I did a thorough and intensive search for a printing company that was of good quality and reasonably priced to print my wedding invites. I stumbled upon Smartpress and after great reviews on Yelp and various wedding forums, I went with them and I am very happy with my decision. I first ordered their cardstock sample packet so I could see and feel all of their options. Once I figured out which cardstock I wanted to use (they have lots of great options in regards to weight and colors), I uploaded my design to the website and within a matter of hours, I had a pdf proof from Kathy in my email. Kathy made sure I knew exactly what I was getting before I approved the order and she was also quick to reply with all correspondences. A few days after I finalized my order, I ended up getting a coupon in my email and they were nice enough to apply the coupon credit even though my order was already in the mail. I just got my order in the mail today and I'm really happy with the quality and it is exactly how I wanted them to look. As a graphic designer and a business owner, I have never known another printing company that stands behind their work like SmartPress does. The printing is always professional quality (which is the thing you look for first and foremost), but often with high quality printers you also have high prices, slow turn around, and/or bad customer service. All of these things are top notch at SmartPress! I once had a banner shipped to me with a printer error (something that is very rare from them) and they re-printed and overnighted the new banner to me at no charge. I still had a few problems with my customer, but SmartPress did all they could to make it right and I appreciate that. I work with Jeff more than anyone else and he always makes sure that I have everything when I need it and that there is no guess work when it comes to quicker turnaround time or shipping upgrades. I can't say enough good things about this company! I'm getting married in August and decided to design my own invitations. I finally finished the designs for my invite, RSVP card and additional information cards. I knew I wanted a silver pearlescent paper so I searched online and happened upon SmartPress.com. These guys were great. I sent them the artwork, and used the 1 day expedited and within a few hours everything was ready to approve. Once I approved it, they got it printed quickly got it out the door and shipped it to me quickly. I had it in time for the event I needed it for and am extremely happy with the finished product. I didn't have enough time to ask for samples of paper to review, but the explanations on the website were accurate and what I received was what I expected. Prices were super reasonable and next time I need some printing hopefully I won't wait until the last minute and I'll be able to save even more on the expedite charges. I used them to print over a hundred programs for a conference that I put together. I was hesitant to use them, especially since I did not have time to get a hard copy proof, but if YOU follow their directions, your product will turn out fine. I was very pleased with the quality of the product and the customer service that I received during the review/proofing process. When I asked Kyle to make edits to my program, he was quick to do so, and he did exactly what I wanted him to do. The website also notifies you anytime there is an activity (proof available, shipping, etc), so you know what is going on. My programs were wonderful and arrived in perfect condition! I used Smartpress to print my self-designed Save the Date cards. Unlike some other online printing places, it was very straightforward and easy for me to figure out exactly what I was getting. I was picky about the paper, and Smartpress delivered (I went with the white linen). Customer service was great. I made an error in my original upload, and they caught it and had me fix it. The price was fantastic. I paid something like $35 for 125 cards (plus shipping). I would recommend paying the extra little bit for shrink wrapping, it helps to project the cards. I got mine shrink wrapped and everything arrived in perfect condition. read more

I've done several jobs with them, they do ok for business cards and small jobs. I've done a book with them which took a few tries to get it right (they overlooked the double-page splashes, leaving 1/2 the page out). Recently I tried to do another book and they were terrible. Lots of website issues (glitches for uploading), then lack of response to my Smartpress dashboard from their workers. In the time it took me to even get my files uploaded and reviewed the 3rd time to Smartpress I had two printed proofs done by another company (three weeks time). In the last round they didn't even respond! I think they were tired of the problems with my job and just ignored me. I had to get a refund on my job. What a waste of time. read more

Did some design for invitations and other printed pack-ins for an event, and needed to get them printed. Looked at other online "upload and print" services, but I have never seen such horrible reviews for a string of businesses in my life. Smartpress, on the other hand, had a lot of good reviews, so I decided to try them out. First, their website is very easy to use, and they have a lot of options other printers do not. They have lots of paper selections, envelope selections, and finishing options I didn't see elsewhere (matched envelopes, rounded corners, drilling, etc.). I had some cards to print in odd sizes, and Smartpress will let you specify a custom size - I didn't see this option at other vendors. Uploading was very easy - their website interface works very intuitively. After putting in my initial order, someone from Smartpress added a question to the order noting that 1) I could save quite a bit of money by ordering the same things a slightly different way, and 2) that the art wasn't sized quite right (I checked, and had indeed made a boneheaded mistake that would have been easy to miss). I really appreciated this kind of attention to detail - I cancelled that order, fixed the art, and put in a new order in the cheaper configuration. They got back to me promptly with PDF proofs, I OKed them online, and the material showed up right on time and looking great. Prices were good to begin with, and better in the cheaper configuration. Very, very satisfied with the end-to-end experience and would happily use them again. read more

