Good dentist, disorganized back office. This is a bill I recently received. Notice the date of the…read moreprocedure compared to the date insurance was billed--almost two years had passed before the Center for Advanced Dentistry billed my insurance. I suspected a problem when my insurance company alerted me that the provider had submitted a claim but did not provide all the documentation needed. I contacted the dentist office multiple times to ask them to resubmit the claim, and each time they said they would get to it soon. Fast forward years later and they finally appear to have gotten around to it. I had already changed dentists because I was uncomfortable with having to be in the role of encouraging a medical provider to bill insurance. This could be an inconvenience for some and a serious issue for others who can't afford an unexpected medical bill. Those who use FSA accounts to pay for medical bills have only a year to spend those funds before they expire, so postponing a bill this long could be costly. My experience with the dentists was positive; it's unfortunate I can't say the same about the back office.

Very happy and impressed the patient care and how the staff interact with their clientele! We were…read morereferred to this office for a tooth extraction for my younger sister. We tried other offices, but they were fully booked until SEPTEMBER. This office managed to squeeze us in for the following week for a consultation, where they addressed all of our questions and outlined the entire process from operation and recovery. We were able to come back the following for the extraction, so I was very happy with the quick turnaround and their ability to accommodate our schedules. Thank you to Dr. Khayat and his staff!

If you have dental anxiety or a true phobia of the dentist, DO NOT COME HERE…read more I knew I should have trusted my gut from the consultation. I left feeling like Dr. Khayat lacked bedside manner, but I brushed it off because I assumed many surgeons are more focused on the procedure than conversation. I regret ignoring that instinct. The day of my extraction, I was extremely anxious. I hadn't had a tooth pulled since I was a teenager, and I'm now in my 40s. The dental assistant was wonderful. She did her best to calm me down and explain what to expect. She is the only reason I'm giving one star. When the doctor walked into the room, he didn't introduce himself or ask how I was doing. He simply said, "I'm going to numb you," gave the injections ("1, 2, 3...shot"), and walked out. I understood that he needed to let the anesthetic take effect, and the assistant confirmed that. When he returned, he gave me more anesthetic then started the extraction. At no point did he explain what he was doing or check on me, even though I was obviously anxious and could feel my heart racing. I understand that extractions involve pressure and pulling. That wasn't the issue. The problem was that he was pulling so forcefully that my head and neck were being jerked to the side, and I finally had to stop the procedure to readjust myself. I was visibly grimacing, yet he never once asked if I was okay or needed a moment. The only thing he said during the procedure was, "The crown is off." Then my tooth broke, which I understand can happen, but again there was no communication about what was happening. At some point my gum was torn during the extraction. No one told me. I only realized it after he placed a stitch, and I had to ask the assistant what had happened to confirm why I needed sutures. When he finished, he simply said the stitch would dissolve in 7-10 days. He still never asked how I was feeling or whether I had any concerns. Before I left, I asked for an emergency phone number in case I had a problem after the procedure. He laughed and said, "You won't need a phone number." That response was incredibly dismissive. Every patient deserves to know how to reach their surgeon if they have concerns after surgery. I'm a healthcare professional myself, and I would never treat a patient the way I was treated that day. Technical skill is only one part of healthcare. Compassion, communication, and making an anxious patient feel safe matter just as much. If you're having IV sedation, your experience may be different. But if you're having a procedure while awake and you're looking for reassurance, communication, and good bedside manner, I cannot recommend this office. I wish I had listened to the other one- and two-star reviews before scheduling my procedure.

I had two lower wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Lee, about 1 week apart. I highly recommend Dr. Lee…read more Here's the rundown: For lower wisdom teeth extraction, there is always the risk of nerve damage. Dr. Lee has a lot of experience when it comes to evaluating this risk, and he uses surgical techniques to avoid nerve damage. That is the #1 reason why I recommend Dr. Lee for lower wisdom teeth removal. Typically, your dentist will x-ray the tooth, evaluate it, and refer you to Dr. Lee. Ask your dentist to email the x-ray to Dr. Lee. For both of my wisdom teeth, the dentist x-ray was sufficient; Dr. Lee did not need to take additional pano x-rays to evaluate the situation. Very convenient, and it avoids radiation. If your wisdom tooth is an "easy extraction" and not impacted, go for local anesthesia (Novocaine) instead of IV sedation. Dr Lee is great at injecting Novocaine and NOT hitting a nerve. During the extraction, you will not feel pain; you only feel pressure. You can drive yourself to/from the clinic, and there are fewer limitations on eating/drinking beforehand. It's also cheaper than IV sedation. During the extraction, for the lower wisdom teeth, they may use a hammer and chisel to crack the tooth into pieces before pulling out the roots; that is a little unnerving, but not a big deal. Dr Lee is fast; he extracted each tooth in about 7 minutes. Dr. Lee has an assistant in the operating room who is highly skilled; that person does quite a bit of the work (the aforementioned hammer/chisel). It is freezing cold in the operating room. Wear thick pants and a long sleeve shirt. They have a blood pressure cuff constantly checking your blood pressure, so avoid thick fleece/sweaters. For lower wisdom teeth, you'll need to irrigate the socket after eating, for up to 6 weeks; not a big deal, just be aware of it.

Healing and follow-up care went much better than I expected, especially since I'd been bracing for the worst. The only reason I'm not giving a full 5 stars is due to one frustrating interaction with the front desk. I had an 11:15 appointment and arrived at 11 to complete my forms. After sitting for about 45 minutes without any update, I overheard another front desk clerk explaining to other patients that the office was running behind. When I went to check in again, I was told the same--that there was a delay and longer-than-usual wait times. I had no issue with the delay itself. What bothered me was learning that the original clerk I'd checked in with at 11 already knew about the backup but never gave me a heads-up. In contrast, the second clerk was transparent and proactive with her updates, which I appreciated. There should be better consistency and communication across the front desk team to keep patients informed and prevent unnecessary confusion. Otherwise, a solid experience that exceeded expectations.
