That is pretty rare to experience at a doctor appointment. I think they even started my appointment 5 minutes before it was scheduled, so there was zero waiting time. Dr. Boutwell genuinely wants to get to know her patients, and even asked about my hobbies and general life, because she said she "likes to tie things together." I can say without a doubt no doctor has ever inquired about my general life ever before. She was very thorough in her questions, and offered explanations for every question I asked. She was very knowledgable and even threw out a few jokes - I have 100 bug bites currently after a recent trip, and she said "Apply this cream twice a day, and when you get to the 100th bite the first time, you'll probably be ready for round two." I don't know, I really appreciated that she seemed like a real person instead of someone just trying to get me out the door. I should also say, she spent 45 minutes talking with me. My previous doctor took about 7-10 minutes after I had waited over 35 minutes on average to see him.

Dr. Norfleet's nurse, Christie, is delightful, and does the weight, bp, temp . . . all those things that must be monitored and regulated. Yet, Dr. Norfleet is a personable and non-judgmental physician who is very encouraging related to lifestyle management and upkeeping good health. And she's funny and approachable, too. I am diligent about keeping her abreast of news or changes with my specialists. Everybody's gotta be onboard. I know people who are very fragmented with their physicians. Every doctor has their own little slot, and there's no sharing. Because the sharing must come from the patient. And these folks have suffered medically and physically for non-full disclosure. Not a good approach. Dr. Norfleet practices at the Central Medical Group (14th floor) in the Barnes-Jewish Hospital Center for Advanced Medicine at Kingshighway Boulevard and Forest Park Parkway.

You are shuffled off to the P.A. who is also non-responsive. I gave up trying to get a referral....after 8 days of phone calls etc. SIMPLY HORRIBLE.

With no evidence that it was a bacterial infection, he prescribed antibiotics. He did not consider any other possibilities and did not schedule a follow-up appointment in case he was wrong. When I continued to get worse, I contacted a pulmonologist who would not make an appointment with me until I had a referral from Dr. Butler. Dr. Butler refused to make a referral until I had an appointment. I told him the pulmonologist wouldn't allow that, and he was being arrogant to insist on doing something his way that wouldn't work. He then fired me as a patient. Since I could not get an appointment with another primary care physician for months, that meant I had had no available medical care at a time when it was obvious that I needed medical care. In desperation, I asked my cardiologist to act as my primary care physician. He ordered a CT scan which showed that I had a large pulmonary embolism and a major lung infarction. If the cardiologist had not diagnosed the problem and prescribed anticoagulants, I likely would have died. Any doctor who knows little about medicine, knows nothing about how to approach medical problems, and doesn't care about his patients has no right to be a doctor.

    Disappointed. To be honest, the only reason I even called this office was because of the five star…read morereview previously given. I was desperate for someone's referral and opinion. Yelp has been amazing and my go to in the past. I really do appreciate all the knowledge shared by my fellow Yelpers. But I should have known better. There just weren't that many reviews for a GP or a family doctor and in believing in my fellow Yelpers, I made a call to this office. I called here looking for a doctor who could give me a general physical and fill out an immunization record that is required before starting grad school. I talked to a woman named Nancy who seemed irritated. She was quite short with me on the phone. I decided to be nice anyway and give her all the information she asked, including the usual, date of birth, address, etc. The conversation started smoothly with me asking for a general physical and letting Nancy know that my intention in seeing Dr. Guillemette was to get these records filled. I also told her that I had copies of my immunization record forwarded to me by my previous Doctor in Maryland. She was very quick to correct me that the Doctor is an INTERNIST and that she "guesses" he can give me a physical. Give me a break. I know hierarchy of physicians. And I do know that internists can give physicals. This was starting out poorly. Anyway, she quickly brushed off the fact that I needed my immunization records filled out and collected my information. When I addressed the immunization sheet again, she put me on hold, only to come back on the phone and tell me that the Doctor would not sign off on immunizations not given by the Doctor himself. REALLY? Does this sound a bit ridiculous to you? I'm not sure how things go here in Missouri. Does your pediatrician become your general practitioner as soon as you turn 18 in this state? There is a transient population out there. People DO move from city to city based on school and/or work. There are some immunizations given to children, as there are given to adults. So was Nancy telling me that in order for Dr. Guillemette to sign off on an immunization record, he had to have given me the DTP, MMR and the Hep series?! Highly unlikely in this day in age that the Doctor that gave you your DTP will give you your Hep B series. Get real. I'm sorry for my rant. I usually do not like to rate just one star. I generally feel that people deserve the benefit of the doubt. But this was just ridiculous. I'm sure Dr. Guillemette is a great internist. I'm sure he is well qualified. Maybe they just don't need any new patients and felt irritated that I would even call to request this. Whatever the case, I felt that I needed to share my first and last experience with this Office.

