I would just like to say that we are all going through something during these weird times but I honestly think this lady really didn't care how bad she treats customers. Her name is Maria if you're ever in this location. I honestly didn't know store policies for grocery store bags not being on the belt. Every store is different. Then this man was trying to come to the register to check out and in the rudest way she told him she was closed. This is all at 630 am in the morning before work so I am so shocked. I've been shopping here since it opened, and I continue to be pleased with the service and products. The produce workers are always friendly in helping me select what I need. Shelves are always well-stocked, with plenty of selections. I really appreciate that more checkout counters will open when the lines become too long. read more

Clean and friendly staff are great. But... Blah! Just about the same selection if you had to do your grocery shopping at Wal-Mart or Target except now you can stock up on all the garbage items sold in the middle aisles in bulk. It's really the same as the Smart & Final in Monrovia with a full size produce section. Don't even get me stated on the meat (vastly disappointed). Although i must say that the lines get a little heavy which I'm not so happy about, i have also found that the parking lot is huge but sometimes the shopping carts get a little out of hand! the produce is always fresh, always fully stocked, their meat selection is extensive and the clearance items are always a bonus! some of my favorite items are the ground turkey, romaine lettuce and FIRST STREET WHEAT BREAD! The lines are atrocious in here. Twisting and slow what's going on. They have pretty good deals on popcicles (yay sugar free) and frozen dinners/desserts,refrigerator items,ect..but sometimes the savings are just not worth the crazy lines. S&F has always been one of my go to markets for many things. The newish store is clean, beautiful and has many restaurant size choices in items as well as a serious kitchen supply aisle. I've always found the checkers very helpful. read more

This is my second time with the worst cashier there. I believe her name is Jeanette. The first time she was my cashier, she was texting someone on her phone while she was trying to work the register. Very unprofessional. The second time she needed the manager to clear the register twice because she obviously did not know what she was doing or not paying attention. All I had in front of me was One customer and about 10 behind me. When she finally finished with that first customer, she did not even say sorry for waiting or anyting? It was all a big joke to her. Smart and Final of old with a sprinkle of Sprouts/Whole Foods? What a concept. The old location closer to Monrovia has moved and expanded at this new Duarte spot. The space has expanded to be twice as big. Has a nuts/candy section now! The staff is friendly and helpful. Lots of parking. read more

I shop there almost every other day and the Associates are Service Oriented. They're always willing to help and have a good attitude. Juan is one of the managers, has a very professional attitude towards all customers/associates; always moving around either helping customers or making sure the store runs smooth during busy hours. This place has recently open. They have taken the old Ralph's place that has been in the city of Duarte for at least 20 years, if not longer. The food is cheap, customer service is excellent & the cashiers are so friendly to talk to. Take for example: 10 corn on the Cobb for $1.00! Where are you going to find a deal like that?! They have many other specials to lure in new customers to their store. You also have .99 cent store across the street & Grocery Outlet that will be opening their doors when construction is done. I believe prices are good until 7/5. The way I see it is bad for business, however good for the consumers to choose from. read more

Just stopped by this location for the first time to get supplies since the Smart and Final that's closer and more convenient to me is always out of the products I need. I was not sure if all the locations carried the same products, but I came to look for Club soda and I am always running out of it at my store so I bought whatever they had in stock. The cashier was very nice and helpful and offered for me to pre order the products if I need an abundant amount. That was really nice and so helpful. I have a feeling she was the manager, but I really don't know. The customer service here is amazing. I would definitely rather make the drive to this location for better service. read more

Smart & Final is awesome, but keep your eyes open while shopping. I went about two weeks ago with my aunt (Heather G.). She was picking up supplies for a conference her office was hosting. There were several times where we'd grab a case of something (Famous Amos Cookies, etc) and then find a larger pack of them at a cheaper price on display a few aisles over. The pretzels we wanted turned out to be on a special endcap a few aisles away from the other chips and pretzels. It was kind of annoying, but totally worth it for the prices we paid. I like it because you don't need a membership or any sort of card/email/phone number shenanigans. My aunt had two full carts of snacks and the cashier was really efficient and helpful. She packed everything carefully, unlike the people at our local Pavilions! I also noticed that spices and general baking goods (flour, sugar, etc) are DIRT CHEAP here. Even the King Arthur brand, which most stores sell at an especially inflated rate, was very reasonable! read more

