Every year I do all the purchasing for the St. Joseph the Worker carnival. The team this year at this store made my job 100% easier. I came in the week I wanted to pick up and placed a $6000.00 order. They had the product pulled, palletized, and rung up for when I got there at 8am the day of pick up. Gilbert was amazing to work with. He called me if there were any issues and went above and beyond for me. Also the store magnet Brian was a pleasure to deal with. I'm writing this review because I've been very impressed how they've handled the Covid-19 virus. They are the first market I've known to place a limit on the amount you can buy when people were hoarding things like toilet paper. I went in today and noticed how they set the cashier lines up so that customers stay 6 feet apart. I've been coming here for years and the only reason I don't give it a 5 rating is because the produce isn't great but otherwise a good and well run market. read more

This location is a scam!! My grandma shops here regularly and on more than one occasion has been charged for more items than she actually got. Normally it isn't a big deal for a couple dollars and she doesn't need to go back immediately for anything so she brushes it off. However, two days ago she did her regular shopping. She was charged for an item 3 times that she only got 1 of. When she finished loading the belt the girl at the checkout charged her twice for laundry detergent. At the time she thought that was the only mistake, and since she saw the girl charge it twice she said something and the girl rudely called for an override. Problem fixed, no big deal, so she finished checking out, loaded the car, came home. After unloading, she looked over her receipt and noticed the charges for 3 of 1 item (turkey). Since there was a few more things she needed, she went back today to see a manager about the charges and pick up the last minute items. The manager she spoke with took the receipt and went in the back without a word. He was gone 20 minutes before returning. He was rude and told her she got three of the item. She asked to review the tape because she did not get three of the item nor was it present upon returning home. He took off to the back again and 'watched the tape' he was even more rude saying "you got what you got" which she didn't. This man argued over $6...and lost a customer who spends hundreds in this store in a single month. She went to another store instead of spending more money in this place that does not treat their customers with respect or correct things their employees are doing consistently wrong. He still argued with her and then walked away from her, telling her she got what she got... Customers who go here, check your receipt. That's the only advice I have. I go there because they have good prices on some products. Customer service is seriously lacking though. Today cashier Anastasia took 10min to even want to walk over to the supposedly open register after I had unloaded everything there (the only other register open was a 15 item maximum which the cashier told me I couldn't use because I had too many items). She gave me 10 plastic bags for not that many items and was rude the whole time. I will go back to ralphs, I'd rather pay more for much better customer service. Smart and final need to step up and educate their employees or they'll lose many more customers. read more

I like the layout of this store. The vast amount of fresh produce helps me to keep my cooking inventory under control. They carry big containers of some items and moderate sized items for the person who doesn't feel like purchasing bulk. The produce is always fresh and clean. I have never had problems with that department here. The meat department is just a little lacking though. I wish they had a few more choices on cuts of meat. The deli section is cool. A few more cheeses would be nice. I am always on the hunt for a good Gruyere or even a nice Habanero Jack cheese. There is also a vast selection of restaurant supplies. Cooking pots, frying pans, chafing dishes, take home food trays, cutlery and utensils like you wouldn't believe. They round out the south side of the store with the refreshments. There are many selections of soda, vast amounts of beer and even an awesome selection of wines and sparkling wines. The front of the store has all the liquor and it's under lock and key for a reason. It is easier to ask for it at the checkout anyways. This store is generally kept in a clean and orderly fashion. They are also quick to clean up any spills. read more

Since I no longer am a Costco member, Smart & Final is my go-to place for bulk items such as paper towels and toilet paper. They also have a decent produce section. I love the packaged herbs still moist in soil to ensure freshness. They also carry my favorite and so hard to find Topo Chico bottled sparkling water! I only know of this place that carries it by the case in the Valley. Vallarta and Super King grocery store carry it only by the bottle. The cashier tonight was super polite and friendly too! There's ample parking and wider selection of groceries compared to other Smart & Final locations. Smart & Final is A-OK with me and is part of my regular shopping rotation. Even the Wolvesmouth and Sharksteeth team shop at their Smart & Final for their pop-up exclusive fine-dining dining events. read more

This store has almost replaced Costco in my life. Almost. Great prices on dairy, eggs, canned chicken broth (seriously), cereal and flour tortillas. ESPECIALLY the tortillas, although the low price seems to only exist at this location...I went to the SF Extra on Ventura near Fallbrook and was shocked to see the tortillas were priced at twice what they are at this location. They also carry my fave Daily's apple wood smoked bacon. Produce prices are not much lower than any of the chain markets...I buy that elsewhere. I placed a delivery order with this store. It arrived about 30 min late, half of the order was missing, 3 lbs of organic strawberries were spoiled, other vegetables were not good quality either (I had literally throw away green onions), instead of two sour creams, there were two cottage cheeses, which I didn't order at all. Electronic receipt that was sent to me after the order was picked shows that all items of my order were picked up including the sour cream. I am disappointed. I can't believe that at this time, during the pandemic, such companies as Smart and Final would take advantage of people. Please do not order delivery from them. My delivery was a fraud. read more

