I do NOT recommend to anyone "Smile Doctors Braces". We had a horrible, torturing experience with Dr.Ebert, and Dr. Murray who bought the practice from her in May 2019. My daughter saw Dr. Murray three times and he was the one who decided that everything was fine, and Karla needed to have her braces taken off in July this year after 18 months of treatment. According to the initial interview with Dr. Donna Ebert, the treatment was supposed to last less than 12 months. In short there are still problems that need to be fixed, the upper teeth incorrectly rotated forward, apparently because the brackets were not positioned correctly to begin with. Our daughter is obviously not happy with her smile and this affected her emotionally. She calls her smile"gross". Even friends at her school asked her: "What happened to your smile?".
For over $5300 we expected a positive result, but It did not happen.
Right after her braces came off, we tried to make an appointment with Dr. Murray to discuss these issues, but we were told to wait 4 months. We waited, and we did not see any positive changes.
After 4 months we made the appointment with Dr. Murray and his staff. Trying to avoid situations like:"She said, he said, that is not true etc." I, the mother, recorded the full conversation on my cell phone. During the whole meeting we were treated by some of Dr. Murray's staff as if we were some sort of perpetrators. There were three ladies who were constantly acting as if they were "guarding us". Two of them Brook and Rebecca were constantly laughing loud, trying to be funny, but they were phony. They also asked all sorts of personal questions that we were not comfortable with. Multiple times I had to remind them that we came to this office to discuss the problems we discovered after their "ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT", and asked them to stop the personal questions. When Dr. Murray showed up, he looked at my daughter's teeth. I started to explain to him the concerns, problems that we discovered after visiting our general dentist. He said it is an "easy fix" to put the braces on again. My daughter refused the proposal on the basis that she lost trust in his practice, does not feel comfortable with the staff, all the pain that she went through during the whole treatment, lack of professionalism and lack of communication skills. At times the staff could not even make the adjustments and would ask Dr. Ebert for help. It looked like the staff needed more training. Also, the staff was rough handling the adjustments showing no caring. At times during these adjustments my daughter would start crying, and Dr. Ebert would tell us: "It is not as painful as she says it is". The staff handing out Advil at the end of the appointments tells you that there was pain involved.
During this appointment, Dr. Murray was trying to act as if we the parents requested to have the braces taken off before the problems were addressed. I denied his false statement, mentioning that we did not sign any paperwork for that purpose, and we requested to be reimbursed for the cost of the braces since he did not fulfill the contract that we paid for - over $5396. I even stated to him that we need to work with a different orthodontist since my daughter needs a second round of braces that would fix the problems. At this point he refused to communicate with us anymore, got up from his chair and told Brook: "I need you to call the police and have them removed". I followed Dr. Murray to his office while I was still recording my comments on my cell phone that Dr. Murray refuses to communicate with us and we will still continue to address these problems. At the end of my recording I stated: "We will go from here".
As a side note we requested a copy of the contract we signed with Dr. Ebert for the orthodontic treatment, and we were told by Adriane via email: "When patients paid in full with Dr. Ebert, as you did, she did not obtain a signed contract for those patients."
I requested Dr. Murray's office to be contacted by Dr. Ebert, and it has not happened yet.
It appears that the only way we can communicate with Smile Doctors Braces to address the problems is via legal action.
I hope that this review will help other people who need help, not problems. read more
