    Loading of my belongings went fair enough. But when everything was loaded, a bunch of obvious stuff…read morewas left behind. Even tagged items. After emailing the boss, he blamed me for having a door closed, blamed his employees for not having the skill required to unplug items (even though they were able to disconnect everything else) and then hung up on me. Not looking forward to the destination end of the move if this is how the front end is going.

    When I did my first move with U-haul I asked if all my stuff would fit into the truck and the mover…read moreassured me that the truck packed a deceptively lot of things. On this move the lead mover guy looked at my place and said that they couldn't get all my stuff in the truck but they would pack the major part, was that alright. Well, no, what did he think I was going to do with the rest. Plus, based on my calculations, it would all fit. But it really concerned me. So I phone Mike at Hoyt's. He talked to the lead guy. It did all fit but I was extra stressed the whole time. This told me that the movers didn't have much experience. I provided them with a plastic to wrap around certain furniture; It wasn't used. I provided 2 packs of U-haul blankets (16-20) and many were not used. When I unloaded at the other end I found some things scraped, chipped or broken. I have moved my things from one side of Canada to the other and back, and nothing was broken as a result of the movers. They packed up in three hours, which I considered a reasonable amount of time. Then they added another hour onto the bill. I was told that it included travel time. My notes were packed but when I got unpacked I read my quote and no travel time was stated. They told me that they arrived at quarter past the hour whereas my watch said 25 minutes after. They included the time it took to prepare the invoice and have it paid (I never had a mover do this before). I know they don't care what I think because I've left and won't be using them again. But this company is affiliated with Van Lines and its associates so Hoyt's reflects on the the other companies.
