VERY TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!! I had a one-time pest control appointment in September. Because of the hurricane, the specialist couldn't complete the outdoor treatment, which I completely understood. However, when I tried to reschedule, the salesman only seemed to hear what he wanted to hear. If he can't understand what his customers are saying, maybe he shouldn't be a salesman. Additionally, he laughed TWICE at my situation, and I couldn't understand what was funny. He even claimed that he was the only salesperson who could assist me, which was misleading. More importantly, he said there was no record of the September pest control, which makes me question whether their specialist unlawfully entered my home. read more

I have had the pleasure of having Josh as my yard bug extinguisher. I have some feral cats on my property and also a couple of my own indoor/outdoor cats. He was very conscious of the safety of the cats and kindly explained to me how long to keep them off the treated grass. Some people don't like cats and wouldn't care. He explained every step he took and all the following steps he needed to take in the future to get rid of the fleas and other bugs. He gave me a full report on the bugs I needed to watch out for. I called Slug-A-Bug last Tuesday because my wife made me buy a gigantic china hutch from an antique store in Grant six months ago and we started noticing evidence of possible termite activity on a couple of the shelves. Christine answered and said they didn't treat stand-alone furniture, but passed me off to Chuck the Inspector who said he'd come take a look and I asked that he also see what can be done about the damn ants in the bathrooms. Chuck arrived on-time at 3pm the following Monday and said yes, dry-wood termites were having their way with the hutch, he's seen it hundreds of times in furniture bought from antique malls, and highly recommended taking it to the landfill. Luckily, he found no evidence of termite activity anywhere else in the house. After inspecting the interior and exterior of the house he said easy fix on the ant problem and any other bugs that might try to invade and sold me on $175 initial treatment and $86 every quarter for maintenance treatment. It seems like a lot of money, but the ants drive my wife crazy and I've tried all kinds of stuff from Home Depot and I just want peace and quiet and no more damn ants for a change. Chuck passed me off to Joe the Technician who was very accommodating with my schedule and agreed to arrive Wednesday at 7:15am to do the inside of the house so I could leave for work while he treated the exterior. Joe arrived on-time and spent about 30 minutes in the house and garage and completed the outside while I got ready to leave. Joe said he'll come back in a week or so to treat the exterior once more and that should last for three months until the next quarterly treatment. Overall great experience. Why pay for a termite bond when if ever you are worried about termites coming back, you are treated like you don't know what you're talking about. I have found multiple termites in my garage and noticed new termite damage, yet whoever has come to inspect my property assured me there was nothing to worry about. No one ever offered any service for peace of mind. If I had a customer repeatedly call about possible termites, I might offer my customer something (even at additional cost) to ease their mind. A termite bond with slug a bug is worthless in my opinion. Seems like they just want to collect a check every year until you have a serious structural dilemma, resulting in construction costs on top of their worthless termite bond. I'd love if slug a bug had the guts to change my mind about their piss poor customer service. read more

The people there are very accommodating & works with you if something comes up. Very friendly & knowledgeable about their job. Our pest control person, Chrissy, is very competent & personable. Our termite guy, Jesse, kept up in the loop & Rick gets results fast. In fact, the entire staff is great & most helpful. He'd worked for me in a prior home and handled a carpenter ant problem, but just couldn't stop the palmetto bugs in my new home. I have heard that its a good company but the owner Steve Lum is really off the wall. I called and talked to him the other day and he had a lot to say but did not make much sense. It made me wonder if they do drug testing. He seemed very egotistical and not very knowledgeable about running a business. Because of the strange conversation I elected to go with another company. I wondered how they have been in business for so long. I would recommend that anyone interested in hiring this company to speak to him first. They don't stand behind their work... We've been using Slug A Bug since moving into our home in September 2014. We were very satisfied until this past May when within a couple days of treatment, we noticed a substantial dead patch in our backyard. The backyard is already patchy so we've been working hard to encourage growth. I've seen cinch bug infestations before so I recognized the signs, mainly that we still had St. Augustine runners but there were no blades of grass. I was annoyed that this wasn't mentioned in the door hanger that was left at the house two days prior and called to explain that I thought we had cinch bugs and needed another treatment. They sent someone to assess the yard. He confirmed that it was indeed cinch bugs and they would return for another treatment. They did return and informed me that the grass would not regrow in that area and we would need to re-sod; at our expense of course. I thought I was paying them to prevent, or at least minimize, this type of damage, but apparently not. In June the lawn was treated and we noticed that within a few days there were large brown spots on the front lawn and side yard. They looked like chemical burns so I called Slug a Bug once again. They came out for another assessment and confirmed that it was indeed a chemical burn resulting from the application of an oil based insecticide. He confirmed that they like to avoid oil based pesticides during drought conditions (which we were experiencing) precisely because they can cause this type of damage. He didn't know why the technician used an oil based product to treat the cinch bugs. They do have a water based product that could have been applied instead. He was very sorry but assured me that the grass should grow back in approximately three weeks. He suggested that I wasn't irrigating my lawn enough or didn't have the zones operating properly. I told him that was not the case as after the cinch bug infestation in May we had an irrigation professional to the house to make any necessary adjustment to the sprinklers, replace any heads that may have been damaged or missing, and ensure that we had full coverage. I'm very disappointed in this company. We like to support local businesses, but they do not stand behind their work. I'm trying to get them to do the right thing, but was repeatedly told by their customer service representative that he "understands my frustration..." but they will not do anything to repair the damage that they have caused. I'm sorry Slug A Bug, but I have been patient with you. I hope you read this because you've already recognized that your actions directly resulted in the problems to my lawn, but still refuse to do the right thing. read more
