It seems to have a little bit of everything and to top it all it is a family run business that has been there for years and years. The customer service is very good and the staff are extremely knowledgable and the best thing is it reminds me a little bit of the shop in 'Open all hours'. Would definatley recommend.

Mostly they have been able to supply the item, and when not, been very helpful in suggesting alternative places that may stock it. We have also bought several plants from them. Quality is better than a discount store, and range of useful items is about as good. Moreover, service is friendly and very competent.

The shop has a huge range of household products, things that you wouldnt find anywhere else and wouldnt begin to know where to look for them if Robert Dyas didnt exist! A bit like an old-fashioned hardware store. And their range of cupcake-themed products is brilliant, a wide selection and the most reasonably priced!

I was very surprised the first time that I shopped there because I assumed that it would be a bit more expensive than the likes of B&Q. This was not the case; for many items they are cheaper. What keeps me loyal to this shop is the friendliness and helpfulness of the owners. They give good advice and do not automatically steer customers to the most expensive options. This shop is off the beaten path but well worth a visit, especially during spring and autumn when they stock a lot of plants. It was a year before I ever entered this store after relocating to East Oxford; now I wish I hadn't waited that long - this place is a gem.

It doesn't look like much from Cowley Road but when you go in, there is a full-blown timber merchant with a large shop selling tools, ironmongery etc. They have a full wood machining workshop so can cut and plane to size and the prices are really good. The service is excellent too, this palce must be run very well. Don't go to a chain, this place is well worth checking out.

There are seasonal displays in the centre of the store, eg christmas things, outdoor furniture, sale items. This area often seems a bit tacky to me, a heap of stuff jumbled together. Prices always seem high compared to B & Q or Wilkinsons, even for the same things, eg Dulux paint. I find it a useful place to browse, but rarely buy anything there. (In the US, staff at these types of stores tend to be trained in their departments and tend to be a good source of information.) They have a relatively good range of things, though if you really need something specific, you should go to a real hardware store. I'm having my first experience with their ability to deliver an online-only order, and it has so far been completely negative. I ordered a cabinet online on 27 April and the scheduled delivery date was already quite late at 17 May. The people they use (PJH Group) had a break-down of the truck yesterday, the scheduled delivery date, and so couldn't complete the delivery. I had planned to stay home all day and wait, and did so - and they only notified me at 6 pm that they weren't going to be able to complete the delivery. Now, they have only been able to reschedule for more than a week later, 28 May, which is over a month after the original order date. I'm totally unimpressed with B&Q's ability to deliver their online-only goods - based on my one experience so far, and on an experience a friend of mine had with doors she ordered which took weeks and several failed delivery attempts to arrive. Obviously they need to find another delivery company, and I will be going to a competitor in future for any more online-only orders.
