I got a smog test there and a month later got a dmv notice saying that I didn't get one. I passed the smog test at smog n run but they didn't bother to send the results to the dmv. Now I'm trying to resolve it but they closed the shop near me and my truck is still late in getting tags. I called and went to many places this morning, I was told everything from not sure when they will arrive, The guy is on vacation, not sure of the schedule today. Lot of run around. I pulled into smog and run just before he opened. When he opened he had me pull in and he was done in no time. I have an out of state vehicle so he told me I will need a vehicle vin identification done at DMV across the street. He showed me where to go. I pull across the street to DMV , the guy came out and did it. I had everything done in less than a half hour. He was so helpful and probably saved me a lot of time. I can't really review the services offered, I can only say that the hours listed here differ from those posted on the front of their building (see attached photo), and when I turned up yesterday morning (June 18), the place was empty and still closed up tight when I left at about 9:20 am -- and when I drove by again at about 10:00 am. I understand that things happen, but it would be helpful if the business owner was able to put a note on the door or otherwise give some indication that they aren't able to open for some reason. read more

I went here to have my Truck smoged. They were able to fit me in last minute and right before closing. They let me know that my truck would not pass, explained exactly why, and charged me nothing. The gentleman spent at least 15 minutes on my truck and explaining what was wrong. I was very thankful for the advice, they totally could have charged me if they wanted - but they did not. Told the technician I had just replaced the battery. Smog N Run tested the car, charged me $108 and the car failed. Apparently all cars fail immediately after battery replacement. This was taking my money for nothing and the technician knew it. read more

Went there for a STAR station smog test. They got me in and done very quickly even though I forgot my paperwork. Unfortunately, the bar code on my car was damaged and the machine reader recorded one digit of the VIN incorrectly. Never noticed at the time (who expects to check a 16 digit bar code for accuracy?) Since the DMV couldn't match the VIN to my car I had to go back down for a recheck. They quickly and graciously redid the test at their expense, including paying out of pocket for a new DMV certificate. I think the true measure of a place is what they do when something goes wrong. This shop is a disgrace and should not be allowed to continue it's DMV certification. I went there 2 years ago to have my 2014 Outback smogged with a groupon. When done they refused to honor the groupon claiming that it did not cover my Suburu outback which they insisted was listed as a "Truck" and trucks are not included for the discount. I told them that not only does the groupon site not mention any such exclusion but more pertinent was that in no way is a Subaru outback a "truck" in any sense of the word. On my renewal notice it shows it as "SW" for station wagon. When I objected to the guy's assertion he flexed his muscles and got in my face in a threatening manner. Needless to say, I tell anyone who will listen, don't go near this shop. !!!! read more

Smog tech did a visual and informed me that he would not pass me due to a 'modified' part. This part is CARB approved and has the sticker attached to prove it, in addition to the attestation in the CA Air Resource Board database that it is approved. Maybe there is a lack of training with the technicians this business employees. On the good side, he told me before he failed me on his *false* observation before taking my money. I went to a different Smog Check station and they passed me without any issues. Just go to the Chevron on Blossom Hill and Los Gatos Blvd and avoid this place. I needed a smog check and I found this spot on Google maps. Through their website was able to get 20% off the price. There was not any other customer when I got there, which was about 1pm on the weekday. They guy was very nice to me, looked at my discount coupon in my phone and ran the smog test. This place is a major rip-off! I've used them many times in the past, but went again recently and was told the cost for my vehicle would be $100+. After being told by the technician that Cal State fees had increased significantly for all certified smog services - and that the fee he quoted was now the going rate in the area, I decided to move forward with the service because I was pressed for time - only to find out later that the gas station two blocks away charges $60 for the same type of vehicle. Also, it appears this shop is on its way out and will not be in business much longer. Much of the equipment is old and obsolete, and cannot be used for testing newer vehicles with different requirements. read more