It sucks when you buy it to cook with it so my Mac and cheese was not as cheesy since j don't have time to go back and I just paid a lot of money for the cheese. Customer service is awful and 2 cashiers at rush hour which results in long lines. Plus the cashiers are extremely slow at getting customers through. Unfortunately this is the only grocery store in the city so we have no choice but to come here. Wow I am so impressed with this Smart and Final in Duarte, CA. Everytime I visit this store, I have a positive experience ever since it has opened. Everyone is very respectful. I always leave feeling uplifted and they always have what I need in this store. However... this is not only why I am writing this review. This November I was shopping in Smart and Final and lost my wallet. ALL my cash, id, and credit cards. I was in a panic. But my wallet was found by an employee named DANIEL. I was so surprised by the Honesty and return of my wallet. Daniel will be going places in this world not only for his honesty but he has a very likable personality and a hard worker. I've been going here almost weekly since they opened because I'm just down the street. However, for the last year or so, I've noticed they are always out of stock on items I'm needing. Every single time. It's getting really annoying, considering they don't have a huge selection of each item to begin with. Might be worth taking a trek to Monrovia or Arcadia to shop instead. read more

Very poor customer service. The cashiers were very rude and unhelpful. I called the store manager Mike, the woman who answered the phone left me on hold for 5 minutes before checking to see if I was still on hold then hung up on me. I called back and the line was busy for almost 20 minutes. I finally got through and asked to speak to the manager Mike, and this time was told he was at lunch. I asked when he would be back and was told They don't know what time he left. The lady was extremely rude. I would absolutely not shop here again. I can find lower prices else where. read more

Of note, this is Smart and Final Xtra. This isn't a full service grocery store, but fills that role mostly. National brands of common grocery goods alongside bulk items and products aimed towards catering or parties. The staff is nice, the produce looks nice, but it's just not a place that replaces the need for Albertsons, Ralphs or Vons. read more

Over the years the city of Duarte has been without a large supermarket for many months, making it difficult for some seniors or others without transportation to do grocerey shopping. When Smart and Final decided to take over the former Ralphs building there was a great deal of happiness around the town. This is a Smart and Final EXTRA, meaning it is larger than most or S & F locations and has a large selection. Prices on items are generally good but....read this...the larger sizes of items or "Club Pacakages" are not always the best buy. Do your math to save the most cash. Most of the staff is quite friendly and willing to help and now that the opening weeks have past most people know where things are. Some good choices on produce! read more

Nice to have a grocery store in Duarte. I liked the fresh produce section as it offers a wide variety of veggies, love their bulk items (similar to Sprouts), and the newly decorated aisle names reflecting Duarte streets names...pretty cool. Been there a couple times to buy veggies, drinks, and bulk items, and received pleasant service by the cashiers. Haven't bought any diary, meats, or dry/canned goods, but look forward to seeing their selection. read more

Best chicken in LA! Better than costco, better than any other rotisserie chicken. Foster farms 3 pound chicken seasoned with what I can only describe as Crack. One taste and you're hooked. Get thee to S&F and see if you don't agree. read more

Called today Thursday at 4:56pm and asked if they carry Aciago cheese. I was told yes but I didn't get the lady's name who answered. I drove 2 cities down to find they Do Not carry any form of Aciago cheese. Total waist of my time. The manager was nice enough to help look but I feel they all need to be more knowledgeable about what their store carries. read more

If you ever need anything in bulk, this is your place! It is much smaller than Sam'd Club and Costco, but the good thing is that you DO NOT need a membership to go inside. That's a plus!!!! Shannon the cashier has one of the worse attitudes in the industry. She snapped at me for asking if bags are free with ebt.. She yelled and said "Of course not since your buying alcohol!" Excuse me? Me buying a pack of beer with groceries is NOT against ebt policies! The register is programmed to accept ebt for the food portion of the purchase and gives you a total afterwards for the rest of the nonfood items. How you don't know this working all day at a grocery store is beyond belief. It felt personal that she got so upset that someone could be buying food with ebt and beer out of pocket. I came in here two days ago and the lady cashier was so rude. I understand she was probably having a rough night since people are going all crazy because of this virus. But how is that my fault? Of two boxes of pasta is the limit then why not just state that instead of grabbing the other two out from my stuff into the go back cart? Horrible lady. LINES!! Everytime you come here. Checkers, who move it seems purposely slow as they see the lines. They NEVER open up enough check stands, nor do they make it CLEAR the express lane with 15 items or less since it's extremely poorly marked & confusing. This location doesn't accept any ID other than passport identification for foreigners. This means no Canadian drivers license, Nexus card or TWIC card.