Approved my proof a week ago today on a small print run. Initial shipping estimate was Wednesday, which I thought was reasonable given a Friday approval and me not selecting expedited processing. Wednesday came and went. I asked when my order would ship and they said they were o-so-busy but it would probably ship Thursday. Today's Friday, and still nothing. If you read their fine print, it basically says (paraphrasing) "If you need your job in anything resembling a timely fashion, pay for expedited processing. If you don't, we will print your order whenever we feel like it, and NO you cannot cancel your order just because we can't seem to get around to printing it and you're tired of waiting." Our company has utilized Smartpress for 85% of our print needs for the past few years. As of last few months, Smartpress has taken a turn for the worst. Turnaround is slow, customer service is short and our orders have come back late and printed incorrectly. When working with Smartpress to resolve a recent issue, I was quickly made aware that I had submitted an order incorrectly, so it was my fault project wasprinted incorrectly. And, they wanted me to pay to have the order re-printed. My question to Smartpress is, if a customer submits an order incorrectly, why not make them aware of it before processing the order? This would save both parties time and money. read more

We run three dance studios in central Iowa and last year decided to look for a different printer than the one we had been using for ten years. We are so happy we chose Smartpress. I needed a rush job of 5,000 invitations for an upcoming lecture. After pricing them out at the local Office Depot, I did some price checking online and found Smart Press was much more affordable and could still meet my deadline. I decided to order from them without any prior experience go to on, and hoped for the best. The order process was easy, and the customer service was excellent. After weather delays caused a concern about getting the invitations delivered in time, they even split my shipment -- sending half by air and half by ground delivery so I knew I would have at least some of the invitations on time without spending a fortune to ship the entire order by air. Everything arrived on schedule, including the ground shipment. I couldn't be more pleased with the invitations. They were shrink wrapped in bundles of 50, which was a nice and unexpected bonus. Of the 5,000, I found only one that was slightly defective (a slight flaw in the recycled paper stock that I had chosen) but the 20 or so extras that they included in the order far more than made up for the one defective one. I will certainly be sending all my printing business to Smart Press from now on. read more

They turned out amazing and people were really surprised when they learned I did it myself. Smartpress has really great prices and exceptional customer service. They even checked with me before sending a proof to make sure my bleeds were correct and that my file was indeed how I wanted it to look. I submitted a print order for a classic and tasteful nude art photography project, and within a few hours, I was refused and refunded completely. Smartpress denied my money and print submission because it didn't meet their terms & conditions. It was deemed as either "obscene, pornographic, indecent, or lewd." While I understand some of the needs for such parameters, I was deeply disappointed with their lack of customer services skills in handling this matter. I am also disappointed to see a printing company uphold such a peculiar standard without any type of flexibility- especially when the issue at hand is on a broad and varying spectrum. Alas, I for one don't care to support any organization who is clearly closed-minded, body-negative and prudish. I instead discovered a local print company in my area who doesn't have such moral dilemmas in their profession. read more

Smartpress.com was my wedding savior. After searching high and wide for a site that help me do all my paper/stationery affordably (and not finding one), I decided to work with individual designers on Etsy and print them myself. Smartpress could not have made it easier for me. I recommend ordering the pack of samples so you know what you're getting, but their instructions are easy to follow and someone with an actual name (!) emails you with the proofs for approval. I spent hours designing my own placecards, but didn't have the bleed marks right, Smartpress emailed me after I placed the order and walked me through exactly how to fix it so I didn't get a box of 200 messed up placecards. I've recommended them to other friends who don't want to spend their life savings on paper, and have used them since! read more

I recently used them for a family member's wedding invitation suite and I am 100% happy with the print job and the paper quality - I used the Ice Metallic paper. The text and line art is extremely sharp, the color is perfect (although I have a color calibrated monitor) and the paper is great, a nice shimmer to it and very thick / stiff. SmartPress....more like hot mess. Where do I even start. A month and a half ago I ordered samples for my company we were looking at ordering quite a few marketing materials from Smart Press. I placed the sample order and it took a month and a half to get them (no one would return my calls or emails). At this point I wasn't giving up thought maybe I'd give them a second chance. We were ready to place a large order with SmartPress and I needed help with the layout of our mailer document I was told they offer a service at a charge and to send my mailer via email and they would tell me how much it would cost for them to help with the layout....waited a few days with no response so I made a phone call. I was then passed off to a sales rep who promised to email me my quote... a few days go by and not a word so I call again and the lady on the phone had no idea how to help me. I hung up. I then emailed their info line and still got the ring around. I finally said enough I'll do the layout just quote me on printing and mailing our marketing materials.....I STILL GOT No ANSWER AND WAS TOLD MANY DIFFERENT STORIES... no one even seemed to care. Needless to say I gave another highly proficient company the business. THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE IN EVERT DEPARTMENT I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH. read more
