I prefer the selection of To-go and picnic supplies over other stores options. They are also the only stores around that carry Churros' in the freezer section that are super quick to make. If at all possible do not go on a weekend it is horribly busy and the clerks are very over worked. Getting back to staffing normals would do wonders for having good times to shop all the time. If you must on a weekend go before 9am. Sometimes the produce is slim pickings when it's a new sale because everyone loves stocking up on veggies/fruit. Although the meat department is somewhat small compared to over grocers they have a good selection of small and large cuts. The only reason one star off is because by the time I get to the cashier they all have seemed over worked/stressed and just trying to make it through the day. read more

Costco without the membership fees! Fresh produce, rotisserie chicken and just about any supermarket items in a bunch. Only thing I hope to see in the near future is more seafood! read more

When is this store restocking their items? I shop here every week and a large amount of items have been out of stock for several weeks!

Great prices and unique products. They also have a "reduced for a quick sale" section in the meat department.

Just left Smart & Final and may never go back! I went in for a few baking ingredients that I can get in larger sizes. While I was there I noticed other items that had digital coupons attached so I registered and account and clipped them. At check out the terminal didn't ask for a phone number at the beginning so I thought it would at the end. Nope, while I was bagging my groceries the cashier pushed everything through on my side of the terminal. She tells me the total and of course it has already been pushed through by her. I asked at what point does it ask for my phone number to apply the coupons. The cashier, Aday says you have to tell me your number. NO, your machine should ask or you should! And when I said something to her there was no I'm so sorry or I can get a manager. I only bought some additional things because I clipped the coupon. Horrible customer service! read more

The prices are better than other places. There are larger weight groceries available. All in all not the worst experience.

Made an online order 03/16/2025. I waited in my car for over 30 minutes. I had to go inside to find the cart of my order just sitting out. I had things such as cheese and heavy cream just sitting out for 30 minutes. The associate just says "oh there you go" as if it's no big deal. read more

Ordered online on 12/31/24 for pickup four days later on 1/4/25. When I arrived, both items were out of stock. How can they be out of stock four days after placing the order? BUYER BEWARE...Smart & Final should change their name to Dumb for Shopping Here. Horrible customer service & communication. Do yourself a favor and bypass theses hacks at all costs! read more

We stopped here during a road trip for a pit stop and to pick up some fruit. There were organic and regular apples. It was a little busy @ 4:00 in the afternoon, so we did self-checkout. Plenty of parking. read more

Another place that doesn't recognize other shifts than DAY SHIFT? Why, though? Mysyery. They are very confused by night shift people coming in to do their shopping (including alcohol) at 6am. Not everyone works dayshift! Are you just ignorant?? Now if I want to buy booze I have to find the ditzy dumbass they have running the front and tell her. She says "ring everything else and I'll ring the alcohol" ?? Two separate transactions for this. Awesome. This place is awful now. I'll drive across town to fucking Safeway thanks. read more

I like this spot for picking up a few items here and there they have a great selection of bulk items and a good selection of fruits and vegetables but the real reason I shop here is because of Cameron, she gives the best customer service, she is kind and always goes out of her way to be super helpful. I feel like employees like that make the ambience of the store worth spending my money at. Thank you Cameron for being a great employee. read more

This Smart & Final Extra store used to be my home base for non Costco runs. While it delivers what you need for food, drinks, and booze, it falls well short in cleanliness and organization. First off, re stocking is done at odd times, I would think most takes place before opening or after closing. Not the case here, I've seen them restocking two hours after opening from the previous day customer rush. This made it difficult for me since I used to make 7:00 AM runs before work to grab items, but found most were still out of stock. Secondly, their restroom is terrible, so please be aware if you need to use it for anything, but outside of that I really felt like the store lacked general cleanliness. While yes, you can still get what you need for a great price in bulk, I just now try to avoid this location and hit another store nearby in another city. read more

If you know what you want. Everyone is always nice here. And it's the only place I can find E&J Peach Brandy.

