Made the process of selling my jewelry super easy. Very honest! Thank you Sebastian I had a great experience here

Shalom is knowledgeable honest and fair I can say these things is 100% certainty and feel very comfortable making this statement because I have the benefit of many years of knowing him now but even when I first met him that first day going in his shop everything that he told me was extremely extremely truthful good bad and otherwise he explained everything step by step and he's never led me wrong read more

I went here to sell a diamond and he offered me $4500. I went back in a month later and he told me $2100. Low ballers and cheapo. Really horrible selection as well and overly greedy. Avoid this place like the plague. Also the owner is extremely arrogant. read more

Bought couple things here always good deals over the years . Service is good . Selection is good especially around holidays.

Great service from start to end! The owners of the shop are brothers I believe and both are very nice! Honestly when I came to drop off my golden chain one of the brothers gave me the most for it out of all the other shops that I've called to compare and since I had no charge to give him he told me not to even worry about it, he said here let's just say I'm paying u 20 dollars more. So I ended up walking out with 20$ more then the highest paying place would even consider paying at the time. Love his sense of humor as well. Will definitely be back for all my future pawn shop needs. read more

I am very happy that I found Shalom! He runs S/M Gold and Silver, and he's an honest, amiable guy. I like to buy and sell gold now and then, and usually I go to a place I like in Tarzana. I'd been hopeful to find a local place that I could trust, and I found it with Shalom. I had a gold ring that I wanted to sell for melt value, and Shalom paid me a fair price in cash. We both knew the current price of gold, he weighed my ring, and we struck a deal. Todah rabah, chabibi! I like the way you do business! I recommend S/M Gold and Silver to anyone who wants to buy or sell precious metals at a shop run by a decent person with a great smile and positive personality. read more

Honest, respectful and upstanding human being owns this business. I highly recommend. I was helped when I needed to sell a few items some years back. The dignity I was given was quite moving. I will always remember that and the experience and the very fair transaction. Thank you. read more

Came in for an appraisal but before I could bring out the coins I was told if I'm shopping around for what places will offer, I'd be wasting their time if I'm not ready to sell on the spot. Very strange bully tactics before we'd even started. So I left. read more

I used to come here a few years ago and always got good prices. I came in today with an approximately 48 gram 10k gold chain. The value of 10k gold is $20.80 at the time I walked in, which puts its value at around $980. The main guy who's usually there (I assume owner, very nice guy) said to give a "good deal" to his associate, then offered $500... That's almost 50% of its value, and the value of gold is going up (he knows this.) The 1 star review is because it's an offensive offer, and if anyone falls for this, they're getting ripped off. Maybe I looked like a sucker, but I'm surprised he'd go that low. Be weary. read more

When I was in my early 20s, I had a boyfriend whom treated me like gold. He was kind, thoughtful, romantic...blah blah blah. I broke up with him about a week before my 22nd birthday because I was young, in college, and felt like the relationship was "too domestic" at such a young age. I haven't spoken to him since but I kept a $200 Emerald ring he gave me at that tender, young age. I didn't keep it for any emotional or sentimental value. Nor did I ever wear it. I just merely didn't know what to do with it. I decided that I wanted to try to sell it to make some green in my pocket and my boyfriend suggested S/M, as he has sold watches to the establishment in the past. I imagined the stereotypical, ghetto, pawn shop type environment: dirt, dust, glass windows which make you feel like you are in prison, and men behind the counter who rip you off. To say the least, I was skeptical. Alas, that insecurity floated away like a soft cloud when I arrived at S/M. The building is clean, modern, and looks like a hip, creative office or even hotel lobby. The owner on duty was behind the glass (I still joked that it was prison-like) and instantly welcomed us (after we pressed the doorbell to be allowed in). He was kind and all smiles/jokes but yet, also very professional. The process was smooth as butter as he looked at my jewelry and asked what I wanted for it. I was reluctant to answer as I thought he would low-ball me. However, I felt comfortable and optimistic in his care. He then offered $115 for the ring and a necklace, I had brought. I was expecting about $70, so I was VERY happy. The exchange process was quick and efficient, as he took my license info and thumb print (they check with police to make sure the jewelry you exchange isn't stolen), he then gave me cash in hand, and I was done. In and out in about 10 min and most of that was us just chatting about other topics like old friends. Certainly the best jewelry selling/pawn shop type experience I have had and I will only go to S/M in the future. Terrific customer service, great exchange prices, and a cute building. It doesn't get better. PS. Shout out to Chris, the ex whose heart I broke but due to him, I now have an extra $115 in my pocket! read more

