Staff CONSTANTLY PUSH to have X-rays even though I have stated REPEATEDLY that I do not want to discuss X rays unless a concern or pain is present. They DON'T respect this. Once they did 3 different types of X-rays when my older minor child went alone to her appointment. They told her they were necessary, she believed them, trusted them. Once they did an X-ray on my other minor child without my consent- I was sitting in the waiting room. Tonight was the final straw- the staff member that called me said X-rays would be done at my upcoming appointment for the hygienist to do her job! That's a new one! They don't respect their patient's wishes. It's all about the money. Last week I showed up for my appointment and I hadn't even stepped into the room and the hygienist said ok we need to do 2 sets of X-rays! I ended up not having any treatment as they claimed I did not have any insurance. Called my provider and of course I did. It was something wrong on their end. My time was wasted because of their incompetence. They did not even apologize. It's all about money! Take your business elsewhere!

This year for the first time ever the bill I received from Sherwood Dental matched my insurance coverage to the penny.

Several years ago, while undergoing Invisalign adjustments, I recall the dentist making the comment, "I don't think you will ever be happy," which I found unprofessional and unnecessary. More recently, I attended a routine cleaning and scaling appointment. During the visit, the hygienist asked if I had any concerns, and I mentioned that I had recently had work done on a tooth by another dentist. She indicated she would have the dentist take a quick look. The dentist briefly checked the tooth and provided his opinion. At no point was I advised that this would result in an additional charge. However, when I went to pay, I was billed for an "Emergency Exam." When I questioned this, I was told, "I will let the girl know she should be advising you if there was to be a cost." I explained that I did not request or require an emergency exam and should not be charged for it. The response I received was, "Ok, but we will be flagging your file." This response was unprofessional and concerning. I indicated that due to this experience and the level of customer service, I would no longer be returning as a patient. The response I received was simply, "Ok, we will close your account." Overall, this was a very disappointing experience after many years as a patient. Charging patients for services without clear consent or communication is not acceptable, and the handling of the situation lacked professionalism. I am sharing this so others are aware and can make informed decisions. Do better, Aspen Trails.

My first experience with Dr. Jefferies was relaxing and easy going. For people who hate dentists, I suggest visiting Parkstone Dental in Sherwood Park. Dr. Jefferies will change your attitude and make you feel at ease when laying in the dentist chair. His clinic is amazing. The design and aesthetics also give you the relaxing feeling you desire. The support staff are also accommodating for those with jitters. But there is one aspect of Parkstone Dental and Dr. Jefferies that I really want to emphasize. He is fantastic with kids. Both my boys have seen him and had amazing experiences. He has a way of talking with children to make them feel at ease that you don't see many Dentists able to do. I think it's his great sense of humour and youthful personality that does the trick. I had an eye tooth (upper canine) that broke in half so I attempted to make an appointment with Dr. Ouchi but he was to busy to see me quickly, however, his wife Dr. Lisa Loeffelmann could. I was somewhat concerned to learn she only practices dentistry 3 half days a week and the room she worked on me in had Botox painted on the wall of her examining room, as well as her certificate to use Botox hanging on an adjacent wall. She removed the rest of my tooth and filled the hole, temporarily. The receptionist made me an appointment to return to have a crown put in. I was frozen when the root canal was completed and the crown put in. I didn't notice until I was unfrozen that there was a gap between the crown she fitted me with and the crown behind it. I went back to allow her to have a look at it and she insisted it was fine. I called the College of Dentistry and was instructed to get another dentist's opinion. I went to another unknown dentist and he confirmed that I was right...it was improperly positioned! Then I called the College again and they told me to notify her, myself, and if she didn't return the money the crown cost I could let them know and they would take things much further with her. I spoke with her on the phone and she seemed completely miffed because she had to pay me back...either that or perhaps deal with losing her licence to practice. For anyone who considers her a 5 star dentist you most certainly have not seen her incapacity!!!

Dr. L also discussed my treatment options with me, and I really felt that she was completely focused on what the best treatment would be. She was also very practical, and didn't waste time with temporary (or expensive) solutions that wouldn't help.
