I was immediately impressed with Dr. Herre's knowledge of TMJ. He also teaches other dentist how to treat this condition so I would consider him an expert. Dr. Herre made me a bite splint and at first, I will be honest, the expense was really hard to swallow. However, when you consider that the hour long follow up visits (all included) for weeks and weeks afterwards, it really makes the cost more understandable. Anyway, I have had my bite splint for 5 weeks now and the proof is in the pudding. I went from someone who spent probably 10 days a month in bed with migraines to being nearly headache free. Before I also had other symptoms like not being able to chew foods, ear pain, facial pain and all of it has disappeared. My husband is thrilled that I'm not tired all the time anymore. I cannot say how pleased I am with the results so far.

Over the years I have gotten sealants, fillings and broken teeth removed on top of my regular visits and I have always felt at ease. I am never intimidated and as Dr. Scott will tell you, I never cried! It's a nice treat to go to what is usually a dreaded experience and actually sort of enjoy myself and feel cared for.

I've had braces as child. I had them on for almost 5 years. That was close to 20 years ago. As a 36…read moreyear old female, my teeth had shifted a bit and a small gap had opened up in the very front on the top arch. It was very obvious! I had an awesome smile for 20 years and couldn't imagine going through the rest of my life with a gap in the very front. With that thought, I decided to get braces again. Or so I thought... I had called around to at least 10 orthodontics office's in the Kansas City Metropolitan area and I had gone into more than several for consultations. I figured I'd need braces on the 6 teeth in the front. EVERY SINGLE ORTHO I called and went into for a consult, I was informed that they wouldn't do just the top arch. This meant that every Ortho wanted to put a full set of braces on even though the bottom arch didn't need them, but they refused to do just the top. As soon as I was given that information the appointment or phone call was over. There was no way I'd spend that kind of money on something I didn't need. I received estimates for a full set of braces at all of these businesses before leaving their office. The most I was quoted was $6,100.00 and the least was $3,400.00. The least amount was even for Invisiline Express. It blew my mind that a supposed "reputable" company would take advantage of a possible future patient like that. So, I kept calling around to get quotes, right? I came across an Orthodontics office called Hannah Orthodontics located in Shawnee, Kansas. I was excited after I called them for the first time. They informed me that they offered several solutions for individuals who had braces as a child but needed help as an adult. I made an appointment for the next day. Their office was clean, the staff was soooo kind & informative and the office had just been remodeled. I went through the appointment expecting to shell out about $2,000.00 for braces and another year of my life in braces. Dr. Hannah came into the exam room, looked at the x-rays and did an exam. He then informed me that it'd take about 6 months and ONLY cost $300.00. He recognized my top arch was the only thing that needed work and here's the best part... He could shift my teeth back into place using the traditional retainer!! I was so floored with that information that I started to tear up a bit. It's a bit embarrassing, I know, but to find an Ortho who wasn't in the business to take advantage of a patient was incredible! So, in the end, it cost me $300.00 and that includes the office visits I need to go back for so they can adjust the retainer. I'm now in a top retainer and my gap has started to close a month into wearing them. I would go to this business over and over and will recommend it to anyone looking for a great smile. This sealed the deal for us because without retainer use your teeth will move over time . Recently, Fry changed their policy where you pay an ADDITIONAL $795 for retainers and each set will cost you an additional $50 (retainers typically last about a year). They are allowing their previous patients to drive to remote offices and still get their free retainers, but it is extremely disappointing that Fry is make by the deal they offered extremely difficult to fulfill unless you continue to pay more into your investment. My feedback is if you make a promise, fulfill it without screwing your customers.

I say comfortable because my teeth were straight enough but over the years my lower front teeth were moving and achy. I also had jaw issues that I thought I just had to live with. A place that serves children under 12 who cannot be vaccinated should be ashamed of themselves for not following recommendations and protecting their younger clients. It is both the CDC and American Academy of Pediatric's recommendation at this point to require masks indoors, even for vaccinated individuals due to the prevalence of the Delta variants at the time this was written.

I had a free consultation, and Whitney, the treatment coordinator was super nice. I felt like I had known her forever, and she made sure to explain everything to me and answer any questions I had. At some point during this consultation, Dr. Oltjen came in to meet me. He thoroughly explained the process for Invisalign as well as Ceramic braces. He also gave (what I felt like) was an honest opinion about which treatment I should get based on my case. Also, this is one of the few offices who don't charge extra money for Invisalign (yess, that's a PLUS!) The only downside I had was the price. Yes, orthodontic work is expensive anyway, but this office was significantly more expensive than other offices. However, I really wouldn't mind paying extra ...their service was just that good!

They set me up with the 3M version of Invisalign. It's the same thing, so the product is exactly what you'd imagine. It's the staff and precision operations that I really love. Everyone is nice, efficient and highly competent. I have never been to a medical or dental office that runs so well. I've been to the office at least a half-dozen times and I can say with confidence that I haven't waited more than 10 minutes collectively. That means a lot--we all have responsibilities, and sitting at an office doing nothing is infuriating. That doesn't happen here! You can tell that Dr. Oltjen and his team watch every aspect of this office's operations so they can make improvements continuously. Though they are always on schedule and get you out of there promptly, you never feel rushed. I appreciate that they use technology to their advantage. You can get reminders via email or text. During the pandemic. They have sent a little survey a day or two before. They ask about your health, travel, etc. to ensure everyone stays safe. I'm very pleased with the results, too. It's crazy that little hunks of plastic can move your teeth. Wearing them really isn't a big hassle, and it has been well worth the time and the cost. Dr. Oltjen is a perfectionist and isn't that what you want from an orthodontist?!