Called and stopped by for Shalom's opinion on a pair of Chrome Hearts sunglasses. Wanted to know if my pair really did have sterling silver on it and he checked it out for me. Took time out of his busy day to help. That's great service and after reading all the positive reviews on yelp, it's certainly true. Overall: A read more

] I was informed my a jewlery/gold and diamond informed friend to have 2 to 3 professional appraisals. Since GOLD is at the highest rate ever, I decided to finally sell my gold. I did visit three other places in the Studio City area and by far SM Gold & Silver were the most informed and nicest of all places I visited today. They made me feel comfortable and answered all of my questions in an intelligent and professional manner. I would highly recommend S&M Gold to anyone that wants the best prices and great service. I could not be more satisfied. Richard read more

Amazing customer service! I had an engagement ring I was ready to get rid of. I went to get an idea of what I could get for it. After getting their price, I shopped around a bit...ultimately, they had the best price and I went back to them. They made me feel so comfortable AND they stuck to their original price! I was super impressed. I'll definitely be using them in the future. read more

S/M Gold & Silver is legit. Too legit to quit. The owner Shalom is the homie. Super nice, not creepy or icky or anything. Just professional, friendly, and makes you a fair offer for your items. Process is quick - in and out in 10-15 mins. I've been on two occasions to sell gold. Shalom buys silver as well, but the market price for it is SO low compared to gold. He was honest about the items I had and how much they were worth. Even suggested some items I might want to hang onto it the value wasn't that high. I had an old gold ring that lost the center pearl, but had a few small diamonds on the side. Shalom carefully removed the diamonds for me to keep (they don't accept gems/stones) and gave me cash for the ring and other items. This was a perk for me, since I went to another place (Gold Fellow on Riverside) and they wanted to issue me a check. No thanks, cash only please! Most of my watches were gold-plated so he didn't take those. The one and ONLY downside to this place...unless you 'somehow' have a steady stream of real jewelry coming your way, you eventually run out of things you can sell! Sorry Shalom! Not your fault, I know this my friend! As soon as I come up on some items, I'll be in to see you soon! read more

I read the reviews before coming here and that is what led me here. I look for professionalism, fairness, and sound business sense. Shalom not only was professional but he was very generous and courteous and complimentary of my items I brought him. Sometimes you don't want to part with things but you need to and he made it easier to let go. He went above and beyond my expectations and even educated me on some of my valuables. He's honest and gave me the best bang for my buck around town. He even wanted a couple pieces for his private collection which made me feel good parting with these pieces that they weren't going to be melted and forgotten but cherished by someone new. I will be bringing him additional items when I'm ready! read more

Let me start off by saying, don't waste your time going to any other jewelry. These guys are literally the best in LA. I wish I wouldn't have wasted my time going to any other place to sell my jewelry. I wish I could put more than 5 stars. read more

Seriously perfect from our walk-in to the hugs goodbye. Shalom was as kind, genuine, warm and professional as everyone has said here, plus he gave me a whopping amount for my gold and silver jewelry. I never expected to get so much for crap from the 80's that was just sitting in my drawer collecting dust, tarnish and whatever other ick it attracts. I was having a pretty down day, but after my fabulous experience with Shalom, I felt positively giddy with happiness. He was also darling to my son who happened to be with me and chatted him up, explaining everything he was doing. I only wish I had more stuff to sell because it was just that wonderful. Only bummer is that now I have to pay bills with the cash rather than shop. Shalom, you're as good as gold. Okay, bad cliche, but trust me - great, great guy! read more

