Picked up two personal pizza orders; one veggie one meaty. It was alright. Could have used a few more minutes in the oven but that is a personal preference. The dough is soft but not springy and also not thin enough, so it feels like a homemade pizza. Ingredients were good enough so I ate all the toppings and left the bread like a skinny b would, LOL read more

Five adults and two kids went in for pizza. Most of us were from out of town but the one local said this was her favorite pizza. We ordered a large Zorba the Greek pizza had feta, spinach etc and was vegetarian and Toby's Fav with sausage, pepperoni and garlic. Both were delicious. Particularly wonderful was the crust. It had a good amount of crust but was not heavy and chewy like most pizzas. It was the best crust I have eaten in years. The service was great, staff friendly even gave the kids some toy cars. Outdoors service was great but nice inside as well. Also had some good cider with different flavors. I highly recommend. read more

If you're looking for a delicious pizza and a quick bite before you start galavanting through Guerneville, Smart Pizza is the local spot you need to try. We called ahead on a Friday night, and be prepared as they cook everything to order, so it may take sometime. The owner and pizza chef were nice, and the pizza was delicious and crispy after a long day of travel. Their salads come prepackaged and portioned. We were super hesitant to come here due the low reviews. I can definitely see how the service wasn't the most friendly, but the food was very decent. We got a ranch chicken pizza, which had tender pieces of chicken and plenty of bacon. I don't think the Cajun sauce really tastes like much at all underneath all the toppings. I really liked the sweetness of the sauce with the onions as well. We picked up hot honey from a supermarket and that was a great dinner! I'm not sure why the reviews are awful, but for me, I think the food is one of the better options in Guerneville! read more

My friend and I decided to go here after wine tasting. The outside was colorful and clean. The inside was a bit darker but so colorful and neat. We were immediately greeted and shown a menu. We ordered a Ceasar salad, a whole loaf of garlic bread, lemonade and 2 pizzas (Toby Fav and Cajun Combo). We sat outside and our food was brought outside. The lemonade was refreshing, the salad was crisp, the garlic bread was tasty, the pizzas were delicious and the even the ranch was good! Our server was very attentive and even brought us more ranch to take home. If I'm ever back in the area, I'll definitely go back. read more

This lovely unapologetic popular pizza place at the river gets very busy. I was eager for a quick snack and noted that they had pizza bread and got in and out and a reasonable amount of time so if you're in a hurry and you need some quick super tasty eats. I do have to recommend the pizza bread Place is and the staff is no nonsense and straightforward which adds to its charm. Seeing the locals come to grab their pizzas and come at closing and hopes they get a pizza an hour later amusing. Everyone wants to seem to get a bite here, but do you plan ahead order ahead and get the pizza of your dreams because people do covet the pizza here. My girlfriend and I stopped in here on a whim on a weekend trip and we fell in love. The pesto artichoke pizza was the best we've ever had. The restaurant is decked out in awesome, vintage memorabilia that we loved to look at as we ate. The owner and woman working the register were very kind to us and everyone else who walked in the door, we enjoyed swapping stories of San Francisco dates. Would highly recommend. read more

Not a lot of pictures because we were so hungry, but I can definitely recommend Smart Pizza for families and friends who need a good pizza fixing during breaks in between exploring the red woods and/or Russian River. They are extremely efficient and quickly got our appetizers and pizzas ready, for 5 families! Not sure why Smart Pizza doesn't have better reviews? Their pizza is high quality. Not a thin crust but a fresh pizza dough crust which I'm sure is made on order. We had a salad and a couple draft beers. Both good as well. They had a solid draft selection too. The ambiance is old school pizza vibe with a nod to the history of the area reflected by the pictures on the walls. The staff was welcoming. Solid spot. I would recommend and definitely go back. read more

Cashier - Duchess of Dough (at least, that was the name on the receipt) $32.50 (Bacon, Chicken, Ranch, BBQ Pizza - $22.95, Beer $7.00) I'm only giving this restaurant a 3* review because it would be too much to give it more "UNLESS" I was only reviewing the pizza. It's a little hole in the wall in Guerneville, a friend wanted to try. She'd read something about the owners (ladies) who were possibly written up or reviewed poorly over some political BS. So we wanted to support their endeavors. No inside seating at present, but it was a nice day to eat outside. From the get go the Pizza Maker person was so rude, argumentative and confrontational and somewhat mocking, we almost didn't proceed w/the pizza order. He actually started to get in an argument with me over where he came from and sadly some political BS. My friend and I both agreed, the owner needs to know of this very rude employee. Especially considering the Pizza was off the hook fantastic! Great combinations, generous size, wonderful fluffy and chewy crust, piping hot and once you start, it's hard to stop eating it. Yummy pizza sauce too, that did not overwhelm and it was not swimming in runny cheese. All ingredients were right to the edge of the crust. If you are in the area, do give it a try. A pie takes about 30+ min., so grab a beer and eat outside. Just wish the beer had been colder, as in the little red cup it warmed up pretty quickly. Fingers crossed your pizza maker on the day of your visit is not this angry dude. Tried to give a rating on Trip Advisor, but they are not listed. read more

