To worsen the situation, she went in for teeth cleaning, only to be told that he was unable to perform the cleaning as it is not part of his job. She consented to a filling, but instead of filling her cavity this dentist administered an injection in her lip and merely 'cemented' 2 of her teeth together. She endured pain for 8 days and when we called the dentist for a discussion, he never returned our call. the receptionist claimed that they do not inject into lips suggesting that we were being dishonest. To make matters even more worse, 3 of her teeth fell out after this appt. I considered filing a complaint with the dental collage & even though they sent a form, my mother decided against it as she struggles to manage stress. The dentist charged the gov't and my mother an additional $200 for this procedure stating that not everything is covered. this clinic is driven by profit - they damage your teeth with the expectation that you will return for further treatment. Please be cautious, especially if you are a senior!

This was not the case. The hygienist was excellent and explained everything as she did things, let me watch Netflix on my iPhone, and asked if I needed breaks when I winced during the cleaning. Please don't let this last line deter you, the wincing is because I'm a wuss and again, deserved to be floss shamed. My new dentist, Dr. Walden was lovely, understanding, quick yet thorough and I definitely trust her with my smile. They're taking new patients, and if you have insurance they take the payment directly from your insurer which is mighty handy. Say cheese!

[gesturing vaguely to invisible problems on an Xray] Well, I'm sorry, but here's the list of 14 things that NEED to be done. You do have insurance, right?" This was so not my experience here. I explained that my insurance runs out in two weeks and I have a sore tooth, so they squeezed me in to a short-notice cancellation. Two points for them there. I arrived late (my bad - had the address wrong) but they still whisked me in fairly quickly, and everything was done quite efficiently. I've been going to older-fashioned dentists in Oakland, CA where the Xrays were still being done with that horrid cardboard stuff and put up on lightboxes, so the digital ones that went on the overhead TV were kinda cool. Nice to be at a 21st century office. Dr. Walden and the hygienist were both really, REALLY nice. They were friendly and helpful, explained what they were doing and what the jargon meant, and despite the fact that it's been about 18-20 months since I'd seen a dentist, were not patronizing or casting about for things to stick my insurance company on. Actually, Dr. Walden was quite complimentary on my oral hygiene - so many dentists are rude or patronizing about it. The only problem they did find made complete sense (the corner of a 30-year-old filling was broken off on the tooth that was sore - now I understand why the floss kept snapping!), and the receptionist offered to fit me in this afternoon to get it fixed. Like other reviewers have said, no one LIKES to go to the dentist, but when they make it an almost pleasant experience, you can dislike it so much less. Addendum: I'm back from having that filling fixed. I will admit that dental work and needles in my mouth terrify me - a previous experience with an awful dentist in California that left me unable to chew on the left side of my mouth for *three years* - and Dr. Walden was very, very considerate and careful dealing with an obviously extremely uncomfortable patient. She kept up a reassuring patter throughout, interrupting herself frequently to keep me in the loop about what she was doing, explaining, checking on me, at one point informing me that I might want to clench my hands just a wee bit less since one of my fingers was clearly losing circulation... I sent my neighbour to her recently, too. His assessment? "She rocks!" And how often, I ask you, does someone hear THAT about a dentist? I researched over…read morethe Internet and went to Dr. Waldman's office, desite a 20 minute drive from my downtown hotel. I was very professionally and quickly taken care of by a dental assistant. It was Dr. Waldman's day off. However, I learned a lot about their practice, and I was very impressed. Over the 10 years I continue to be more impressed and I have never let another dentist look in my mouth since. So compared to most I've had at least 20 visits over the 10 years and never a bad experience. Quite the opposite. I have given dozens of referrals to friends and business associates. I call Dr. Waldman the World's Best Dentist, and she really is in my opinion. She is totally up to date in technology and procedures. The freezing is fast. The office is always on time and I am fast in and out. What is quite impressive is that she can do a crown in an one hour and 40 minutes using a camera computer and a 3-D printer machine in the other room. No temporary, no second visit. Of that one hour and 40 minutes I get to go shopping for 40 minutes. The quality and fit of the crowns has been perfect and they have never broken. Neither of that is true compared to the crowns that she has had to replace because they have broken. In the spring of 2014, I had veneers put on my 4 front teeth. I've had trouble over the years because of damage from a bike accident when I was 16 years old. Since then all I get are compliments compliment compliments. Recently I had my teeth whitened and I've had some updates to that whitening and they look fantastic. I so much love smiling in my pictures again! Also, I swear I get 25 smiles back per day from the opposite gender just walking around downtown Toronto. But I digress. I do get my teeth cleaned in Vancouver between visits to Toronto. My hygienist always comments that she has to triple check that veneers or crowns from Dr. Waldman are not real. She keeps saying how excellent the work is and she's never seen anything like it. The support staff at her office always look after me and I can email to make appointments. They do everything to accommodate my schedule. Now, I have some of the reviews about her style perhaps not being touchy-feely. I've had touchy-feely dentists and guess what -- they screwed up my teeth. Now Dr. Waldman has to fix them. But even more than that I had to laugh. I have a best friend who I call the World's Best Surgeon. Pretty much all other doctors I have name dropped to agree. Guess what? The online reviews of Dr. Waldman are almost identical to that surgeon. One of my common jokes is, who do you want at the controls of the plane if there's a problem -- experience or intelligence (i.e. Sully)? If you are on the operating table and there is a problem who you want as a doctor -- experience or intelligence? The the correct answer is of course both. You want the most intelligent and most experienced doctor or pilot. This is what you want in your dentist. That is Dr. Waldman -- experience, intelligent, talented, and always keeping up-to-date with the latest techniques and technology. And let me reemphasize talent because that's something that is on top of experience and intelligence. I don't you work with less than a millimetre and get it perfect. Oh, if you need a hug, get a dog.

I am now paying again, to have a new set made as well as being in excruciating pain because of the damage done to my jawbone. The hygienist had given me tips to try to improve my home care which I appreciate a lot. He does unauthorized work and she is quite afraid of him after her experience. She when in for one problem and after her mouth was frozen he did lots of other things without even asking. When she asked what he did he just said it was necessary with no explanation. When she asked how much it cost it was well over $1000. When she said she didn't have that he tried to sign her up for "financing" for this and to get her signature she asked what the interest rate was at which time he said he could wreck her credit rating and she would never get any loans or a mortgage again. I transferred over the money to her and took her to my dentist who said only what she came in for was needed and that it should have only cost about $250 to $300 and not many times that.
