They more focus on weights training, not cardio, good for people who wants build their muscles. If you like cardio more, then maybe this is not matching. Cons : those issues I list only for me. This is a small local company, only has one location, so if you don't work near or live close, it's hard to catch up the schedule. The reason I joined the program cuz I got a summer job on the bee cave area, but after summer. It's gonna be very hard to keep going there. I personally don't want to spend too much time on driving. Because the owner idea is doing a small group to help people who want to change their lifestyle, so the price is little bit higher than regular group training. But Definitely cheaper than private training lesson. Overall I liked very much so far. Hope they can have more locations in the future.

I did the 6 week challenge with Chalk. Below is my review for the challenge and the facility. Recommend doing the 6 week challenge? No. Why?: Their In Body Scan. (what they use to measure your body weight) Recommend their facility? Depends. Please read entire review. I did the lose 5% body fat in 6 week challenge. My first weigh in, I weighed 173lbs. Body fat % was 28.5% and muscle mass was 70lbs. Throughout the 6 weeks I definitely got stronger. I was able to do 3 pull ups (woo!) , when I wasn't able to do any prior to the challenge. My endurance and strength had definitely increased. I was very diligent with the diet and didn't miss a workout. The day of my final weigh in, I weighed myself at my gyms In-body scan (the same scan Chalk uses). My results were 163lbs, 21.1% body fat, and 74lbs of muscle mass. I drove straight from the gym to my final weigh in and the Chalk scan measured me as 163lbs (same) but 25.5% body fat and 69lbs of muscle mass. Somehow I had GAINED 4% body fat in 30 minutes and lost muscle mass. What baffles me the most is that it measured that I LOST muscle mass throughout the 6 weeks which even the trainers agreed was untrue. For more clarification, if you lost 5% body fat throughout these 6 weeks, you get your money ($600) back that you put in to the challenge. I feel as if I was straight up gypped. There is no way I lost muscle mass throughout that time. The numbers don't add up and it makes me lose all trust with their facility. The trainers made excuses on the machine on how it depends on how much water you drank and other variables. However, they were not interested in having another weigh in to where the numbers made sense. I am happy with my results and Chalk helped a lot, but I DO NOT TRUST THEM due to their final weigh in and how they handled it. I will not return. If you demand a more competitive workout environment while having a trainer, I recommend Orange Theory Fitness more. In conclusion: Pros: small classes, more attention (depends on what time of the day you go) Pros: easy to follow meal plan if you do the challenge Cons: in body machine Cons: no shower

I found Austin Holistic Fitness and Nutrition through a Google search looking for a local weight…read moreloss program to help my husband and I lose our COVID 15 lbs. I was feeling very discouraged about not being able to lose the extra weight for a while and nothing seemed to be working. I had tested all the normal things in my blood work to be sure and when they all came back normal, I knew that it was my lifestyle. I thought I had a general idea of how to eat healthy, I had done Whole 30 diets and food sensitivity diets before, but fell short of being able to fully maintain that as a lifestyle long term. I realized I needed professional help to give me more tools to learn the best way to lose weight and to have a better relationship with food so it wouldn't feel so daunting and restrictive. I'm also the type of person that needs to make the investment and to be accountable to someone to have better success. My experience going through the 8 week program was awesome, and surprisingly not that hard. I was very worried about how I was going to do Week 1 for the fruits and veggies only, but it was so much easier than I thought and we never got cranky! Jeremy makes it so easy by providing shopping lists and recipes and some really great quick go to meals for your main courses. Food prep and assembly was another thing that I was concerned about initially, but having these go to meals made it very doable for 2 people with kids and busy schedules. Over the course of the 8 weeks we really got into practice making these healthy meals, so it became obvious quickly how easy it would be for us to maintain this process for the rest of our lives. We learned what our plate needs to look like and the portions and how different foods effect your body. One of the things throughout the program I thought I was missing was coffee, but at the end of the program when I tried it again, I honestly didn't like it at all! It made me feel super jittery and gross and I really realized how it affected my body. I also realized how much the foods I was eating were negatively effecting my digestion, because my digestion improved SO much even within the first week and throughout the 8 weeks! Another improvement I saw that I wasn't expecting was with my PMS symptoms. So after the 8 weeks I went from 140 to my goal weight of 125. My husband also quickly met his weight loss goal and more importantly, we now know HOW to eat and WHAT to eat to feed your body properly. We even had days where we cheated a bit. Had a drink or some halloween candy, etc. and we are still able to maintain. Jeremy is a super personable individual, you can tell he LEGIT cares about people and helping others tap into their full potential. He was always available when I needed him and we were able to communicate everything remotely over the phone. So anyone anywhere (even outside of Austin) has access to this service and information. I highly recommend Jeremy to assist with your weight loss or just how to eat healthy. The program was great and it works!