Kind of good, kind of not. The crust is super, and the sauce tastes good. But I think they must use the most cheapest mozarella in the world. It's kind of like plastic. And the toppings, especially the onions, tasted almost slightly bad. I was also really disappointed they wouldn't let us out on their tree-shaded back deck next to river on a nice day. The only other option for being outside was out in front on the street, which I don't like because of cars. And at that particular time, the sun was setting and blinding us, and a bunch of unsightly drug addicts were smoking drugs near us, from which I got a very unwanted slight contact high. read more

I am a long term customer, i.e., years. They do a good job. If there was a 4.5 stars option I'd most likely mark that. If there were a dollar sign rating for the cost of their pizza I would ring it in at about $$$$$. The pizzas are pricey. No matter, their food is very good. In past years I have eaten in and during summer the back deck is unique and pleasant. In recent years I mostly order take out to watch a ball game at home (usually pizza, but their spaghetti and meatballs is excellent and generous) . Almost always their staff is polite and friendly which for me is a big deal. When you want a good pizza or a hearty pasta dish Smart Pizza is a good choice. read more

Making pizza is certainly an interpretive art. I thought this was a good pizza. A busy event week with a fair and realistic wait of 40 minutes from time of order. Had the all meat which was wonderfully cheesy, saucy, and messy. I was surprised by the ham being chopped, but every restaurant in town did ham the same way. Must be the way around here. It was our first meal in town, and I think we'll end the week here as well. I'm disappointed in the sad meltdowns of poor reviews. There are always those who know nothing about the process of making pizza, or the possibility of cross contamination from an errant ingredient. I'd stay away from pizza if the strength of my genetics was so poor I have possible allergies to the multitude of ingredients that can and do go into a pizza. Everything is also cooked to perfection, especially the fish and steak. There was also a fancy tea demonstration, I would say one of the best teas I've ever had. First off, the service is top tier! I was pleasantly surprised, this definitely was equivalent to a Michelin star experience. Amazing service and attentiveness, and were also in sync haha. The restaurant itself is beautiful and cozy, love the tree in the middle. I also love the dessert experience of taking us to the patio, even more cozy! with the fire and stars above, blankets included (: We also ate breakfast here twice -- I would recommend the burger for brunch! But service / ambiance is totally different and casual, you order first and then they will bring out the food to whatever table you choose. "This or that" for a shorter tasting menu for $80 pp before gratuities or tax. The "all that" tasting menu offers more variety for $140. You can also opt for a la carte by sitting at the bar and ordering off the bar menu. Everything we had in the "this or that" tasting was delicious. There were three small bites to start (raw oyster, scallop on blue corn tortilla, fried tapioca cheese square) then two appetizers (squash 3 ways, sashimi on passion fruit sauce). You get your choice of entree. I got the catch of the day which was a Mt Lassen trout which was perfectly cooked. My husband got the picanha which was also perfectly cooked medium rare. For dessert I got a basque chocolate cheesecake which was rich but not overly so, while he got the buffalo milk panna cotta which was refreshing with citrus. Breakfast is ordered at the bar which becomes a cafe in the daytime. The smoked ham and Brie on medialuna (basically a croissant with a sweet honey glaze) was the perfect combination of savory and sweet. I'm still dreaming of this breakfast sandwich! We also got the dawn ranch burger which comes with thicc fries with pillowy soft potato center. Both taste great with their tomato relish. The dining room is gorgeous with a rustic wood cabin feel yet cozy by the crackling fireplace. Our servers were extremely professional and friendly.

They had told us that they offer house-made doggie meatballs and so they gave us the meatball to take home as well. I got the spicy mocha, and it probably the best spicy mocha I have ever had. The balance between the flavor of the chocolate, the spiciness, and other warm spices was incredible. My partner got the dark mocha, which was also delicious! In terms of food, we got: Pancakes from the North and added a side of egg. The pancake is super thin, almost like a crepe, and comes with sides of whipped cream, syrup, butter, and lingonberry jam. This was absolutely delicious, would definitely get again. Groovy sconed and gravy - this was the extra winner for us because we are pescatarians and don't usually get to find a gravy we can eat! The veg version has cheddar herb scones (regular version is cheddar-bacon) in a gravy (not sure what they use for the gravy, but we did confirm it's vegetarian). The gravy was thick and delicious, the scones were hearty enough to not get totally soaked and soggy, and the poached egg it came with was perfectly jammy. Our dog was obsessed with the doggie meatballs, she gives it 11/10! We got a sweet scone to eat later, which was also divine. I am definitely coming back next time I'm in town! (Without my dog so we can actually eat at the restaurant and have the full experience)

The owner's daughter Sarah runs the kitchen. My husband had a pork tenderloin schnitzel "Vienna style" ($20) and I had a jaegerschnizel with mushroom gravy ($20) and both were excellent. We split the potato pancakes (two with sour cream and apple sauce, $12) which were served crispy but tasty. They had a nice German beer and wine list. We finished with a delicious apple strudel to complete a lovely meal. I recommend this restaurant for tasty dinners in a unique venue.

The champagnes themselves are inexpensive, but still really enjoyable, and the tasting experience is relaxed, friendly, and not pretentious at all. It's a great place to sip, celebrate, and enjoy bubbly without breaking the bank. The grounds are pretty, the staff is welcoming, and overall it was the perfect little celebratory stop.