It actually comes from a virus called Coxsackie A. And if you're a parent you probably already know this itchy, painful, spray of red bump personally or from a friend's kid. ANYWAY, so my hubbie and I are fairly new to St. Lou and really hadn't had a reason to find a general doctor until now. I called up the ONLY doctor listed in my health insurance "big book" of doctors they recommend...the first thing I hear is a recording..."You've reached the offices of Dr. A, B, C, D, E, F and G. For Dr.s A through C's assistant, please dial XX, for Dr.'s D-Q's assistant..." I just hung up at that point. The way I see it, if the practice is THAT big and they still have customer service that's that terrible, they probably don't need my business. So the next step is I do just a random google search for doctor, reviews, stl, right? Get back this one doctor who SEEMS promising. He's close by which is AWESOME. So I call. I get a real live person on the line...SCORE! Turns out the doctor doesn't have any openings until September. It's April right now. By that time I could be dead. No seriously, I don't know what I have at this point. OK, climbing back out of the melodrama pool. So. I'm itching, there's several huge lumps on the side of my neck, I think I'm dying...I'm at my wit's end. So I email the hubby...and of course, he comes through again and gets a great recommend from one of his coworker's. So, I call Dr. Guillemette's office and I get a person. Ok...then I ask the requisite questions: Are you accepting new patients? Ok, good. Do you accept this health insurance...Okay, almost there. Do you have any appts soon? No? BUT you can transfer me to your sick patient triage nurse might be able to squeeze me in in TWO DAY?!! (I was about to reach through a hug the lady). I thanked her and waited as she connected me to the triage nurse's line. "You've reached the triage nurse, please leave your name..." F-me! A voicemail line? Fine, so I leave the info the voicemail message requested...who I was, my D.O.B. my symptoms. A little disappointed that I didn't get to speak to a human. But still glad I at least had an appt for two days from now as opposed to 6 months from now. Whadda you know? 30 mins later, my phone rings...it's the triage nurse...long story short, she gets me in there the next day. Halleluya! The office experience was awesome. Even though they keep these sick patient appointments short, like 10 mins, that's plenty of time for the doctor to look at my hands and immediately diagnosis me and tell me to stay home till next week because I'm super contagious. YES! not going in to work...DARN! But I feel like crap, that's probably why I can't go in... Oh, so I keep getting side tracked. So the breakdown, and why this doctor's practice is so revolutionary...and why other doctor's offices haven't done this too is beyond me: They divide the appts up between accutely sick people and all the other visits. And it's perfect b/c the sick visits are scheduled in 10 min increments, so they have a chance to see as many of the sickest patients immediately as possible. And seriously folks, when have you ever spent more than 10 minutes with the doctor on most visits? Come on. That's ample time to talk about the color of your sputum. WOW, ok this review's gettin' kinda long. Time to sign off. Here's the run down: Dr. Guillemette, awesome. His staff and the front desk office, super efficient and super friendly. The people answering the phones when you call, they're actual people. Bottom line: If you're looking for a good doc, here's a pretty good one.

    I am a healthy 42 year old male and I have had two terrible experiences with Dr. Fernandez's office…read moreand would highly recommend everyone seeking a different option. I originally saw a nurse practitioner for my annual physical back in March 2024. We had recently relocated from California and I wanted to receive an annual physical. Annual physicals are included as preventive services under the Affordable Care Act meaning patients cannot be charged for an annual physical (see 42 USC 300gg-13 https://uscode.house.gov/view.xhtml?req=(title:42%20section:300gg-13%20edition:prelim)). The annual physical was a nondescript experience and I answered the questions the nurse practitioner asked me. Unfortunately, I became very sick in August 2024. After a few days I tried to see Dr. Fernandez and was eventually able to get in to see the nurse practitioner. The office tested me for influenza A&B, COVID, and strep which all came back negative. I told the doctor my son had experienced similar symptoms a few weeks earlier and eventually developed pneumonia. I went home with no medicine. Five more days passed and I was feeling no better and had developed a hacking cough which led me to strain my oblique. It was incredibly painful. I again called Dr. Fernandez's office and was able to get prednisone and a Z-pack prescribed to me but not a cough suppressant because they wanted me to be seen again in a couple of days. They also wanted to perform a chest x-ray which could not be done on site. Because I was feeling so terrible and was in so much pain I ended up going to receive Total Access Urgent Care. There I was able to receive an x-ray the same day which revealed I had pneumonia. They were able to provide me a shot which gave instant relief and a cough suppressant to help moving forward. This was done at a cost of $150 after insurance was provided. I informed Dr. Fernandez's office of this diagnosis and, to there credit, they were apologetic about the care I received and they stated they wished I had seen Dr. Fernandez for my annual physical instead of the nurse practitioner because we had no prior relationship. There appeared to be a lack of trust on the Dr. Fernandez's end in what I was saying because of the lack of relationship. However, if new patients are not provided the opportunity to meet the doctor I don't know how I could have handled this differently. Now to the part that has me incredibly frustrated. A few weeks back I received a bill for the August visit which I don't dispute. However, tacked on to the bill was a charge of roughly $200 for the annual physical in March. At no prior point had I received a bill for this service which made sense to me because the insurer has to cover the entire cost of preventive services which includes an annual physical. Unfortunately, Dr. Fernandez's office had coded the care incorrectly causing a dispute with my insurance company. Currently, her office is refusing to change the coding leaving my insurer unable to cover the full cost of the annual physical. I would highly recommend not seeing Dr. Fernandez as she likely won't be able to see you in person as a new patient, won't trust what you tell her as a patient when you are sick, and then try to screw you on billing. I could not be more disappointed in the services I received from this office.
