We called Smith Handyman Service to repair the wire rack in the main bedroom closet that had fallen off the wall. It was installed incorrectly initially and Ryan made sure that the repaired item would last and not need attention again! What we found with Smith is that we got punctual service, for less than the estimate, and the fix is perfect. Ryan H. our serviceman, was fast, friendly, and knew his stuff!! I hired this company to assemble an elliptical machine. The technician assembled it incorrectly, causing the bolt shown in the picture to strip and one side of the machine to break. It is now unusable. The only thing this company has offered to do is charge me more money (with no guarantee of actually fixing the machine). A terrible and costly experience all around. read more

Riley and Kurt recently did extensive repair work for us on a shower. The project involved the preparation of walls and area of the floor for replacement of ceramic tile on the walls and floor, and installation of a corner shower. What we thought was going to be a simple plumbing project became much more complicated. Two additional workers were involved for the replacement of the tile. They, like Riley and Kurt, were extremely competent and professional. Not only was the work well done, the pathway to the bathroom, the bathroom itself was left very clean at the end of each day and upon completion of the project. I had great hopes for this company, as a source for high quality residential repair services. I have a lot of projects that need to be done at my house and I thought Smith Handyman would be my "go to". Unfortunately, the first job I contracted with them to do was ineptly done with poor cosmetic results. I had 12 rows of decking replaced, 146 Sq feet. The original decking contained one 16 foot board in each row. The replaced deck did not have any board longer than ten feet, which gives the deck a very chopped up appearance. Additionally, some joints, between the cut ends are not plumb. In a many places the stapled paper tags that were on the wood when purchased were not removed, and are now in between the joints. At the stairs the cut ends of some of the boards are not cut on the correct angle. There is a gap between some boards and the exterior wall. One board that was to remain was cut into at two places with a saw while removing the board next to it. One new board had a broken edge along its length, but was used anyway. Before the repairs were begun, I tried to anticipate anything that might be a consideration in what was to be done. Would they remove the old materials? What type of planks would they use? It never occurred to me to ask if they would use the same length boards. This should have been stated before hand, that they would be installing shorter boards, than the originals I also dislike learning that the job is finished by getting a text message requesting payment. I was at home. I would like to have had someone who was working at my house to call me over to look at the job, explain what had been done and see if I had any questions. I was impressed with the owner and thought him very knowledgeable and conscientious. Unfortunately he was not the one who came to do the work. Perhaps this company does great work in other aspects of home repair. However, I can not recommend Smith Handyman for deck work. I did send an email explaining my disappointment about the use of shorter boards without receiving a response. I have many photos, but could not find a way of adding them to my review. read more

Caught one of their employees trying to hop my fence and come in my backyard while I was sitting in my backyard. I confronted her and her reasoning was bc I didn't answer my doorbell and that another employee had left "metal" in my backyard and then proceeded to be very aggressive with me after I told her what she did was not ok. The other employee who put the metal in our backyard actually did break in to place it in there. You can not get through our fence from the outside unless you jump it, use something to break open the lock, or someone lets you in. Luckily we have 2 cameras that have recorded her and also another video of the other employee who actually did break in our fence while we weren't at home. This was all over them having the wrong address, we never even hired these people! Contacted the owner and he said he would "look into it". Beware. read more

DO NOT USE! They have different crews of workers they send to each job. The crew they sent to our house did not know what they were doing! In March 2021, we hired Smith Handyman Service to install new wood stairs in our home. We ordered the stair tread materials and paid almost $3000.00 for them. The 2 men that were sent to our house cut the stair treads the wrong length and installed them with them being too long and leaving a gap. They look terrible. We are having to order new stair treads at another $3000.00 then pay someone to rip out what they did and start over. We are having to pay for the extra labor to rip out what Smith Handyman Service did before they can start on correctly installing the new stair treads. Smith Handyman Service expects us to pay them $1800.00 for the labor of their workers incorrectly installing our stair treads and ruining our materials. read more

For that amount, our gutters were PARTIALLY cleaned...not the full front gutter and two small porch gutters We had previously obtained an estimate that included realigning two gutters and repairing a small hole in one. None of that work had even been started AND they would even charge for the time to go to Lowe's and obtain a new downspout. The work could easily have run into the 800.00's. Two years ago, we had the gutter totally cleaned by a company for $150.00. This company is NOT a bargain and do not think their estimate is in any way accurate. This company charges $164.00 per hour plus a service fee. Very disappointed. read more
