    Butter cauliflower poutine

So many varieties of poutine! There is limited dining space, 80's big hair rock bands playing on the TV, and a lack of air conditioning. BUT I appreciate the menu choices. I would say if you are very hungry, go with the regular/medium size. Not so hungry? Go with a small. The large is more for if you wanna split it with someone or people with bottomless stomaches. The bacon poutine comes piled high with bacon, oh my! They are generous with the gravy and the cheese curds. We also tried the butter chicken poutine. The butter chicken sauce was just ok, as I have had better. But otherwise, it is a lot of food for pretty cheap.

So I used to LOVE Smoke's poutine. Like 10+ years ago. It was great for after the clubs back then. We wanted poutine and apparently we've been on a nostalgic kick of visiting our early 20s spots. The poutine itself was delicious but it definitely made me sick. I had diarrhea for the next week. My first sign should've been that when we walked in, it smelled so stale and mouldy that we didn't want to sit down to eat so we took our food back to the mall. It took awhile for us to get our food but staff were really nice.

This place is always spot on. I order through DoorDash to pick up every time. Got to meet the store manager last time, what a nice lady! Food is always perfect as ordered and oh my god so good. I usually get a DIY poutine cause I like weird toppings, but we've also tried the dumpling poutine and chicken Diablo? Always love our poutines and the cute stickers! Oh and side of perogies are always a good idea, yum!

    OHHHHH CANADA!!!

It was our first meal in Canada. We were so excited to try the poutine. There were so many options that we thought we can probably come here everyday during our stay and get different flavors everyday. We decided to get OHHHHH CANADA - well, that sounds like a Canadian signature poutine. It was soooooo good!!! It is definitely a comfort food, all that fries with cheese curd and gravy can heal everything, no? It does not look very appetizing to be honest, but who cares when you want to let yourself go and just have fun eating some bad food lol...

Delicious poutine. Good portions and variety. I got the vegetarian. Heavy and curds are shook much better on fries than ketchup.

I often feel like this place gets a bad deal on the negative reviews. As someone who used to keep an area poutine blog, I know I should have a better reason for giving it four stars, but -- I just inexplicably like everything about this place and the people who run it. The poutine is very good, though it does fall short somewhat of being great. The restaurant itself is tiny (don't bring your family of eight -- five of you will be hanging out in the kitchen), but the few times I've been I've managed to find a perch. The staff is fun, lively, and happy to tell stories of Smoke himself. Mostly, I think I just love that downtown Ottawa finally got a a poutinerie -- a place unashamedly dedicated to the making and selling of our national pride and joy. I hope they keep doing what they're doing for decades to come.

After spending two+ months in Canada, I can say that Smoke's has the best poutine I've had yet. But I haven't yet really developed a taste for the Canadian delicacy, and the ones I've tried before have been less-than-mediocre. Pulled pork poutine is definitely the one to get. The peppercorn chicken poutine also sounded tasty, but I found the sauce to be both very bland and intensely peppercorny at the same time. There are still many many more poutine combinations that I have yet to try, though!

Wasn't too hungry so I got the snack size traditional poutine. Very delicious! Nice golden fries, yummy cheese curds and gravy sauce that wasn't too thick! I didn't feel greasy and gross after. They have a very wide variety of poutines and sizes. Atmosphere is nice :) loud old rock music playing. Tables were kept clean and had service with a smile

WOW! The combo looks and sounds like a mess but it taste heavenly. I'm not a vegetarian but their Veggie Deluxe Poutine was delicious! So yummy that I crave for it the next day. But please don't eat this everyday, you will put on pounds! :-)

I went here with my brother to get some fries, pogos (aka corn dogs, I hadn't realized that "pogo"…read moreis an exclusively Canadian term until my American friend, Karen K, pointed it out to me, lol) and hot dogs for my little nieces. I have never had a pogo in my life and have no inclinations to change that. I also don't like hot dogs, so all I tried were the fries and they were great. The fries were a bit sweet (from the type of potatoes they use) and they tasted fresh and not from frozen. I liked the texture, they were not mealy. I like that they are unsalted. I think a large was like $6 or something like that. Pogos and hotdogs are $0.99 each. My older niece who is a picky eater and had never had a pogo before, took one bite and proclaimed "I LOVE POGOS!" Lol. She ate one and a half pogos, which is a lot for her. The breading looked crispy. The hotdogs were tiny and they were steamed. The nieces rejected them so my brother and dad ended up eating them. The place is really popular; we had to stand in line for a long time. Decor is old school diner-like. It reminds me of those casse-croutes that are ubiquitous in Montreal like La Belle Province, Lafleur Restaurants, and Green Stop. Most food here is greasy and fried. If you're trying to eat healthy this is not the place to go. It's not my kind of place, but for what it is, I think it's good. It's in a plaza, so lots of free parking.

I was looking forward to trying this based on the reviews and was disappointed. Ordered the poutine…read moreand it just was underwhelming. The gravy didn't have much flavour wasn't warm enough, so the cheese barely melted. It just kind of sat there and was a bit congealed. Fries were nothing the write home about either. I was expecting a lot better based on the reviews. Maybe it was an off day who knows. The inside needs some updating, as it's kind of dark inside, they barely had any lights on.