Stay the hell away! There are fruit flys all over the fruit. No one speaks English. They only have kid sized urinals in the men's bathroom. You have to be 3ft to use them. Better off going to Walmart. read more

It's okay. It's a warehouse store, so you won't have world class customer service, but I believe that the staff works hard and means well. They've been stocking more organic products, so that's a plus. I liked their bulk bins... until the most recent trip in March, 2020. I bought 4 pounds of bulk brown rice and came home with rice weevils. Had to throw it all away. No more bins for me. As of this writing, the world is falling apart, so I do appreciate the staff at this store for doing what they can for the community by coming to work each day. read more

Not the grocery store I go to most often (I live a little closer to Trader Joe's), but I had a fantastic service experience today that deserves to be called out. I ran to this store at around 9:55 (they close at 10) to grab a few items, and left quickly. I was almost home before realizing I had left my phone at the store. I ran back and tried to find it to no avail, but Pedro, who was there last night, told me to go home and try using the "find my phone" feature. I went home and tried it, then went back to the store about half an hour (almost 45 minutes after closing). Pedro had found my phone and kept it safe for me! It would have been easy for them to tell me to go home and come back tomorrow, but the effort Pedro and the other staff put in helped me to find peace of mind in what could have been a very stressful situation. You can't buy that kind of service. read more

Horrible customer service from manager, rude and condescending. Do not honor their sales price. Wrote to store to complain and no response, wrote 3 times. Filed a compliant with BBB and again, no response. Next, I will file a compliant with County Weights and Measures. They have been cracking down on stores here, advertising one price and not honoring it. Mgr was incapable of doing basic math when I wanted a refund. Kept playing games and doing funny stuff. Refunds were not correct. She then told me the difference was the sales tax. First, food does not have sales tax, and 2nd, since she could not give me the correct refund on the items they refused to honor the price on, I said refund the entire order. She could not get that right. If you are returning something, you don't pay the sales tax, that is returned also. Finally had to tell the rude mgr, take the total, deduct the two refunds you already gave and the remainder is the amount of refund you still owe me. OMG, and she is a mgr!!! If I was not watching what she was doing, she would have ripped me off. Really wondering if that was her intent, as her till would not have balanced at end of day, and she could have pocketed the difference. I used to go here all the time, for many years, and since this happened in August have not been back. Never a response from the company. They do not care, they do not honor their advertised prices. I still have all my receipts to prove to Weights and Measures the game the Mrg was playing with my money. Shop here, and beware. I have been telling everyone do not shop here, they will rip you off. read more

Smart & Final $22. Yeah, that's my life; baby food for the cat and tequila for me... read more

Smart and Final is similar to a Food Max with a Costco bulk twist. The store is absolutely huge. They just added a bulk section. And the bulk section has Organics. Super huge plus. This typically is a place I will run to if I need something quick in a pinch like mayonnaise. But this is also the place to come if you need tapatio or mayonnaise is a gallon. This place is serious bulk! The store is very brightly lit. The parking lot is big. They have super late hours. You can beat their prices. I would however, be sure and check the expiration dates on everything!!!!! Especially meat and dairy. I need bacon quickly for a bbq. I ran down there. And I am glad I checked the date because not only was that package expired, they WERE ALL EXPIRED by about a week. read more

Un freaking believable. This store always has a huge damn line and there is always ONLY 2 cashiers. They see how long the damn line is and they still don't get more cashiers to help out. They get 1 star for their prices and bc I can't give negative stars. The employees of this store are so rude and unprofessional I'm actually starting to believe they're training their employees to have terrible customer service. Today my level of customer service was so low and disrespectful that I plan to go to corporate or their CEO if they even have one. Today as usual they had 1 cashier open and it was the 10 items or less like bc that makes sense right?‍ and another cashier chatting at the lane next to the only open cashier as he helps the last two people he had at his register bc he was open but closed as Me and another guy walked up. Then he proceeds to do nothing and make jokes and wander around aimlessly then he goes back stands at his register but doesn't remove the closed sign or turn his light on... then I'm finally next in the one long line I was waiting in and a woman walks up to the guy who is "closed" and she's asks if he's open and he says yes and calls her up by name then puts his close sign back up after her items. So apparently he only helps VIP customers he knows. That is such BS! I'm so furious I wanted to tell the manager immediately but I'm sure he is the rude incompetent person training these horrid customer service employees. I know before walking in this store that checkout is going to be unpleasant and slow but today was a whole other level of rude ridiculousness. read more

