We caught John as he was coming out of the vineyard, and he came in and gave us tastes of his current lineup. I was particularly impressed with the reds - the cab had hints of baking spice (which sort of reminded me of a zin) and the merlot had strong notes of vanilla and red fruit. These were very drinkable wines that could stand on their own, and they were excellent values in the low-to-mid $20s per bottle. John was a great storyteller and it was fun to pick his brain on their story and understand why they moved to the Yakima Valley. It was a really fun tasting. When I walked in, I did not expect to be walking out with 8 bottles of wine, but that's exactly what we did. They will be on our list the next time we visit Zillah. One last note - if you were a fan of Simcoe Creek, they've taken a hiatus while they raise their family. Located on the corner of 48th and Nob Hill, next door to her church, its easy place to get in and out of in the morning. Do be warned, that on the 15s of 45s of the hour in the morning the place tends to be very busy with people stopping before work. The place is drive-through only and has windows on both sides which makes things a little bit quicker. This got a nice selection of coffee and espresso drinks, as well as smoothies and dessert type options if that's what you're into! Prices lower than the big guys and ranged from ~ $2 for a 12 oz to around $4 for large beverages. Very friendly baristas were working and were very pleasant throughout the experience.
