I have seen vast improvement in my 8 year old son's level of self control and respect since starting karate about 3 months ago. Ms. Driver and Mr. Ryan truly care about you and your children and have a genuine passion for karate and the values it provides. I wouldn't trade these guys for any other dojo around! If you are thinking of trying it out either for yourself or your child, they usually have some kind of trial promotion. That is what we did for my 8 year old son and ended up falling in love with it and enrolled my 4 year old daughter as well! If you come here, you will not be disappointed! We love the main location too, we attend it sometimes on Saturday mornings for make up classes or booster classes but, in my opinion, it doesn't compare to the awesomeness and tight-knit group/family feel that the Harmony Square location has! We love you Harmony Square BMK!

I don't know why park staff in Virginia keep building disc golf as no one really plays this sport and it spoils the nature trails. You can hear noise such as back up sounds from trucks while in the park from businesses outside the park. Entrance is strange and can be missed if you unfamiliar with the park. There is a recycling center near the entrance.

They are the crown jewel of Sporting Clay courses of the many I have seen. Attending tournaments all around Va. when you talk with other shooters, Shenandale always comes up. Comments are always about how terrific the views are, how clean the entire facility is kept and, of course, how special the shots are. Most of us are accustomed to relatively flat properties presenting all their best trap settings. Shenandale can compliment that by having you on a stand leaning over to shoot a clay moving well below you OR coming from high above you. Fantastic is a simple word for my opinion of Shenandale.

First off it has to be the most beautiful setting I have ever had the pleasure of shooting around. From the meticulous grooming of the skeet and trap fields to the landscaping around the sporting course it was simply beautiful. The people that ran the operation were extremely friendly and accommodating. If you are thinking of attending an event here it would be well worth your time !! I can't wait to return!!!!!!

Almost immediately, both their teachers and I noticed dramatic improvements in their behavior. Prior to karate, they couldn't focus on tasks and often got in trouble for impulsively acting out. There was a dramatic improvement right away, and I still continue to see improvements with focus, week after week (now just over 4 months in). The focus and respect that they have learned has really allowed our family to spend more time enjoying each other and less time focusing on behavior correction. I can't thank the Brian Mayes team enough!! For the last month, I've been taking the adult kickboxing class here. It's really fun, motivating, and I can already see a change in how my clothes fit me. I leave each class feeling (sweaty and) great. I was hesitant about signing up for a 3x/week class, but I find myself wanting to go each time. I can't say I feel the same way about my home gym equipment. These instructors keep me moving and keep me wanting more. I love it.

Asked about renting weapons and he immediately said "I can't rent to you," which kind of took us aback. We asked why - he said he doesn't rent to anyone under 21 - but he didn't even ask how old we were. Once I tried to explain I was over 21, he said it didn't matter because they don't rent weapons except to take a class (it's 3 hours and $75). I looked on some gun forums before going here but evidently they were a bit dated because this range NO longer rents weapons. This was a last minute side-trip for us or otherwise we would've brought our own. (I'll also mention that they don't allow anything that fires over 2k fps nor do they allow 5-7's in case anyone is interested). My dad chatted him up and the guy seemed to back down a little once he realized my father knew a bit about weapons - but he never once tried to speak to my sister or me or even make eye contact. Gun safety is no joke - but you shouldn't treat every stranger that comes into your facility like a felon or incompetent yuppie - and based on the fact that he never acknowledged me/my sister, I'd saying being female won't win you any brownie points. Other than the staff - the facility seems a bit dated (it's 26 years old) but sufficient. You MUST purchase your targets there - they have a decent selection and the prices are really reasonable. Some ammo is available for purchase but they are feeling the current shortage just like everyone else and had a limited amount. They also have earplugs and eyewear for purchase; nothing is included in the range fee other than the range, so bring your own everything.