I was taking a group of youth to Bodega Bay for a Self Care retreat. I am a faithful Smart and Final customer, so I located the nearest one on our way. We had two full baskets of plenty of food and snacks for our weekend trip. We get to the register to ring up our groceries and the cashier named Chris continued to let our items pile up without attempting to bag up our groceries. One of my youth asked me "Should I start bagging up our things? and I asked the cashier would he start bagging up the groceries so we can load up the carts and make room for the rest of our items. The cashier rolled his eyes and said "Well, can't she just bag up the groceries instead because I am almost done with my shift." I was shocked at his unprofessional and rude response. I replied "No, it is not appropriate you to ask my youth to bag groceries because you are about to end your shift, are you serious? Would you bag up our groceries, so we can clear up space for the rest of our groceries?" He proceeds to roll his eyes and say well, why can't you and her bag your groceries? There's a lot of groceries and I almost going to clock out." The tone and the arrogance from this individual was absolutely out of bounds and I never experienced this level of service, especially from Smart and Final. I replied "No." Next, he calls over the the store lead named Josie and shared with her about my unwillingness to bag the groceries and not once mentioning the service he just administered to me and my youth who were visibly upset by the treatment we were receiving. I excuse them to the car assuming the lead was going to address the situation. She completely ignored me and did not attempt to speak to me or acknowledge my presence at all. I attempted to share what happened and that the cashier is refusing to bag my groceries because of his shift being almost over. Her response in a harsh tone "We bag groceries as a courtesy, we don't have to do it all." She walked away in a huff and rolled her eyes as she walked off. I was mortified. I have never felt so disrespected in my life. He smirked and said "See, it's not a big deal for you to just help." I was livid. If I didnt have 18 youth to feed, I would have just left and found another store. I proceeded to bag up my groceries asked for his name, the store lead's name and the manager's name and I left upset and disappointed. I have worked in the service industry for most of my life, so I value my peers. I was going to assist in loading my cart with my youth, but the response and behavior was so rude and completely despicable, especially in front of youth. I just needed to share it here and I made sure to alert corporate of this incident. From the other reviews, I am not the only one. Something needs to be addressed promptly! I will never return to this store! read more

this place is essentially a smaller version of Costco. minus the membership fee. great selection of items at wholesale prices. lines to check out tend to be long regardless of day of week or time of day due to shortness in staffing (they must be in need of people constantly because they always have a banner outside advertising that they are hiring). the cashiers are a little rude, but honestly, I would be too if I had only one other cashier with me on the clock and a long ass line of people trying to checkout. ....store doesn't seem very clean (they must be in need of a maintenance person). I may come back, just due to close proximity to where I live read more

Decided to give this grocery store a try. After my experience I will not be returning. I noticed a shopper with her toddler trying to tool the cart through the exit door and the wheels on the cart locked up. I tried to get the attention of an employee but nobody seemed to notice. I helped the shower lift her cart over the floor with a ridge to exit the store. Next, I went to the produce aisle. I could not believe how empty it was. There was one cucumber remaining and it was mushy and two heads of lettuce that had brown leaves. There were flies in this area. I was not able to find any decent produce. I picked up a couple of non-produce items and at the checkout register mentioned the lack of produce- the cashier ignored my comment. I also let her know that a customers cart had locked up and that it was not rolling. The cashier shrugged and said that happens sometimes. The cashier never made eye contact and was busy talking to another employee while checking me out. Not impressed. Too bad as I was hoping for a better experience. read more

In my eyes it is just another chain grocery store. The few things different are: -They offer bulk sizes on certain products -They have certain types of supplies that other grocery stores don't carry (think cafeteria type stuff) Other than that I can't really say that their prices are much better if at all than others. Nothing exceptional stuck out. read more
