A good experience altogether. The hotel looks very bland on the outside, but the reception area is quite elegant, considering its category. Reception staff were a bit on the cool side, but professional and efficient. The hotel is right opposite Derby Midland station, and about a 12-15 minute walk from the city centre (slackers can always use the bus). Due to Covid room service was available on-demand only, but that's not a problem for me. The rooms were very nice for the price, small-ish but not too small, with a modern and clean shower. If you arrive late at night from a pub crawl, you must make yourself get heard to get in. Again, not a problem. The flat screen TV was larger than usual, and with plenty of available channels. The shower worked okay once I figured out how to get warm water. Good location, better than expected room for the price. There's continental and British breakfast buffet in a rather elegant room on the ground level (UKP 9.50 per day if not included with the room, only made use of it once - very much okay), and thankfully there was a lift (which was working except for a day and a half during my 6-nights stay). Derby is a great place for real ale drinkers, and this hotel is a very good option for your stay. Would book again! read more