This is my first time selling my jewelry. Shalom is the best. Really friendly guy that is HONEST & will give you the MOST for your silver or gold. Will come back !!! Thank you for the experience. Highs: really clean space, very professional, and honest. Lows: parking on Ventura blvd. read more

Cleaned out my jewelry box a few months ago to get rid of some broken and out of style pieces. Have been procrastinating on selling scrap gold because I anticipated an unpleasant experience. I finally decided to work this errand into my to-do list, and stick to it this time. I found SM on yelp, they're actually within walking distance. I've passed their shop for years and never noticed it! I was pleasantly surprised at the experience. Shalom helped me. He was cheerful, friendly and knowledgeable. The prices were accurate and fair... which far exceeded my expectations. I left with cash...AND a smile! read more

I had some old gold and silver jewelry that I wasn't wearing, so decided to sell them. I came here after reading the good reviews and I don't regret it! The interior is clean and nice. The gentleman behind the counter was very friendly and put me at ease. The whole process was transparent: he weighed the items and told me how much he was offering. When I asked him about how he came up with that price (I had never sold jewelry before), he very nicely told me what the melt value was and what profit he would be making. (Later I went home and looked up the melt value myself just to make sure, and it was all legit.) He warned me that silver wasn't worth very much so if there was any sentimental stuff, I should probably hold on to them. There wasn't, so I sold him my silver too. He gave me cash and that was that! So yeah! Overall a very good experience. Non-shady, friendly, and quick. If I have any more jewelry in the future I want to sell, I'm gonna come back! read more

Very customer focused with fair prices. I took a few pieces of jewelry in and was treated excellent. I recommend this business.

I had a fantastic experience dealing with SM Gold. They were absolutely incredible and very transparent. I highly recommend SM Gold for any jewelry or pawn related transactions that you might have. read more

Love this place!!! highly recommend it!! Every time I come with different items I get a great price! thank you for your help!

Today I had the unexpected GREAT experience (and delight) of needing to sale some gold pieces and decided to go to SM Gold & Silver. It was close to my home in Studio City and easy to get to and to park. I met both Shalom and Sebastian. From the phone call, to walking in the door, these 2 men (owner and salesman) are awesome. The money they offered me for my jewelry pieces shocked me - it was so generous compared to my past experiences selling jewelry. I had to have him repeat what they were buying it for - I was so surprised. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND; SM Gold & SILVER. They are more than fair and great guys as well! read more

Just like the reviews said, quick and easy! I know very little about jewelry, but after cleaning out some old jewelry boxes, decided to bring some things in. Made a quick $100 to boot! read more

I am extremely impressed with Shalom and his business. This was the first time I've ever had to sell old silver & jewelry, and I was made aware by my friends how many people try to rip you off for those types of things. SM Gold & Silver is the furthest thing from scammy; clean and inviting waiting room, Shalom (the owner) is one of the most genuine people I've met, and you get to see everything happening in front of you. He shows you how he goes about appraising items, weighs it right there, and in a few minutes you're handed cash! Easy, painless operation. I'll definitely be back! read more

I went there because of the reviews I read here on yelp. So I decided to check it out. I brought 2 white gold diamond rings, their original price was $650 All he offered was a hundred dollars just for the gold. He wasn't interested in the diamonds. I think I can do better in a pawn shop! The guy was polite though. One extra star for that. never coming back here. that's for sure. read more

wow..... I was nervous about selling my gold, for a number of obvious reasons!!!After a few stops at some local Pawn Shops I got that feeling in my stomach, which we all get, that something was wrong!!! There was one pawn shop in particular that was definitely trying to pull one over on me!!! one day... i was walking on ventura blvd, studio city and i saw the S/M SHOP!!! The Gold Standard in s/m was amazing. It's a very nice place and the gentleman that helped me made me feel very comfortable. He explained the whole process to me so I understood. And,the amount i was paid for my gold was a very pleasant surprise... they gave me $300 MORE than any other place offered. In cash!!!! I was very pleased and would definitely highly recommend them to everyone. read more