I'm here all the time because my house is so close! The price is probably not as good as the nearby Food 4 Less, and they have less selections when it comes to your beer and wine.. But they're always really clean and they're always stocked. Maybe I come during the good times because I always see workers everywhere stocking up and cashiers are always pleasant (even though those young ones you thought might be less friendly). Another plus from Smart & Final is their store brand, First Street. I love these more than the store brand from Ralph's, Vons and Target. They are the cheaper options, but not the less quality options. Parking is always plenty. The only negative is the line can get so long sometimes, and I hate how you have to go all the way to the other side to exit. The entrance door won't open from the inside. I think it's time to update my review for the store. I've been coming here for some time now. My biggest complaint with the store is the lack of customer service. I've many times had to help people find things that the store clerks didn't even know where they were. The other thing that's really painful at the store is the checkouts. I stood in line for 10 minutes before they finally opened up more registers. They only had one open. This is an ongoing thing. Every once in a while you see management pop out of the office but very rarely do you see that. It feels like they're hiding. It's just feels like a weird store. read more

After driving through and dodging broken glass in the parking lot, I find a spot. Upon exiting my car, I notice a horrid smell. Apparently someone relieved themselves in the parking lot. No thanks. I'll drive to their Woodland Hills location from here on out. This place is a cesspool, LITERALLY. In the past I noticed how one would find dented cans, half eaten food on the shelves around the store and I'd report it to the managers or contact corporate, with no change. No one cares at this location and it is unfortunate. They ought to merge this with the local DMV and DWP offices, the attitude of some of the employees there is the same at S & F. read more

Service is OK. However.. remember to check the prices on stuff you buy. If they say "buy 5 and save!" make sure you get that "discount" I was just there today and they rang my stuff up and it didn't register a discount. The cashier's like "i'm gonna have to send someone to check." I'm like, "then do it." Go figure to save time he just went ahead and offered me a discount (which still wasn't as much as the sign said) but I was tired of holding up the line. MANAGEMENT - IF ITS ON SALE MAKE SURE IT RINGS UP PROPERLY. Your employees service was fine but you need to make sure this doesn't happen regularly. I like the flow of this location and the fact that it opens up at 6am!! The thing about smart and final is that they do offer a lot of bulk items and also normal size items. They don't have as much variety as a food 4 less, Ralph's or Von's. Customer service is always friendly and the best part is that I've hardly ever seen there be a long line. Right in line with most of the other reviews - This store get's an "A-OK" from me. I feel that this is a solid store for the most with vast selections in meat, wine, beer, spices, produce, and more at a reasonable price (if you go with the First Street Brand). I do see their prices change very frequently - it's not uncommon to find a bottle of wine selling for $10 one day and $6.99 the next. As far as the neighborhood goes, this is a good place to stop at to pick up some of the items that you might not be able to find elsewhere. They could improve on their customer service a little. My biggest observation that could use immediate attention to however is their queues / wait time. Out of 10+ register stations, there are normally only two that are ever open. Many times you'll see the line pour out into the aisles even. Overall, I can say that I'm more thankful than not to have these guys so close by. read more

I was asking where i can find organic nectarines. the produce guy didn't even let finish speaking and he already said NO. i asked another guy in produce he looks armenian. i asked if they have a 3lbs mandarin he said NO they don't have. Yet i found under the oranges. asked another produce guy where i can find persian cucumbers he said NO AGAIN! Yet i found it right by the entrance door. I went in here today to get some chicken wings and salad ,The sizes and prices are wonderful a 3 pound bag of salad is only $2.49 at that price in a regular grocery store you will get a small bag. The Tyson tequila lime chicken wings are $17.99 but it's an 8 lb bag. The staff was really helpful so I am not sure of the negative reviews or maybe I am just lucky. Hello, I am a customer for many years who lives in the area. I have a couple concerns. first off they leave many cases of water on there fenced in dock in back (In the sun).This water sits there for days sometimes. They have been saying that is cancer causing to leave water in the sun.#2 The last two nights I went in at 9:20pm the front door is closed wit a long cart in the inside indicating they are closed. I walk in the closed door when someone lets me in (doesn't open easy)I tell the girl that five people wanted in but didn't know to go in the exit.(losing business)I told her that it was crazy to expect people to know what to do. She didn't want to hear what I had to say. As I was leaving three more customers came up & I yelled go in the exit they said thank you. So I went to tell the girl what was happening. She shrugged me off &turn her head away from me.(act like she didn't here me).So this made me think to yelp this situation hoping someone will see this &fix the problems. read more

But overall I was very pleased with the environment of this place was bigger then most smart & finals got great essentials for the fraction of the price of other stores. The staff is rude & unhelpful! Every time I go there for Soda the manager Jose tells me I have it in the back but, its warm. The shelf for the cold soda is always empty. Horrible-Horrible-Horrible! I've been a customer of this store for over 16years. Dating back to their previous location. I own a large business and spend approx.$1500.00 to $2000.00 a month in groceries at this location. What was once a well stocked store with helpful and friendly staff, is now a store with low stock. The cashiers, with the exception 2 or 3, are not friendly. They will act as if you are a complete bother to them when asking for assistance. The last two managers do not hold a candle close to the original manager (Rick?) who was promoted to another location. I attempted their online delivery service for the first time on Monday. TWENTY-FIVE of my requested items were not stocked! Are you kidding me??? The manager was nowhere to be found and the floor staff were not helpful in the least! I have made a formal complaint to the Corporate office and requested a refund on my annual online membership. SO disappointing!! read more

I used to give this store 4 1/2 stars but over the last 6 months, the produce is not well stocked and not fresh. I used to tell my friends that I was amazed at their fresh produce! NO more.
