After four…read moreor five service calls from Perth to Melbourne we finally had two coax cables replaced, and the LNB replaced. Then in September this year we had just fuelled near Richmond NSW, turned on the ignition key and the dish started going up! And it wouldn't come down. We parked at the back of the petrol station, and tried cycling the controller, reset etc but eventually resorted to removing bolts off the dish bracket to manually lower it and tie it down with bungee cords. By this time we had decided to replace the Alden Sat dish and controller with an Oyster (no change to VAST set-top box, ours is an Altec UEC Dual Channel unit). I rang the distributor to find out which installer was nearest to us, and then contacted Sydney RV in Penrith. They wanted $7,250 incl installation! When I told them that I knew the RRP to be $4,625, they said that the difference was for installation and that they would need the motorhome for two days - needless to say we declined. I then contacted Springers in Lawnton QLD who usually have installers at the CMCA Rallies - so we had it installed a couple of weeks later at the Canberra Rally for $4,950 (took about 4 hours) - works beautifully.

I'm not sure where these guys came from, as they seem to arise over night, but it's hardly a thriving store. It seems these guys cater towards a very specific audience - people who care very deeply about their home theatre setup. To be honest, it's not for everyone, as it's about a bazillion times more expensive than, say, golfing - but either way, if you're going to do, might as well do it right! They cater for a commercial market too. I suspect this is the bread and butter of the Living Sound and Vision market. The service is very good and personal - they didn't do the normal sales BS that Harvey Norman do. Very professional and very knowledgeable too!

I keep reminding here there is now something called online banking, but she refuses to move with the times. Despite her reluctance to move with the times and go online, she still manages to make her visits to Telstra shop in Indro to pay the bills and get all her questions answered while she's at it. The Telstra shop in Indro have proved to be so good at their customer service that it doesn't even tempt my mum into online banking. She enjoys coming here because it is convenient and she always has peace of mind. As I said the customer service is really good. There is often a Telstra staff member greeting customers as they enter the store. The staff would ask the customers what service they are after and if they could assist in any way. They do help! If you tell them you have a problem with your bill, they will point you in the right direction etc etc. Simple and basic good customer service.

That's right got the whole repair for free! A new top case/battery/display essentially a new laptop again besides the logic board all for free! As a poor med student this was a very HUGE blessing for me and my guy Shannon at Apple really hooked it up for me!!!

As to the latter, the staff seemed as cheery as anyone else around here (and why wouldn't they be, they live in tropical paradise?). I would note that while the store offers adaptors for any of Brisbane's numerous international visitors who don't have freaky diagonal plugs on their devices, you can get cheaper ones elsewhere.

Honest, Fast, and Outstanding Communication!…read more After having my HDD crash and taking with it a bucket load of data it was a refreshing experience to deal with such a great company. Data Detect were honest about the likelihood of recovery and turned around a super quick quote for the repair. They communicated in easy terms what was going on and talked through some options and ways to prevent this in future. In my case my HDD was not cost effective to recover the data so I will just take the lesson on the chin this time! Quote was provided free of charge and they even mailed the drive back out to me for free - Seriously, where do you find that anymore! Note: (just in case you are wondering) I do not work work for or am affiliated with this company in any way - infact my wife dropped the drive off and I have only emailed and spoken on the phone with them. This quaint little computer shop just opened recently at the Mt Ommaney Shopping Centre. At first…read moreglance I thought they had pretty cool looking computer towers with fancy bright lights coming out of them. When I went in to inquire about fixing my computer or buying parts, they did that as well. Brilliant. So basically the guys behind the counter are super friendly and are really good at explaining situations out to you in laymens terms so you actually understand what it is that is wrong for starters and what they can do to fix it. There are some situations like mine that meant that fixing my 'rig' would actually cost more than the computer itself... so it was a bit of a sad day for me that day. They also do viruses, have some basic software and cool accessories for computers. For those who don't really like to get into the technical side of things, they sell computer packages for what you need. What you want is a different story when you're on a budget, but they ask you what you need the computer for and formulate some sort of personalised computer for you... also a brilliant thing. I found them to be friendly, fast and have some quality products. Can't really go wrong... then again I have nothing much to compare these guys to.
