it to "go eat" (they texted after they left instead of telling me to my face...gone over an hour...came back and seemed to be thriving on massive energy that was not there before....take that for exactly what it sounds like) they ignored my call when i was worried they just took my stuff and ran...they literally asked me to help them move several items. Damaged a LOT of things; very careless. Then, when it all went over 6 to 8 hours past when they said it would the guy asked for MORE money than agreed to!!! Ha! I clearly told him no and stated these facts. He started to be argumentative, but left, only to wait outside my new home and throw trash on the porch and honk the horn several times (almost one in the morning!). THEN i get a text at 1:30AM. (Btw, we are a white and Chinese gay married couple) sooo hes an obvious bigot. HERE IT IS, his own text. Always a pleasure to go above and beyond the call of duty for someone who appreciates what you have done for them. It's not like you or your special friend could have done it...right? Hello, I would like to respond to Denise K.'s review (this is her daughter "Keisha"). First off, my name is not Keisha but that is neither here nor there. Contrary to Heather's response, I actually called this company back in early March to schedule a move for May 20th (my "Yelp request" should time stamp my first contact with the company and I have the calls listed in my phone). At that time, I was told the movers would be there between 11am/12pm. I contacted them again two days before the move to confirm everything and was told they might be able to get to my home earlier (between 10am/11am). On moving day, the owner contacted me stating they would be at my home around noon which they were not and in fact did not get there until around 6pm. I was in contact with him a couple of times throughout the afternoon where he literally told me he would be there "soon" or "in 20mins" but like I said they didn't get there until close to 6pm. Personality-wise they were both nice people and I was fairly impressed with how quickly the lady moved as she took my stuff out to the truck. However, I did notice after recently visiting my storage unit that my microwave was broken so I am a little disappointed about that. Bottom line, I made a request for moving in advance and tried to confirm it later. While I understand that sometimes movers fall behind, but I would have appreciated a better ETA as I took off an entire day of work for nothing. This was the WORST experience I have ever had with a moving company. They showed up 2 hours late and did not let us know until they already should have been there. We had already loaded over half of the stuff prior to them arriving since I had a deadline I had to be out by. When they finally arrived they finished loading our trailer which took 35 minutes instead of the original agreed upon 2 hours since we had done most of the work for them. After offering to pay them half the agreed upon money since they spent 1/4 of the original time we agreed upon the owner of the company took a very demeaning tone with me and gave me the middle finger as he flew off down our street. I have never been so appalled by a company. As a customer service business I expect the movers I hire to treat me with much more respect than I received from the owner of this business. I would not recommend anyone using this company. read more