I got into it very skeptical as I had been struggling to shed extra lbs for a while. In the 8 weeks I went down 16 lbs and was able to really change my behavior on eating and exercise. The first few days of the program are tough, esp since you have change your eating habits, but if you stick through it, the benefit and upside is huge. I have still ways to go in my weight loss, but this program helped me jump start it and gave me the tools and confidence to continue with it. I went full-force with a great gym --just not great for me given my seven-year break and back issues, and managed to injure myself to the point where it hurt to walk. I came to my senses, did what I should have years ago, and started working out at Train for the Game. I've been seeing Kyler Brown and Jordan Pellien and the other awesome doctors at Austin Sports Therapy for about 3 years for my back injury, but never considered working out at the gym RIGHT THERE. The coaches push me but also have insight into my back issues bc they've talked to the doctors and know what modifications to give me. They pay attention and guide me through the group workouts. The only negatives are that the gym is full of HS football players at 5 pm, and there are no classes on Sundays.

This is not a typical membership gym setup, it's setup for classes. Classes: this was not a positive experience. I came in for a trial class and was given a great workout by Dan. The next time I came in I had a different trainer and she was negative and unfriendly. Then, my next 3 workouts at this facility were ALL the SAME! So, within 10 days time and 4 classes later I had done pushups, sandbell slams, lunges, and squats in every single workout with a few other exercises mixed in. The same muscles were being worked and getting quite fatigued. The workouts lacked variety and it seemed the trainers were just facilitators and not designing the workouts. They explained to me that their workouts stay the same for an entire month, which is not conducive to developing all ten fitness components nor injury prevention. I was never asked about injuries or if I needed to modify by any of the trainers. I will say, while there was hardly ever anyone at the front desk, a couple of trainers remembered my name (except for the one unfriendly trainer) and engaged me in conversation while I was walking around during my visits. The general manager was great about listening to my concerns and admitted that they're a new business in every sense. For the money, you can get much better service and customized workouts at other places. I ended up getting my money back for my month trial after trying 5-6 classes. I've had several trainers and coaches in my fitness career, so I have high standards. Beginners may find these classes to be challenging and correct, but I think those that are experienced will find the holes in their programming. Luckily, I've found the workout spot I was looking for, it's just not at Train for the Game.

THE BLACK AND WHITE: I came here once when my home gym didn't have any golds fit classes and Westlake had a golds fit class that fit into my schedule. Getting there is a bit of a trek for me since I live on the east side. Checking in is a breeze, amenities are what you typically find at a golds gym however this one does seem a bit outdated. There is a GGX, Golds fit, Golds burn, and the rest of the golds classes available as long as you sing up beforehand. It has been a while since I have visited this location as it is somewhat out of the way for me. I had work appointment nearby, which made very convenient to visit. The attraction is that it is one of the nicer older Gold's gyms (not like the new state-of-the-art Gold's gym on Burnet Road). The gym has ample cardio machines, resistance equipment, fitness classes and cross-fit room. I was at the Westlake location mainly for a fitness class and to work out on the machines. I especially like that the location is clean especially the women showers and restroom. In addition, it is a fairly large gym with extended hours (for the early birds and the late-night folks): Monday-Friday 5:00 AM - 11:00 PM Saturday 7:00 AM - 9:00 PM Sunday 7:00 AM - 9:00 PM Gold's Gym Westlake front desk staff were cordial and helpful during my visit. After class each person was provided with a cold strong towel to cool down. The cool thing that sets Strong apart is that their "rowformer" has a bike attach and erg/rowing machine. She set the tone for the positive experience I would receive. Because Strong Pilates is a little different from regular Reformer Pilates, it takes a while to get used to the vocabulary and equipment logistics and usage. I like the fact that Strong Pilates combines either a bike or rower (known as the "erg side) to the workout. The intervals on the erg side are challenging, either based on a certain calorie burn or number of meters. There are usually about 3 blocks of bike or rower: Once the first erg side workout is completed with several intervals of intense work followed by short rests, the session progresses to the strength side, utilizing the carriage and springs and sometimes free weights. This part is more like traditional reformer Pilates, but with a few differences. After attaching the carriage straps to your feet or hands, several challenging strength exercises follow. Sometimes you are standing up or planking, while pulling the carriage. The spring tension is adjustable to how strong you are feeling. I felt a little unsteady during some of the planking positions, as the carriage tended to move. But this can be corrected by adding more spring tension. I normally do lots of weight lifting/strength workouts, but Strong Pilates takes it to a new level! I definitely felt very strong (and tired) after each workout! The cold scented towels provided at the end are so refreshing...a perfect way to end the session!
