The place filled up pretty quick after we got here. The food was as good as last time however, they took the burrito option off of the bowls The service was better this time. When I ask the manager, he stated that it's normal to wait and hour and twenty mins for wings. He then put his finger in the food to feel it. After we stated we would pay for our few beers and leave. He told us to leave and not come back and we were unreasonable to think food taking that long is wrong. He challenged us as our understanding of the restaurant business, me having over 10 years in far busier places. This was a horrible experience. In the Lakes Area you have mostly bar food and a few other options. Scores are adjusted relative to this area. The service, location, and food at Boji Boardwalk was great again this year. We've visited twice this year, having the giant Pork T last time and today, the Italian Beef Sandwich. This sandwich was crazy good. We've been watching The Bear on HULU, so we wanted to try this sandwich. It did not disappoint: tender, juicy, well blended with the peppers and provolone. The jalapenos added some nice heat, if you like heat. Between Bordwalk and Okoboji Store, these are the best restaurants this close to the water. The main difference is the Bordwalk is a better value for food price. Two sandwiches and two Diet Cokes, $36+ without tip. Okoboji Store was almost double for two salads and two diet cokes. If you're at Arnold's Park, or boating in, this is a great place to eat, drink and watch the lake. Great people watching. Inside has AC if you're looking to beat the heat or wath sports.

There really isn't a venue in the area with the cozy, intimate atmosphere that serves true craft cocktails and a creative menu of small bites and desserts, so The Revelry is a much-needed addition to Okoboji and Spirit Lake. Jason and Kim put their heart and souls into this business and it shows. Aside from the joy I get in supporting local, it's such a fun experience. I had already made my annual pilgrimage to West O the day before, and suggested something more to her liking - Wine. Since my last visit the Wine Bar and Art Gallery, the space has expanded into David Thoreson's Blue Water Studio. David actually owns the entire building and if you look behind the door in what I call the "Livingroom" addition, you'll see that his work space is alive and well. There's also an upstairs, but I have no idea what David has going on up there. As this is the 25th Anniversary of Blue Water Studios and the Wine Bar, all the art work on the walls is David Thoreson's, and what a stunning collection it is! Gayle and I hung out, enjoyed a couple glasses of wine, and wished we were here during the weekend to hear their live music offerings (played outside on the patio). Gayle and I were impressed with the wine selection, generous pours, and at a reasonable price, in addition to the comfortable space to enjoy them. And as much as I love West O, this was the right place for us to hang out and spend some time together.
